RIP Wes Cravan
Can't believe on a movie thread like this that the King of horror has not been RIPED.
Wes Cravan who brought us Freddie Krugar, and Michael Myers has died.
You guys are pathetic

And to spell Freddie's surname correctly.
And to realise that it was John Carpenter who brought us Michael Myers.

Such a stickler for details. Alien is my favourite film of his.

Re: RIP Wes Cravan
Think the sign of a great modern day director is the amount of sequels his work gets after the initial film is completed......Some may say It's an even bigger compliment to horror directors considering that horror is pretty much shunned by many customers that either look down on it or just don't like the genre....(You pays your money..You takes your choice)
Argento.....Four flies, Cat o nine, Crystal plummage.....Demons 1 +2
Carpenter...Halloween, Escape from ......
Romero......The living dead series.....
For me Craven is in this company and it's a helluva compliment...(i have Argento as the best horror director ever).....With his Elm Street, Scream and Hills series
Craven like the above was old school a director that actually cared about his product...Mainly because he was heavily involved like the above in the pre-production in different capacities......Something terribly wrong these days with Directors that don't get it !!!!.........
For me his best movie was The Hills have eyes..........Shoestring budget movie that kept the atmosphere going throughout....Followed by Scream.....
Like the other horror directors he also seemed to get less interested as he got older..(Cursed, Pulsed.... being well below his excellent standard)....Giving up the directorial side most of the time to the movies detriment.......
He is rightly credited by Johnny Depp for bringing him to the attention of Hollywood....Elm Street 1 being his debut.......Funnily enough Craven didn't rate him but his daughter liked the look of him........If you ever watch Elm street ...see how very few close ups there are of Depp with material !!......Craven found his acting lacking...
Nothing but respect for the man....Like the amiable Romero and unlike Carpenter and Argento.....He was regarded as approachable, humble and self deprecating....
Did a lot of work for animal rights too..........
Last of a dying breed of guys that write, direct and produce their own movies and it's a crying shame....
Anyway that's my tribute......and it's been a pleasure to write...
Farewell.........
