Re: Pratchett Fans?
I'm one I tried to read his books in order got sidetracked about six books in due to a present.
My favourite book is Monstrous Regiment the kick at the end was very good
The lines from Colour of Magic "The thouight never cross my mind"
"Indeed, then if I were you I would sue my face for slander" pure genius

This is a very good reading guide gives you some other orders in which to read the books. I like the death books a lot but he makes an appearance in most of the books. Hope you get back to reading them soon

I've read all of them and there are some very good oneliners in there.
I would say my favourite is probably the Guards books... Vimes is an excellently flawed character.

That is what I'm trying to do atm, currently on Lords and Ladies.
I have read most before, but there are ones I haven't read that I am waiting to get to. My favourite Discworld book (actually my favourite book) is Nightwatch, such a fantastic story.
From Colour of Magic to where I am now Moving Pictures is the book I have enjoyed the most.

Re: Pratchett Fans?
read THUD again recently... There's an excellent little back and forth in there.
Vimes sees Death and asks what's going on... Is he Dead.
Death says he's having a near death experience which also means that death has to suffer a near Vimes experience. But don't worry about it Death brought a book so he'll be alright.

Re: Pratchett Fans?
Bought my first Pratchett, The Hogfather, when not long out in hardback, on the way through Gatwick airport.
Wife spent the first 3 days of holiday telling me to shush laughing out loud as people were staring ..... I spent the following 2 days doing much the same - she reads quicker than me.
After that we lent the book to 4 other people and when we got back home I put together the full list; he'd already done about 15-20 I think and we have now read all of them at least once ....... love the Guards and the Witches books ..... and all the rest

Re: Pratchett Fans?
I think the best thing about Pratchett is that although each book is an excellent read in its own right, for those of us who have read them all, the extra subtlety and in-jokes are very satisfying. I have to admit to having read most of them several times.

Add me to the list of those fans who particularly like the Guards books. Favourite section of any individual book though is the parody of the driving test for assassins at the start of 'Pyramids'

Re: Pratchett Fans?
read quite a few but not in order, kept thinking i'd never read the whole thing because by the time you get round to buying one he's written another 3 and you get them for christmas. Shame that he's on the way out, great writer and will be missed. Even his kids books are good and have little jokes for adults

Also a fan of anything with Vimes, although I also have a sneaking regard for the Patrician. I'd forgotten the "driving test for assassins" though - re-read it yesterday and it's a real classic! Thanks for reminding me.

Re: Pratchett Fans?
I find it hard to read other books because they're not written by Pratchett.

The new one, Snuff is another good'un
There's 8 or 10 Discworld novels I re-read at least once a year, and I probably get through the whole series every 3 or 4 years.
