Boycott claims Yorkshire would beat England
I assume he means England minus any Yorkshire players - and the team he selects for Yorkshire contains two overseas players. How do people thing a match between the following would go?
Yorkshire:
Lyth, Lees, Williamson, Root (c), Ballance, Bairstow, Rashid, Bresnan, Plunkett, Brooks, Sidebottom
vs
Cook (c), Robson, Hales, Bell, Taylor, Ali, Stokes, Buttler, Jordan, Broad, Anderson
Yorkshire:
Lyth, Lees, Williamson, Root (c), Ballance, Bairstow, Rashid, Bresnan, Plunkett, Brooks, Sidebottom
vs
Cook (c), Robson, Hales, Bell, Taylor, Ali, Stokes, Buttler, Jordan, Broad, Anderson

So would Boycott pick Cook, then 10 of the English Yorkshire players in his England XI? Biased?

Re: Boycott claims Yorkshire would beat England
I think he believes that the England team is badly selected, badly coached and badly captainded - with stress on the latter two.
Only Dickie Bird is dumb enough to thing England should be all Yorkies.
If we had the two teams I have outlined - England should win a test series. Yet it is feasible that that Yorkshire XI could win. England's batting order could show promise but a fair bit of inexperience, while the Yorkshire on is inexperienced at the top but strong 3-6. England would have the best bowler - but yorkshire offer more variety.

Re: Boycott claims Yorkshire would beat England
I assumed he meant the Yorkshire team that he stated, against England including the Yorkshire players. As his comments are off the back of the last series that had Root and Ballance playing, you'd also have to include Trott in the team as well.
I can't really answer the question of who would win, but I do know it was just another chance to put the boot in!

Boycott is an attention seeking at times entertaining idiot who from time to time gets it right in the same way that a stopped clock does.
This is not one of those times.

Something tells me his Yorkshire through and through attitude is the real thing here. Graves (at Yorkshire) was criticised by Cook so Boycott goes bananas. He's probably a tad wound up that another two Yorkshiremen in Rashid and Lyth never got a game heightening his angst.

Cook rather stupidly criticised, every Yorkshireman. If this had been about say Pakistan, he'd have been forced to resign
I like Boycott but think he has it in for Cook and Moores (who of course don't help themselves with not risking the likes of Rashid) and so normally sympathise with him - particularly with the ridiculous get KP back in the team campaign
But Cook is simply out of order on this occasion
He's beginning to make Hussain's captaincy spell look as laid back as David Gower's. Currently England cannot be defended, so it's ridiculous to do so

I suppose it takes an arrogant opinionated person to know one. Difference is Boycs is far more 'on the money' than you are. His comments about Trott and Mohen stated before they were proved to be right, illustrates this. Didn't he also say that he told them not to open with Root and his best position was No.5. In fact it's hard to remember a comment he's made that was demonstrably 100% wrong
I think people like to judge him on their stereotypical view of him, rather than what he says

I do agree there are much areas England can be criticised in at present but do think Boycott's seen red. I understand Cook speaking out to be honest. Heck Graves is English though offered up the ideal motivation to the West Indies. Pretty daft thing to do.

Well, there was the whole Anderson > Steyn thing, which he spouts out every time Anderson has a decent series.

If Geoffrey can bring himself to say that about a Lancastrian then he must truly believe it!
