Warren Triple World Title Show - Page 2 Empty Warren Triple World Title Show

Post by rob-glos Mon 17 Aug 2015, 2:11 pm

First topic message reminder :

Andy Lee vs Billy Joe Saunders has moved to Manchester after Andy Lee's "virus".... Although he looked fine at the press conference.

Terry Flanghan makes first defence against Diego Magdelano which should be a decent fight.
Liam Smith fights for vacant WBO LMW belt against a French guy I've never heard of Michel Soro.

It's a WBO extravaganza with Jack Catterall's bauble too.

All in all a decent enough card except it will no doubt look very different once we find out there are unsigned contracts, "viruses" etc....

My main issue is the ticket pricing.
Every time Warren puts on a bigger show he takes absolute liberties with the tickets.

Manchester Arena is 20-odd thousand.
The top tier isn't great to watch from and the front section of the top tier is £80 and the cheapest seats on the bottom also £80. Front section of bottom tier are over £200.

Was considering going but that is outrageous money.

Can't see them selling it out at those prices.

Hilariously.....

Saunders has got cut in sparring and rumours are its off.....
Suspect the whole card will get shifted to a venue with a capacity of about 8000.

How's your luck Frank?

It is strange how these things always happen to the shows where ticket sales are poor....

http://www.irish-boxing.com/lee-versus-saunders-off-warren-to-make-announcement-re-ww3-card-today/

The boxing rumour mill is churning out Andy Lee versus Billy Joe Saunders cancellation talk.

Frank Warren has revealed he will make an announcement re the WW3 card, which is set to play out in Manchester on October 10 late today.

And the Internet is rife with talk that Lee versus Saunders will be cancelled and Derry Matthews will be added to the bill.

The has been no conformation the WBO middleweight title clash has been cancelled, but there is talk that challenger Saunders has pulled out.

Lee has been in training and reports from his camp have been positive as of and up to yesterday.

If the bout does fall through it will be another blow for Irish fight fans, who had to deal with seeing the clash moving from Limerick to Manchester last month.

It has to be said the sources that leaked news of the change from Thomond Park to Manchester Arena haven’t confirmed the above news, but Irish-boxing.com have been told Saunders has pulled out of the October 10 clash.

With Saunders being mandatory for the title it seems likely the clash will be rescheduled again rather than cancelled all together.

Yep, Lee-Saunders off till November/December.

Those ticket prices are looking even worse now the only decent fight is off.

Apparently Warren is trying to get another "world title fight" added to the card... Expect Derry Matthews will be added in the next day or two against a dustman from Nicaragua

That's always the stinger. In classic Frank fashion, card still goes ahead and the consumer/fan gets bled dry for what were already rip-off tickets but now are just horrendous.

You've more chance of getting six numbers on the lottery coming up than getting all the fights initially announced actually happening at the minute.

I'd rather pay £250 for watch Truss in action at the Blue Oyster with "Big thick Rick". (is that the name of the bar? been a while since it was mentioned).

Woeful night of boxing for the price points of the tickets.

Liam Smith dodged a bullet there. Soro would have won convincingly.

Instead he has an American who nobody has heard of with a low KO rate

Thompson's technically sound but not the best chin. He did win ESPN's 2015 Boxcino Tournament Final, Super Welterweight Division. A cracking stoppage win over Brandon Adams.

Liam Smith, on the other hand, has 20 wins and has beaten absolutelly no one to warrant a World title shot.
