Wales to play England. Again.
First topic message reminder :
If this is correct, then I'm afraid it is the beginning of the end for rugby union. Test rugby will have finally destroyed domestic rugby.
Surely they have the date wrong?

WalesOnline: Wales are set to play a one-off Test match against England at Twickenham next May ahead of the two countries respective tours Down Under.
It’s understood the game is to be staged on Sunday, May 29 next year, with official confirmation expected soon.
Surely they have the date wrong?

Surely it should be the poster that arrive on a thread and their first post is a foul mouthed insult aimed at the man and nothing to do with the topic, that should really wind their neck in?

Have a look at your posts and ask yourself why posters who are normally friendly and informative suddenly act like that and if there's anything you're doing which could be deemed as provocative. If you don't see anything then I'd be prepared for the occasional post like that but then I guess that's your aim.

Great example of the pack mentality is this thread.

Ha nice one. Go back to the start of this thread, and spot the lovely bit of fishing from SecretFly that kicked the very classy comment.
Fly tried to bait the Welsh fans with a snipe regarding this game being another 4th AI. It was pointed out that there are differences between the 4Th AI in the regular season, and this game at the end of the season. Then he played the ignorant card, which lead Chunky to say just put him on 'ignore'. Which lead one of this forums moderators coming in with the foul language, and showing his class.
So to be honest, if the pathetic fishing attempts were dealt with by the mod in question we would be discussing the topic at hand. But because he came out with that gutter mouth, we are now dragged into another one of these pathetic 'well I may be bad, but your worse' circle-moan-fests.

It goes back months with Chunky, Ireland and Ulster. If you really want to back him fine but as I've said people will make their minds up.

Re: Wales to play England. Again.
If this is a capped test match, it will be ridiculous. Test rugby is the pinnacle of the sport, and as the clubs will have priority over the players, this match isn't even the pinnacle of the weekend.
Have the Saxons play Wales A. Or Georgia. Or the Barbarians. Or a club side. But don't try to dress this shambles up as a test match to make an extra few quid on the gate.

It's got sod all to do with backing anyone.
I come here to post my options, and chat/debate with other people. If I agree with a poster on one topic it doesn't mean I will on another one. And likewise for disagreeing.
However if you think that I'm teaming up with Chunky, fair enough that's your opinion and your free to feel so. And if that means oh disregard any of my posts as you want to perceive them as wumming then that's your loss.

Absolutely. It's just a fundraiser. But it will 100% be a capped game because it needs to be to generate the sickenign hype it will command.
It's a real shame that this is on the same weekend as the finals. The murky club v country debate just got murkier.

The date is down on the Wales Huge Fixture List For 10 Months article on Wales Online, but they we not the best source.

It would be better classed as a summer tour trial match, but I doubt they would sell as many tickets.

Then don't play it at Twickenham, where we see the actual Wales team every other year. Play it at Old Trafford, or a club ground. Sell tickets more cheaply with offers for kids. Try to capitalise on the World Cup legacy.
I understand the need for the RFU to make money. But they do not exist to make a profit, they exist to run rugby in England. They should look at the best interests of the game while maintaining a profit, not just the bottom line.
It's very short-termist. Call this a test match and people less-in-the-know who might have enjoyed the World Cup will go and feel short-changed. This will be a level or two below what they saw this Autumn. Call it what it is and make it a fun day out for families in an "emerging" rugby area and you could just cement some lifelong fans of the game.
It's just annoying. I wouldn't even mind so much if it was at Twickenham, billed as England and Wales but not capped.
Re: Wales to play England. Again.
Despite the fact I would most probably go to the game as we use any Eng Wal fixture as a big reunion I cant really see the point of it.

So... Lord Protector and Savior of Welsh Rugby, Gareth Davies, is the new man with the price on his head? I did warn you all not to be hasty in welcoming him.

That would be brilliant. Getting the game played up there would also make it easier for people in North Wales to go to.

Well if a moderator used the term so can we, right?

Wales have been capping the baa baas games for years. England havent.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this, hopefully they wont devalue the cap.

Gareth Davies is in situ too. Gareth Davies will be overseeing decisions made by Lewis that Lewis won't be there to see to fruition. Anything else would be silly from a chairman who talks with his CEO. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief that no more 'silly' things would happen when Gareth the Great came on board. It seems he's letting Lewis do 'silly' things again in the minds of some Welsh fans???
I know what I'm saying Tiger, and the Welsh folk here know what I'm saying.

Wales seem to pick and choose when to cap against the Baabaas (generally for a players milestone cap like Martyn Williams 100th and last cap).
P.S. off topic but useful info for some who are interested in it. Roger Lewis is CEO ( http://www.wru.co.uk/eng/thewru/structure/16658.php ) and Gareth Davies is Chairman ( http://www.wru.co.uk/eng/thewru/structure/gareth_davies.php ). So Gareth Davies does not actually replace Roger Lewis, but he has replaced Dai Pickering.

Re: Wales to play England. Again.
Guardian:
"England have arranged for a full international to be played against Wales at Twickenham on 29 May, subject to the approval of World Rugby. The proceeds will be used as part of the £13m compensation deal with Premiership Rugby for delaying the start of the league season because of World Cup regulations.
Wales, who are without a fourth international this season that they use to finance the agreement with their regions, will receive a cut of the anticipated £7m profit from the match, which will precede tours by both countries: England to Australia and Wales to New Zealand.
The rich get richer in the rugby world. England normally play the Barbarians at the end of May, a fixture far less lucrative than a full international. Wales had tried to persuade Australia to stay on after the World Cup and play at the Millennium Stadium in a friendly but a nation in need of funds put player welfare first.
Next week’s World Cup opener between England and Fiji will pitch the richest union in the world against one that counts every dollar. Why not invite Fiji, Tonga or Samoa to Twickenham next May or a combination of all three in the form of the Pacific islands? It would provide more entertaining rugby for a start and would do a lot more for the game."

Well not really, the money is ear marked to pay off losses incurred by hosting the wolrd cup, something most nations wouldnt have been able to do at all due to how much it costs. The NZRU nearly bankrupted themsleves doing it and whinged endlessly.
Better playing an extra game, which if its profitable is because theres an appetitie from the public ofr it, than demanding a payout from world rugby or just screwing the clubs.
Why not invite the Pislands? Because their players will be even less available that the welsh/english ones, its outside the release window and so would extend to global clubs rather than just those in the jeff / pro12 /HEC finals. The article also ignores that they are already subisdised to attend the world cup through world rugby. And lets not even mention that at leats one of those unions has been caught with its pants throughroughly round its ankles in an actresses bedroom clutching looking rather sheepish in regard to dissapearing world rugby payments into the pockets of officials
Someone has to pay for the world cup, and it looks like it will be the sponsors and idiots willing to pay for this farce of a match. Good for them, its a free market.
Yes its all about money and yes its a disgrace that its being made full cap but the "global socislaism call to arms" angle is way off base (IMO etc)
Bloody Guardian, they are just angry that the Telegraph have a picture of Sir Jonny looking especially radient.
