Kids And Boxing
Dennis (Derbymanc) has put together a superb article all about his recent experiences at The Peoples Gym in Manchester, where he takes his children to work with Kieran Farrell. I'm sure he'll appreciate any feedback you have.

Cracking read and well written piece Derby. Does a brilliant job of evoking both the atmosphere in the gym and your obvious parental pride, not enough to make me want to have one of the horrible little things but it got closer than most things.
Also think Wham Street is possibly the best street name ever.

Cheers fella's, is much appreciated.
HH, I thought the exact same thing and the first lesson I actually refused to let her take part, glad I did in the next few as she's apparently a little natural.
We'll see how we go when they get to a sparring level though.

Re: Kids And Boxing
The confidence they'll gain and the respect they'll gain from their peers will do them wonders.
Its a lot easier to speak your mind when you're physically capable. But keep their feet on the ground - as their new found confidence may land them in trouble to begin with at least. However, once they've been in the ring they'll hopefully develop a certain humility, calm down and learn about respect.
At times they'll want to quit; judge their reasons as best you can and offer guidance.... Alcohol, girls, drugs and street corners can sometimes seem much more appealing to teenager than training. However, if they genuinely dislike being punched then find them another hobby - boxing isn't for everyone!
I wish them luck.

I've just read that back and it sounds like a parenting lesson; that wasn't my intention, I apologise if you've taken it that way.

No apologies needed bud, sounds like someones that's seen it or been through it so no issues. Whilst they both desperately want to get in the ring, completely agree that the big test will be when they take their first punch.
At least I know who to ask if they do go wild

Get some tough Latvian in for a back garden match. Give em rounds, test their whiskers but not provide a real threat.
Unless you're gonna wrap em in bubble wrap and cherry pick forever.

Try again Strongy, I've only just launched the mobile site as of 5 seconds a go due to it being a pain to sort but it's live now.

Should have called his gym the wham bam. There must be a bar there called club tropicana.
Good read derby. Has crossed my mind whether to let my two have a go when their old enough. With their DNA, I'm not sure they can afford to lose any brain cells from smacks to the head. Cue truss getting insulted that I've called him thick
