AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Empty AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

Post by Maverick Tue 08 Feb 2011, 2:50 pm

Thankfully we don't have to wait much longer for our next hit of golf from the PGA TOUR with the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am teeing off on Thursday and the fabulous Pebble beach course where Dustin Johnson is a somewhat force to be reckoned with having won the last 2 on the spin.

Can he power his way through the field again and capture 3 in a row, never an easy feat.

Lest we forget as well what would the AT&T be without the celebrities that participate so here is the list of who's who:

Harris Barton Former pro football player
Chris Berman Sportscaster-ESPN
Michael Bolton Musician
Tom Brady Professional football player
Brandi Chastain Professional soccer player
Don Cheadle Actor
Eric Close Actor
Jeffrey Donovan Actor
Tom Dreesen Comedian
Josh Duhamel Actor
Jackie Flynn Comedian
Kenny G Musician
Andy Garcia Actor
Thomas Gibson Actor/Director
Vince Gill Musician
Carmine Giovinazzo Actor
Oliver Hudson Actor
Huey Lewis Musician
George Lopez Actor/Comedian
Bill Murray Actor
Rob Morrow Actor
Chris O'Donnell Actor
John O'Hurley Actor
Ray Romano Actor
Tony Romo Professional football player
Kelly Slater Professional surfer
Clay Walker Country musician

Some big names in there from all walks of American Celebrity, Don Cheadle and Andy Garcia big names in hollywood over the years, Tom Brady arguably one of the greatest quarter backs to have played in the NFL, surely the Patriots greatest ever player! Tony Romo another NFL Quarter back and Michael Bolton (minus the perm of course)

But all in all a great course and a great looking field turning out on a course far removed from last weeks Pheonix Open. Who will take home the trophy.

(MODS Can you sticky this please)

My prediction (so stay clear of these!!!) - one of Kim, Mahan or Watney

Kim doesn't hit it as far as some but seems to be coming into some form now

Hi Maverick, I'd very much like to see a win for Dustin as he's one of my favorite golfers, but as you say, 3 on the bounce is a tall order. plus I can't decide if his disappointing final round at last years US open will serve as a help or a hindrance, either way it will be interesting to see which way it goes. That's some list of "AM's" as well, what it must be like to be rich and famous, swanning round California playing golf at one of the most admired courses in the world, I'm not in least bit jealous.........honest!

Sway indeed, would be good to see DJ bag 3 on the spin, I believe the last 2 guys to do this were Geoff Ogilvy and Stuart Appleby. Not an easy feat.

As for the list of AM's I would agree what a bit of notoriety and money can do to get you playing the worlds greatest course with some of the best golfers on the planet too.

I've only heard of seven of the celebs! Guess they're bigger in the states than over here...

I hope David Duval plays well again, I remember him as being one of the few who played well against Tiger when Tiger was on his game.He played some good golf at the Bob Hops.

AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Empty DJ

Post by Redrage Thu 10 Feb 2011, 9:18 pm

DJ struggling through the front 9 at MP... normally takes it to bits. A bit early to write him off but perhaps the threepeat is a bridge too far after the US Open disappointment burst his bubble up there.

Bill Murray was just on and doesn't look in the rudest of health, still getting the crowd going though!

Bill Murray has a colourful history in this event. He's known as a bit of a clown when playing up for the crowd.

As for an asshole who can say unless they know him. He's known as being a bit of an eccentric.

That said...

The Circus is now coming to a close.

Bill Murray looks certain to win his first AT&T and surprisingly his madcap antics seem to be just what his Pro needs to keep him relaxed whilst in the lead of the main event. D.A (Darren Andrew)) Points has had a solid round highlighted by an eagle pitch in on the ridiculous Par 5 14th, ridiculous due to the green!

Steve Marino looks set to miss out again on a tour win after a bad start to his round, I can't help but feel the slowness of 4ball golf on a sunday has affected a guy known to want to get on and hit it, instead he has had to wait on every shot for the Murray Circus to finally hole out, seems to have affected his usually quick routine.

Yet I find as I'm writing this I'm still finding it hard to concentrate on golf over a fine course due to the AM's being such a focal point for CBS and Golf channel footage.

D.A points takes home the win, and Marino in his frustration at slow play completely blows any chance of a play off with a drive into the beach off the Tee at 18 shortly followed by a 3rd shot into the ocean.

Thankfully that's the Pro-Am done and now next week proper golf with a fairly full field
