Cyclone Promotions Press Release Empty Cyclone Promotions Press Release

Post by hampo17 Thu 28 May 2015, 7:12 pm

Undefeated IBF Super Bantamweight World Champion and emerging superstar Carl "The Jackal" Frampton is pleased to announce that he has signed a deal to work with influential boxing advisor Al Haymon.

Haymon currently works with a number of leading boxers including Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan, Adonis Stevenson, Adrien Broner, Robert Guerrero and many others.

Al Haymon will work as an advisor to Carl Frampton, who will continue to be managed by IBHOF member Barry McGuigan and promoted by Cyclone Promotions.

Speaking on the agreement, Frampton said: “I am very happy to have signed with Al Haymon. Al Haymon has a formidable reputation in boxing and has been the catalyst to securing the biggest fights in recent years. This is an exciting stage of my career after winning my world title, and my team and I know that this relationship with Al Haymon will help take my career to the next level. I am looking forward to it.”

Frampton's manager and former World Champion Barry McGuigan said: "We are delighted to add Al Haymon to the team. Al Haymon is the best at what he does, there is no question about this. Al works with many world class fighters in the super bantamweight and featherweight divisions, so there will be plenty of attractive fights for Carl in the coming years. Carl is moving towards the peak of his career and we believe this is the perfect time to strike up this partnership."

There will be news of Carl Frampton's second defence of his World Title coming soon.

The Quigg fight is unlikely to happen as Frampton has gone to work with a much bigger player in Al Haymon. Young Edward can sink to the bottom of the sea for all Barry cares now.

You have to now question what exactly Mcguigan is now bringing to the table for Frampton, Haymon in an advisory capacity pretty much means a management role.

May 23rd and May 9th would suggest it has been more likely to now happen not that Hearn is staying up every night bemoaning this fight not happening yet, he unlike Mcguigan does have various other avenues to pursue.

Where does al's cut come from... Barry's or carl's slice of the pie.

Sounds like haymon's told them if they want the fights, pay the percentage... And don't forget to thank me before you thank god.

I'm with Hammer and Milky on this, think it shows that they need some help to make the big fights and they might find themselves wishing they'd grabbed that 1.5mil with both hands.

Don't think Eddie's that fussed now to be honest Strongy, everything that's been said is that they've made the offer and it's up to Barry to come back round the table, not the other way round. (Whether you agree or not)

Think the fact that Ed has what seems like a great working relationship with Haymon that there's more chance of it happening now than there was before.

This has to be good news for those who've been yearning for Frampton/Santa Cruz. Barry has to be that little bit more confident after the Mexican's last sub-par performance though Barry's too smart to know that wasn't the real Santa Cruz.

Not too bothered about Frampton/Quigg for now if this one gets made.

Frampton against Santa Cruz has no chance of happening because everyone on Leo's side knows he loses and loses comfortably, it was the real him against Cayetano, it just happens to be that he's not that good.

Jeez you must know something I don't...

Santa Cruz does not want to fight Frampton, in fact he doesn't seem to want to fight anybody with a pulse and having moved up to Featherweight that seems unlikely to be changing any time soon.

Heard it all now.

Leo Santa Cruz doesn't want to fight Carl Frampton.

Having been saying on YouTube for years it's a fight he wants to make if the fans want it.

Because Hammersmith Harrier says so...

That should be your first clue, he's been saying these things for years and none of the fights ever happen but if he says so it must be true, not like he has the backing to make any fight he wants quite easily.

That's it HJ, i've long held the opinion that Santa Cruz will avoid any top drawer boxer as a pre-emptive retaliation for you disagreeing with me on an unrelated subject. Were Santa Cruz serious about taking on the top men his best opponents to date wouldn't be past their best blown up flyweights.

Been saying for years that Frampton beats Santa Cruz. Even Gerry, the staunchest defender of all things Mexican, came around to the idea.
Tougher fight than Quigg though. Perhaps Hearn should have been fair when they discussed the fight last time.

Well this doesn't bode well.

Fast Car is beating Haymon 4-1 in fights at the moment. And the Burns fight was debatable.

Fast Car is Haymon's kyptonyte.

... For all his influence al still doesn't seem to have grasped the basics of boxing promotion/management. His shocking oversight in neglecting to purchase the judges on his own promotions is tantamount to gross negligence.

Or have I got him wrong. Maybe he takes a cut of future revenue from the winners on his bills.. So he stitches up his own fighters.

You know the rules at the minute Truss, Quigg is responsible for everything that is currently wrong in boxing. It used to be Cleverly but he lost, so it is now Quigg's fault.

I don't get this 'he'll be seething/upset/worried' malarkey, Hearn has a good working relationship with Haymon who also seems to know how to sort certain issues out. If anything he'll be happier that he can now deal with Haymon who knows the value etc rather than deal with Barry.

Its Al Haymon who won the purse bid to ensure Degales world bid was away from home.

Its also Al Haymon who's advising Khan,Eddie Hearn's had Wembley booked for June for a Khan/Brooks fight, how come it never happened, just coincidence.

Haymon can make Frampton even more marketable in the US, where there's a large Irish population, then lets see how friendly Hearns and Haymon are when it comes to negotiating.
