RSA vs Japan
There's no thread for this one - I think SA so far look less than impressive. They're trying to play at a high tempo but making mistakes, whilst the Japanese are also playing at that tempo and looking promising. They're certainly hitting hard in the tackle.
RSA should eventually win at a canter, but I wonder what will be said in the aftermath. Please use this thread to discuss that.

Poor De Villiers. He hasn't been back from injury long and every time he's passed the ball a couple of Japanese forwards line him right up. Broadhurst is a good player.

7-3 to South Africa. Try scored by Louw from a driving lineout.

Japan take the lead with a 10-man driving maul, 10 minutes out from half-time!
Thats what we like to see.

Japan score from a driving lineout and regain the lead, 10-7. Surely the Boks will go up a notch soon?

Who'd have thought the Japan team would take on SA toe to toe in a maul and come out on top!

Three tries from mauls. Fans of gritty forward play in heaven.

Re: RSA vs Japan
Even if South Africa win this game handily in the end the sight of Japan, one of the smallest sides in the tournament, carrying the Springboks over their own line with a well constructed driving maul will really stand out as a great moment.

Re: RSA vs Japan
Great from Japan so far,
They aren't getting many turnovers in defence though, which I think will hurt them in the end.

Great half of rugby by Japan. Some excellent tackling. Jones looks like he is doing some job.
How are the Scots feeling watching this?

Bismarck getting smashed backwards isn't something we're used to either!
I'm really impressed with their handling and breakdown skills, and the set piece is going OK too, great stuff Japan
Wales606- I think they've got about 4 turnovers at the ruck!

Re: RSA vs Japan
Who would thought that Japan go in to the half time 2 points behind? I did think SA would have 20 points on the board ahead of Japan.
Lets hope the second half is as good as the first half......could be an upset on the cards right now.

Yeah, but are they going to be able to do it for 80 minutes today and then get up for it again in just four days? Against a completely fresh Scotland side?
This is where the scheduling hurts the smaller nations.

It's almost as if speed and strength is a match for power if you do it right. Especially if the power is 60-years old.

They are giving SA some easy yards and not doing enough to slow down SA rucks - Think the turnovers they have gotten have mostly been from SA errors.

They were awarded it, but they might lose it if they can't provide some reassurances about financial issues

Thanks mate, I thought that there was something holding it back.
Japan are certainly looking half decent. They have SA a little worried.

Japan probably aren't gonna beat SA. They needed to face Scotland first up, because there is no way in hell they are coming close to this performance in four days.
