Nico did a 'Paulie'. Don't blame him. Holding back niggles should expect a reaction. But Nige is in charge of the cards.

It wasn't a late hit and while the holding is annoying you can't react like that,PoC was sent off a few years ago for the exact same thing.

Bryce needs to nail Murphy there. Glasgow need to dig deep and find something to turn this round.

Leinster look like a really good side when the opposition only have 14 players but we struggle when the sides are even. Our defense is so poor around the rucks,I'd love to see a Joe Schmidt coached side take us on,he'd expose that weakness ruthlessly.

Why wasn't it a penalty for slapping that pass down?

You deserve what you get. Glasgow deserved the draw because of the first half. Leinster deserved the draw because of the - first half too.

Well a draw probably a fair result. Well done to Glasgow for coming back into the game when we were down and out. Three points will do us fine

Still a deliberate slap to kill the move with no attempt to catch the ball, should have been a penalty.

If that is a penalty, then surely the knockdowns you see from restarts would also be illegal?

That's what I understood that the law was, but Nige was right on the spot and all he seemed to care about what that the ball went backwards.VinceWLB wrote:asoreleftshoulder wrote:George Carlin wrote:Why wasn't it a penalty for slapping that pass down?

I didn't watch the entire game but Leinster scored twice when Niko was in the bin, so I'm not sure whether to regard that result as 3 points gained or two points lost. Given the injuries, I think I'm happy(ish) with 3 points at the RDS.
Means we are undefeated by Leinster this season, which makes a nice change.

It seems these days means that if Nigel shows up you better have the lungs to play for 80 at top speed. Ominous ref to get these days if you're a touch off the pace for such a game!

2H - Leinster 27 - 7 Glasgow

FT - Leinster 34 - 34 Glasgow

Why,there's no law against slapping the ball backwards as long as your onside.

Re: Leinster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 27 March
I am just very heartened that Glasgow managed to steady the ship when all hope seemed to be lost and came right back into the game in the last 10 mins. I think of the two teams, Leinster will be the more annoyed with not taking the full points, if for no other reason, than they need them more than we do.
Niko almost cost us the game there and once again we see the value of of a SH that can steady and control a game as opposed to a maverick genius. It is hard to believe sometimes, but we may end up being a better team without him.

Big shout out to Big Mike Cussack as well who put in a hefty shift tonight. He does not usually play for 70 mins when he is fully fit and I can't believe that he is yet. He clearly still has the appetite which is good to see and hopefully we will see him getting back to his best over the rest of the season.

Very proud of that Glasgow performance - even as an Edinburgh fan!
Makes you wonder how Glasgow would be doing without their humongous injury list.

Yes i understand there is no law against slapping the ball down but i would say this is against the spirit of the game.

Yes, turns out the ball needs to be slapped forward to be a breach of 12.1.

Re: Leinster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 27 March
Leinster showed that they can play in that 2nd half (Nico or no Nico). So that annoys when I witness that mess of a first half, when they were trying to pretend they didn't even know what a rugby ball was! It was truly a pathetic effort at competing to the levels required to meet the top Pro12 side.
Great game by Glasgow - they played for the 80 and fought back brilliantly to get the draw. But had Leinster played with at least an intensity that Glasgow was demanding that they match in that first half then they might have had their much needed win.
Bath next week - so there is obviously some coyness potentially going on about showing too much - but I hope it pays off.

Could have done without the Leinster gamesmanship - players going down as if they were shot - but they have previous for that - the McCarthy incident last season at the RDS in the final ! TJs were homers but well reffed by Nige and the TMO.
What a conversion by Pete Horne - superb, wrong side, wrong foot into the wind. As for MB's monster penalty -wow wee man
Great game of rugby and washes away the crappy incompetence of the Scotland set up.

Re: Leinster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 27 March
For me the outstanding thing was the way Glasgow refused to lose. The real leaders stepped up and wanted the ball and took it right into the Ladyboys. Bluto, Jonny, DTH, Messiah and Hornee were all outstanding. Richie Vee had a barnstorming evening till he went off, didn't contribute too much afterwards TBH.
How anyone can argue that Clare Baldwin brings more guts to a game than Bluto is beyond me.
Glasgow are now playing for a home semi (again) and must be in with a realistic chance of being champions. Happy days indeed.
