Classic TNA - Abuse them whilst they're still standing!
With the positivity approach being taken by one Mr Adam Davey of Wales (currently residing in whichever Scottish pub will have him) in the TNA news thread, and the Meltzer induced breakdown he is having in another, I thought I would start a thread where we can take a nostalgic look back on some of the funniest mistakes and mishaps in TNA history.
This one is a favourite of mine...skip to 3:57 and hear the crowd go mild

Ok. this one is mainly Steiner's fault, but honestly I've not had as enjoyable a 9 minutes since some sort of joke about your wife.

I just remember this for the the shoddy lighting & the fact that people started touching the cage and it did nothing

This could be the longest thread on the board. My contribution The Blindfold Match. "They are at opposite sides of the ring and don't even realise it". "Both men go for a punch. And neither connected." They should have just given them a donkey's tail to pin rather than an opponent.

Is it worth pointing out that both matches posted by Nando and P were both on the same Lockdown card

TNA have nevah...NEVAH...had a bad moment. It was all pure comedy gold!
Well, a couple spring to mind for me.
1. Karen Jarrett as manager of the Knockouts. It was like she was managing a modelling agency, rather than pro wrestlers. Occasionally funny...mostly cringeworthy.
2. Having Eric Bischoff bow out by being trundled out of the arena in a portaloo. I know he was the "evil mastermind", but they could have come up with something a bit classier.
3. Their booking of Sting following his last title run. He could have been TNA's "Undertaker", but instead they mainly used him to get new talent over. Got kinda boring, watching him lose, either clean or dirty. Best part of that time was his Joker phase and watching him terrorise Bischoff backstage.
4. Angle's VERY shortlived feud with Jeff Hardy (he was jealous because his kid apparently liked Hardy more). I think it lasted all of 1 match. Take this as a catch-all for all the poorly-conceived / good-but-fluffed / cut-short-for-no-apparent- reason storylines.
5. Gut Check. Great concept but not followed through with, as pretty much none of the winners went on to feature in shows for any length of time (apart from that greasy-looking guy who looked like a 70s p0rn star).
I'm guessing there is still pently of fuel for the fire for subsequent posters...

Re: Classic TNA - Abuse them whilst they're still standing!
On occasion I'll just drop in moments I've been reading about over the past few days:
Moments before the very first TNA broadcast, the company held a dark match featuring a morbidly obese black wrestler named Cheex and his valet "The Brown Eye Girl". Cheex's immense weight damaged the ring, and the ring crew had to act fast to repair the damages before the PPV went live. (They did, obviously.)
The Dupps, a hillbilly tag team originally from ECW, helped TNA break new ground when the company introduced an incest aspect to their gimmick: a valet billed as both their cousin and girlfriend, Fluff Dupp, accompanied the team to the ring.
A tag team called The Rainbow Express used a gay gimmick as heels (TNA targeted the South as its primary audience). Color commentator Don West made awkward homophobic remarks about the team while heel commentator Ed Ferrara sounded educated and tolerant in comparison. Oh, and the Rainbow Express debuted after the cousin-Fraking Dupps, which the commentators didn't seem to care about all that much.
TNA had not one, but two terrible Winkle-related gimmicks:
Richard and Rod, The Johnsons, were literally a pair of wrestling cocks managed by Mortimer Plumtree.
The Hot Shots -- future Raven follower Cassidy Riley and future "Natural" Chase Stevens in their first TNA appearances -- wrestled with giant bulges in their pants (i.e. tubesocks jammed into their tights). They cut a promo that consisted of three brief lines ("We're pricks. We are proud. And we are protruding!") and grabbing their 'dicks' afterwards.
The first month of weekly PPVs featured a midget match on nearly every show. The short-lived midget division included Puppet, a psychotic dwarf who threatened to kill other midgets and once masturbated in a trash can before asking backstage interviewer Goldylocks if she wanted some of his "porridge"; Meatball, an obese midget; and Teo, an "extreme" midget who once tried to force his way onto one of the cagedancers.

Oh I dunno...that was quite funny (and creepy). His matches with Ken Anderson where the crowd would chant "Creepy B*****d" were okay. Having Gunner (what's happened to him?) visit Shaw in the asylum was an interesting angle.
I think the character had potential as a great heel with his stalker / hitman style, but then they tried to turn him face with Gunner rehabilitating him and it all went horribly wrong. Guess they couldn't decide what to do with him.
6. Eric Young and ODB as Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They ostensibly retired the belt because of this (and still haven't brought it back - to the detriment of the Knockouts Division IMO)!

Having Jeff Hardy wrestle the main event of a PPV while drugged out of his head.

He was never on an episode of "Impact" and got "kidnapped" half way through the PPV before pinning Jarrett after a few sleeper holds and a punch #WorstFinishEver

Vince Russo at his very best... The Reserve Battle Royal.
1. You have to fight you're way into the ring.
2. You have to throw out those who do manage to get in the ring.
3. You have to defeat the other finalist in a singles match.

That and King of the Mountain. They liked doing things backwards down in Florida.

Re: Classic TNA - Abuse them whilst they're still standing!
To be honest, I really like the idea behind the King of the Mountain match!
If they kept the pin-falls and the penalty cage but removed the pointless job of having to grab the championship belt, climb up the ladder and hang the belt up just to immediately take it back down again then I would file this under one of TNA's better ideas.... but hey they are where they are!

One Night in TNA
Vader showed up, went over the Harris Brothers, and was never seen again.Paul Bearer randomly debuted at the end of a PPV, did practically nothing, and bladed in another appearance a few weeks later.
After Russo unmasked as Mr. Wrestling III, Mr. Wrestling IV showed up and unmasked to reveal himself as Nikita Koloff (who hadn't been seen in a pro wrestling event since 1992). Koloff teased turning against Russo before walking out of the company completely, never to be seen again. (Smart man.)
When Bart Gunn made his TNA debut, Mike Tenay hyped him up as a former major superstar from WWE. Gunn joined S.E.X. and lasted about a week.
Moondog Spot tagged with Jim Duggan and went over S.E.X. leaders Gilbertti and Sanders in under two minutes. He never showed up again. (Smart man.)
Viscera debuted in the role of Ron Killings' bodyguard. He disappeared after two weeks.
Mike Awesome hung around with The New Church for a few weeks, then inexplicably disappeared.
Lex Luger arrived in TNA while still under indictment for thirteen felony drug charges following the death of Miss Elizabeth in his home; TNA hyped his appearance as his first match since the fiasco. Before the match, Luger cut a Poopie promo in which he referred to AJ Styles as "AC". During the match, Luger almost made AJ tap in the Torture Rack, but Sting eventually saved the day. (Way to keep your top face strong, TNA!)
