Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Let's see if anyone can predict all four big race winners.
Here are my selections.
Champion Hurdle - Hurricane Fly
Champion Chase - Master Minded
World Hurdle - Grands Crus
Gold Cup - Neptune Collonges
You can edit your list as often as you like before the first day of the festival.

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Can't wait for the Festival to get underway, really is the highlight of the sporting year for me and for the first time ever i'm there for all four days (as opposed to the usual Tuesday & Friday) ... the anticipation is immense ... just need to find the winners now !!!
At the moment .. and these may change .. I fancy the following in the Championship Races -
Champion Hurdle - Menorah
Queen Mother - Big Zeb
World Hurdle - Grand Crus
Gold Cup - Weird Al (EW)
It will either be 4 days of :crying:
or could it be 4 days of

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Hey.....two new members and your first posts are on my thread........I'm thrilled!
Hi guys..........looks like I'll have some company on here after all.
I really hope this racing forum takes off........I've no friends who I can enthuse with over Cheltenham.
I absolutely love this time of year.......Cheltenham and Spring arriving together.......perfect bliss.
We'll have to have a Cheltenham quiz nearer the time.
Anyway, more selections please

Cheltenham 2011
Hey Sol,
I'm sure we'll have plenty of contributors to this forum .... Are you off to Cheltenham at all ?
I agree with you, this time of year is full of anticipation and excitement for all us Horse Racing lovers, especially the National Hunt breed. I used to prefer flat racing as i saw it as a nicer day out (warmer weather etc) and also found it easier to pick winners, but now give me Cheltenham any day of the week. Been going for years but really do enjoy it more than ever now, doing the full 4 days this year for the first time and staying down.
Can't wait ... but have made a rule this year about trying to study and pick winners too early. I reckon i spent the best part of 2 months last year building up what i thought was a decent portfolio of winners .... and bombed out completely. It was only a last day success on Baby Run & Pigeon Island that really saved the meeting.

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
grahame i know what you mean mate. i studied from quite a way out with form and trends for the festival last year and had an absolute stinker. i only really had imperial commander as a winner but that was only each way as i bet with my heart on denman.
this will be the first year since 2006 i wont be going to the festival i think but i only live half hour away from the course so im sure closer to the time i could well be tempted.

No Grahame, I've never been to Cheltenham.......I'd rather watch it on TV....I think you see more that way...I like to scrutinize each race very closely lol.
I know at home you haven't got the atmosphere but I don't like crowds and I'd hate it if the weather was bad.
Hope you have better luck with your selections this year

Maybe you should look into running a tipping competition or start a daily thread similar to what they do on 606. could well draw a few more people on here
Just a thought

Hi enigma_that_is_HARCHIBALD,
I've just had a look at the 606 daily racing thread, I wouldn't be able to do anything like that as I don't understand betting at all.
Also I never know when I can be online as my working hours are all over the place.
I think it would be a good idea tho'.........maybe someone else would like to start one.
Like you say, it might attract a few more people..........I think most the posters on 606 will stay there till the bitter end..........then we should get busier on here.
BTW what would you like to be called for short, how about enigma?

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Champion Hurdle-Peddlers Cross
Queen Mother-Master Minded
World Hurdle-Big Bucks
Gold Cup- Long Run (Tidal Bay is massive ew @40s)
Promises to be a vintage Festival with a cracking 4 or 5 way go for the Champion Hurdle,a 2 or 3 way go for the Queen Mother,a bona fide challenger to Big Bucks in the World Hurdle(Grand Crus) and a Gold Cup with the old guard trying to fend off a young upstart.Only got a very small antepost in the shape of Peddlers @ 16s,dont bet much at all anymore,i just enjoy it for what it is.

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Neptune - Bobs Worth
Arkle -Ghizao
I think granduet looks to have improved enormously and has a massive chance in the truimph.
Of the handicap races, Arrayan is the only horse i will be looking for is he runs. I think this could be Pipes horse for the Imperial Cup-Cheltenham double

Re: Cheltenham Festival Predictions
Hi Steveo77 (can we call you Steve?)
Welcome to the forum,
As you can see Grahame is hoping to run a tipping comp once a week on a Saturday.
Hopefully we can have some sort of Comp during the 4 days of the Cheltenham Festival.
I don't know exactly what it will be and who will run it, so it might not come off.
It's no use anyone looking at me as I'm completely clueless when it comes to betting,
I'd never be able to work out the results lol......very embarrassing having to admit that, but it's the truth.
Anyway thanks for joining us......keep posting......hopefully we'll get busier as Cheltenham draws near.

World Hurdle - Still Big Bucks - Grand Crus will not win.
Gold Cup - Denman
QM Chase - Master Minded
World Hurdle - Big Bucks
Gold Cup - Kauto Star

This is the race I'm most looking forward to this year.............it's Grands Crus all the way, for me.
Welcome to the forum gregers.........great to have you with us........hope you enjoy it here.
This racing forum seems to be shaping up very nicely.
I'm going to do some more, shameless, touting for business on 606 later.........I actually tried poaching someone from another forum yesterday.........it didn't work lol.
