No chance on De la hoya beating that beast at lightweight in my opinion.
In Fact I would pick duran to win at any weight.

Mayweather beat him handily enough at 154. to be fair Oscar was quite inactive at the time and did fade later in the fight. Shane beat him first time, (possibly juiced) I have Oscar winning the rematch.
I think Sturm beat him easily enough and obviously Hopkins, though I think Oscar was punching above his weight at Middle.
I will not hold the Pacquiao loss against him. He looked ill and never stood a chance that night!

I scored Mayweather - Oscar a draw mate.........It certainly wasn't "handily"
WTF has Sturm at middle got to do with Duran at light ??

U serious??
I had it 8-4 Floyd! Oscar was the aggressor but Floyd landed the far cleaner punches.
If he can lose to a fighter the Caliber of Sturm, it is possible he could lose to Duran at any weight.
I said I pick Duran to win at any weight.

I'd probably stick Jones and Toney in somewhere in the list and give Sturm a miss but really can't argue over-strenuously with your post-80 picks, Truss. Not as much as I would with your pick for all-time king at 160, anyway!
No bigger fan of Robinson than me but at middle, he can't be above Monzon and Greb, of that I'm certain. 8-6-1 in title fights or whatever it was just isn't quite of the standard required, no matter how good his opposition. He'd be 4 or 5 in my list, although I've seen others put him in at 6, 7 or even 8, behind the likes of Ketchel and Fitz as well as the other members of the consensus top 5, and not thought it completely wild or inaccurate. Greatest welter and fighter of them all, but the perfect punch, finally handing LaMotta his sorry backside and endlessly drubbing Bobo Olson do not make a solid enough CV for me to award him an all-time gold medal at 160.

Most lists do have Greb at number 1...........Pretty loathe to have a guy number 1 I've never seen....Though he must have been some fighter.....
Monzon's reign seemed to mirror Norris at 154.........Lot's of excellent old fighters with a bit of good and average chucked in.....
Kinda why i have Robbo number 1..
Pre-1980s isn't my forte. But that's where I am....Happy for others to disagree..
Mayweather-Oscar was closer than 8-4 Adam..............Oscar dominated early for me..

Ha!. Oscar loses to Duran wherever they fight. with the possible exception of Middleweight. Oscar isn't the type to give Duran problems, hasn't the finishers instinct, hasn't the power to fend off Duran except occasionally and can't match Duran on the inside. Throws long shots and his hooks are usually wide. The few times he does throw fantastic short shots theyre in positions where Duran is king, leveraging the opponent into somewhere between short range and mid range where he can hit to the body and head and his opponent, usually someone bigger than him gets tangled up in their own size. Plus Oscar gets frustrated when he misses and starts going a little wild. One of the funniest scenes I remember from boxing was when Oscar was chasing Sweet Pea around he threw about ten punches managed to touch him with the last atom of the glove and ran around waving his arms in the air. Duran vs Oscar would be a largely one sided affair with pockets where Oscar has had his say.
Re: Top 10 middleweights 1980 - present !!!
When I first watched it I had it 7-5, recently seen it again and had it 8-4.
Oscar did win 4 of the first 5 but I had trouble giving him any after that.
Not sh1tting on Oscar. He was a great fighter and would fight anybody. He really did fight everybody.

I actually thought Mayweather was the one who was in command early, Truss. In the first five rounds I could only give Oscar one of them, might have been the second from memory. I thought it was more in the middle-ish stages that De la Hoya got back in to it as he arguably won all of 6 (think I had that a 10-10 last time, though), 7 and 8. I felt that Mayweather basically dominated 9, 10 and 11, with the last round capable of going either way, really.
I felt it was competitive without necessarily being that close. I suppose there's a conceivability that it could be scored as narrow as 115-113, but that's with Mayweather winning his seven rounds very clearly and giving Oscar every single shred of the benefit of the doubt. I think anywhere from three to five points as a winning margin for Floyd felt about right, and in terms of rounds 8-4 has generally felt like the going rate, for me.

Re: Top 10 middleweights 1980 - present !!!
I had it even after about 8 with Oscar looking like he was getting on top, then he stopped throwing the double jab, gassed and Floyd pulled away. I had it by 3 or 4 for mayweather from memory and felt 2 point margin was about as good as you could have it for Oscar.
However, It did make me think that a younger Oscar likely would have won. I have to caveat this with the fact that Oscar had a tendency to fade down the stretch even when younger... And mayweather has made a career of pacing himself.
As for Oscar Duran. Stylistically, I think truss has a point... Irrespective of his size at the weight I always felt Oscar looked lighter on his feet and frankly a better fighter below 147. I wouldn't make anyone favourite against Duran at lightweight but Oscar is a guy I'd give a shout to.
