Would you rather watch golf on sky or bbc?
Sky or bbc to watch the golf?
Very simple, just vote for the broadcaster you would prefer to watch golf on. Seems way may as well see the numbers given the discussion on the other thread.

You need to provide more clarification on the parameters. e.g. are you referring to current level of quality of coverage?

I am sure you have seen enough golf from both broadcasters over the years to make this decision.

BBC.
Unless...
Sky introduce Open Cutline Day on the Open Friday and have reporters on every hole wearing garish yellow outfits and spouting inane commentarty in a sensationalist manner with Jim White (?) in the studio showing the impact the cut will have on every player and a countdown every 3 minutes plus interviews with every agent/coach/lackey about what their player is going to do.
In which case.
BBC

Sky - far better set up and commentators in my opinion.

My point was: are you asking if I prefer the current BBC coverage of golf over the current Sky coverage of golf, which is a really simple question as SKY is miles better than the half-arsed BBC efforts. Or in principle do I prefer BBC to Sky... which is again simple because I'm not a fan of the evil murdoch empire!

Re: Sky or bbc to watch the golf?
During the recent Masters, i watched on the Beeb when it was split coverage. From memory i cannot recall anything Sky did on the first 2 days, which was significantly better then the Beebs efforts. I also think the commentators on the BBC are better, though i have had to check who they used for last years open. It is mentioned they had Alliss, Brown, Cotter, Mark James and Frank Nobilo. I also remember them using Azinger at the masters, though that may have been the year before. When Sky did out Monty and Butch, then the beeb team is much better.
Sky though are very good at building the events up, and hyping them. But they have a lot of air time to fill. They may even change Sky Sports 4 to Sky Sports Open which gets people excited.

BBC - I don't have Sky, so have no experience of their coverage

I voted BBC mainly because they provide free to air HD coverage with minimal ad breaks. Sky on the other hand charge you to watch it (fair enough) and then charge extra for HD (and more again for 3D). Sky also have an unconscienable amount of ads.

Did anyone watch the Masters in 3D? What was it like?

BBC
Although you forgot that Sky need a reporter outside the clubhouse reporting on who is going in and out, while moronic chavs fight in the background to get their face on TV. And Harry Redknapp in a range rover on the practice ground, giving thoughts on player's chances of making the cut while leaning out of his car window.

Re: Sky or bbc to watch the golf?
Hi Ray
We watched the Masters in 2013 in 3D (wasn't shown last year) and it certainly added an extra dimension (pun intended). You could easily see the severity of the drop offs to the greens and also the breaks on putts to a better extent than ordinary TV.
Down side, and a major one, was that they only had cameras on the last 3 holes I think it was so watched most of the action on the 2D version until the leaders reached the end - too annoying to keep switching between the two versions.
Hardly use the 3D option on the telly to be honest although it does add a little to the football, but just rarely watch it live anyway.

Re: Sky or bbc to watch the golf?
My Sky Masters experience was not good. Bunch of us begged our host to switch over to the beeb. Drab, sterile, advert laden crap. Great shame the beeb have lost out to that lot, short sighted by the R&A, then again not privy to the whole picture. Thought the Beebs open and masters efforts were thoroughly acceptable, very enjoyable in fact, with the exception of the linekar years. Will miss it, as there's no chance I'll be able to afford sky anytime soon!

Re: Sky or bbc to watch the golf?
The Open Championship has only one true home, thats the BBC. Yellow flags and black and white flag poles, my earliest memories of watching golf on TV.
As im in Ireland I don't contribute to the BBC licence fee so right now I don't have a right to complain. But I honestly wouldn't mind making a contribution towards it. Perhaps the Beeb should start looking at that in order to compete with the likes of Sky. Perhaps extend BBC NI to include content from all of Ireland and offer this as a paid service? I already pay €7.99 per month for Netflix and I watch way more BBC content than Netflix. I wouldn't mind doing the same for BBC, especially if it enabled the Beeb to hold onto The Open and even maybe get some live football back. Just a thought.
