Long Island serial killer - 17 victims and still counting.....

Probably the biggest serial killer still on the loose today..

Long Island killer is still on the loose after 5 years of murdering mainly Ladies of the night ..Some were students trying to pay their way through College others girls lost to their addictions....Victims have been mainly found in the Gilgo beach area which is a beautiful piece of coast found in the South South/West part of the Island (Suffolk County). If you're ever in NY you should go.... lots of movies have been set there......Most famous probably North by Northwest with Cary Grant........Two/three hours drive from Roxbury......Or one the way my brother drives.

Anyway this guy is a particularly sick b**tard also referred to as the Craigslist killer.....Craigslist was an advertising site where prostitutes advertised their wares to potential clients so basically these girls came to him......He must have had a very good manner because at least a few of the girls who died decided against taking their usual chaperons with them or didn't take their usual precautions.....

Initially the police were looking for a girl called Shannon Gilbert who was last seen being pursued by a man in the area.......Banging on a local resident's door in a panicked state (In fairness the resident told her to stay with him till the Cops came but she decided to carry on running) The last he saw was her being pursued into a field by the beach.....Any how the guy called the police and whilst searching for her.. found ten dead bodies on the coast line...

One of the victims had a little sister and one night she got a call from her missing sister's phone...Thinking her sister was alive she answered to find a Man's voice on the line.......After finding out who she was..he started laughing at her and telling her in very descriptive detail how her sister died and how she'd be next.....He called several times and whilst the police tried to get a track he was never on the phone long enough to track in.....

Funnily enough the police aren't sure supposed first victim Shannon Gilbert is one of the victims.........

Frustrating case...

Forgive the bump......See a well known Architect has been arrested for four of these crimes so I imagine they think he did all of them but are sticking to what they can get like the Atlanta child killer....Mobile phone technology seems to have put him in the relevant areas and DNA looks to have finished the job....

Just awful.  Saw the recent headline but didn't pay any more attention to it.   Makes me wonder whether more could have been done to track down such people.  The unibomber was discovered because his hand written manifesto was published and his brother recognized it.   He alerted the police and it took them about 4 months to follow this lead (one of many presumably) which led them to his shack and him preparing another parcel bomb.

The case had been reopened in the last few years through pressure and because the Chief of police at the time of the first investigation was so inept and corrupt..Sacked the leading Detective back then and told him he didn't want what he'd already learned on the case ???...Really !!..

The Chief later went to jail with people thinking it could be him...he had a history with Prostitutes...

My understanding is that this Architect was messing around calling Prostitutes again and they had to arrest him now because they couldn't risk another victim...

Neighbors are shocked but aren't they always ???.....Lived in Apple pie valley.
