Boxing on Sky Sports
Does anyone know what non-PPV boxing is on Sky for the rest of April and May?
I am obviously aware of the 2 PPV's in May, but is there only the card in Birmingham on May 9th in this period?
I only get SS for the boxing so it seems pretty pointless bothering...

If you want it for the boxing, you're better off with Box Nation to be honest.

Feel the same Neil, soon as the playoffs are done then sky sports is gone. Will use the money saved for the plethora of PPV's that'll happen next year and beyond.
I'm tempted by Boxnation but peed off that I have to buy 2 suscriptions to watch it on the telly and my laptop. Now BGT's started i'm stuffed on a saturday.

I rarely stay up to watch the American cards so Boxnation is pretty useless for me and with Matchroom and Sky trying to push Brook as the next British superstar expect to see them pick up a lot more cards to showcase potential opponents.
Warrens domestic level guys with the exception of BJ Saunders are a bit crap and I have no interest in watching Buglioni, Mitchell Smith (right cretin by the way) and that ilk fighting.

Sky are rubbish if boxing is what you are subscribing for. Its only likely to get worse with Matchroom calling the shots.
The boxing cards from Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Birmingham barely have a competitve fight on offer. Anything worth going out of your way to watch will be going down the ppv route.

Yeh I'd go box nation I pay the monthly subscription for their service online which I have on my iPhone so can lay in bed and watch with earphones and it's brill quality. Woke up other morning and put on Peterson vs Garcia without getting out me Pitt happy days.
Sky put on boring cards wig pants fights apart from the Froch vs Groves card. The only decent fight we get is then PPV....and even those are questionable (see Bellew vs Cleverley, Khan vs Prescott, Brook vs Gavin).....

We did mate but that's the legal stream which we pay frank for so no issue with it for us. It's the way we pay and recieve our content.
Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
not in the sense that 1/2 was waffling about Shah,
Speaking of boxing online, did anyone ever sign up the matchroom dealy where you could watch Caldwells shows, and if so was it any good?

Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
Sky's output has been very disappointing recently. There was talk at the start of the year of their being 4 PPV's. Seems obvious the wish was for these to be Froch Chavez, Brook Khan, Frampton Quigg and Groves Degale 2. Whatever one thinks of PPV these are all decent fights that you could have justify on PPV. Once these fell threw or looked unlikely to happen what should have happened is Sky and Hearn should have reigned in the number of PPV's and accepted these things happen.
What has happened is they have seemingly decided to persist with 4 ppv's without the cards which justify the expenditure. The card on the 30th is not a PPV card it is two normal cards glued together. Very disappointing.

Agree..........
He's trying to say Brook-Gavin is an all British world title fight.....and the fans love them..
But Gavin has no power and his skill level isn't anywhere near Brook's.........It's a toilet fight..Plus no one has heard of him..
and Selby and Mitchell aren't PPV..........Titles are like confetti..
Frampton-Quigg, Degale-Groves and Brook-Khan................I'll pay for............

Agree.. But haven't we been here before when Groves was announced as Froch's opponent PPV first time around.
Granted Groves had power to make it interesting and I highly doubt Gavin has it in him to make it a barnstormer, but you never know Hearn gets lucky with things as a promoter.
I do expect Gavin to be competitive for a few rounds I will say that, about 8 years ago he came to a gym near my way and the whole gym stopped and watched he sparred about 30 odd rounds and no one could touch him, definitely a talent but a Welterweight he isn't.
Cheers, Rodders

Wonder if he'll do a buster douglas or Kirkland Laing, just putting it together for one time.
Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
Frank Warren made a good point on IFL yesterday.
If they do make Quigg-Frampton it will be in July and will definitely be PPV....
So there would be 3 PPV shows inside 11 weeks.
Great.

I dont think they are serious about making Frampton v Quigg. That offer was a publicity stunt to cover an exit strategy in my opinion.

Happy to pay for Quigg-Frampo though.
But will Barry ever let him fight anything?

Id would be surprised and gutted if Frampton doesnt take on some good fights. I havent seen a great deal to suggest this will be the case. I think his team really believe in him and he has taken on some good fights so far. Martinez was a great opponent and in red hot form when they rematched him. He was a tricky test the first time too. In fact I wouldnt like to bet on Quigg beating Martinez right now.

Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
Looks like Quigg and his team have opened tentative negotiations with Donaire.
http://www1.skysports.com/boxing/news/12040/9805386/scott-quigg-could-fight-nonito-donaire-and-guillermo-rigondeaux
Did like the part where Sky say it would be Quigg 'giving' Donaire a 'high-profile crack' at the title, I must say. Clever wording! Obligatory stance of not wanting to fight Rigondeaux but inevitably trying to find a way around actually saying it thrown in for good measure by Gallagher, too.
Normally I wouldn't pay much attention to an article like this, but Donaire's quote seems to back up that a real approach has been made, and Donaire is usually a very straight shooter. Says he's happy to come to the UK as well.
If Matchroom don't / can't get the Frampton fight then this would be a good move to save face.

It would be a top fight but Im not holding my breath. Quigg has wanted to fight everyone in the division for years now and Donaire was being pencilled in to fight in Macau in July.

Yeah i heard that too on July 18 so can only see Quigg fighting a WBA 'world ranked' contendr. Quigg to win and then his trainer to give it large after the fight

Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
Donaire can cancel his plans for Macau if he can get Quigg in the UK surely?
Fairplay to both fighters if this gets made. And Eddy could use landing a big fight right now.

Eddie will probably take a picture with a cheque and say Donaire isn't interested...............

Re: Boxing on Sky Sports
Donaire fight also allows Matchroom to play the "bigger name bigger fight" card to excuse Frampton not happening.
Still think it won't happen though.......could tee up an interesting Rigo-Donaire quasi-unification rematch if it does though...!
