GGG afraid to fight Ward??
Former super middleweight champion Andre Ward believes Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin will not face him ever.
Ward told Fight Hype that he feels bad for his and Golovkin's fans as they will no longer witness a supposed Golovkin-Ward showdown, Boxing Scene noted. He shared that he was the only one motivated to give this battle a shot, but clearly, "GGG" is not up to it, citing the correspondence between their two camps.
"I was willing to fight him anywhere, anytime. I can show you the texts between my people and his people. He just doesn't want to fight me, period. He can come up with any excuse he wants to, but the fact is that the fans will never get to see this fight and it would have been a great one."
Sports commentator Max Kellerman thinks that a clash between Golovkin and Ward could not happen soon.

Boxing: Andre Ward Calls Gennady Golovkin 'Little G' for Turning Down Fight Offer
"The fight is not ready yet," Kellerman told Fight Hype. The HBO commentator understands that "GGG" would not like to fight Ward at the moment, especially he is bigger guy and the risk taste his first loss is higher with Ward.
There's a big chance these two fighters will not see each other in the ring soon as both are already focused on their respective paths. Golovkin's full attention is to unify the middleweight division. Tom Loeffler announced this intention of the undefeated knockout master in July, per a separate Boxing Scene report. The World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization king successfully captured the International Boxing Federation crown from Canadian boxer David Lemieux on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Thus, he is already one step closer to his goal.
He is also anticipating his shot at the World Boxing Council title, which the Mexican rising star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez gained after defeating Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
However, there's still hurdle on the proposed Alvarez vs.Golovkin match as "Canelo" wants to meet Golovkin at 155 pounds, per Fight Hype. On the other hand, "Triple G," the WBC mandatory challenger, refuses to go down at 155 and desires to fight only at 160 pounds, Boxing Scene informed.
Meanwhile, Ward has decided to move up to another weight level, which is the light heavyweight division, per Fight Hype. He could collide with the unbeaten World Boxing Organization, IBF and WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in the latter part of 2016 if Kovalev defends his titles against challenger Jean Pascal on Jan. 30 in Montreal, Canada, Boxing News 24 reported.
Should fans still wait for a Golovkin-Ward battle to happen?
Every real fan knows GGG is afraid to fight Ward. He knows he will lose.

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
Haha load of balls.
Ward climbing on GGG name that's all.
He needs it, he has been the most inactive Fighter ever over the past 2 or 3 years and his last few opponents have been garbage.
In the mean time GGG has been unifying divisions and is talked about fighting the next PPV star in Canelo (all be it in some magical 155 division) which would earn him millions.
Ward can keep to beating up the Paul Smith and Rodriguez of the world and then next year he will get chewed up and spat out by Krusher.
Of course that's if he does fight him.

Also I would just like to add, Canelo is the much bigger star. If I were him, I would be demanding strict drug testing for the fight, just to be sure.

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
Both as bad as each other Adam, don't think Ward wants any part of GGG but at the moment he's chasing other things anyhow.
Do think something needs to happen soon with the triple one, be it moving weights up or down as he's in real danger of stagnating and stalling his career. He's exciting and a great advert for the sport but at some point all fans want to see an actual competition

I think GGG is all hype. Time will tell.
If real drug testing is done, I think Canelo stands a good chance.

Doubt it. Drug testing has as much risk exposing how a 170lber can make 155lb as it does explaining how devasting a 160lber can be.

Ward has a real hard on for Golovkin. He should be concentrating on Kovalev - that'll be the toughest guy he's ever faced and his preperation over the past few years has been garbage.
Difficult to pick a winner. I'd need to watch both in super slow motion in order to get a feel for it.

That's what you'd have to do afterwards to determine who really won (even if someone got splattered, we all know it counts just as much if your running rings round someone even if they do knock your block off (A la Garcia/Khan.)

He's not my idol - just one of a few fighters these days I like to see fight. He's a darn sight more interestin to watch than Ward.

I watched ten mins of slow motion. Two great fighters as well. Not bin men like Willie (whatever his name is) and your man Geale. Not sure of full names. They aren't really relevant.
I think I will watch Ward fight real fighters. Come back to me when GGG fights anyone half as good as Froch.

I reckon Golovkin is a great fighter. Just needs the fights (big year next year). In slow motion, he's like Ali.

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
there's two divisions between them at the moment. Its a non starter. Don't think Canelo actually has a chance either. Beat Cotto in large part because he was the bigger guy. GGG isn't Cotto. Think he probably gets body snatched.

If GGG is properly drug tested, I think Canelo on points.

Did I say it was? You suggested drug tesing would catch out GGG (let's ignore his successful amateur career when he was subject to testing as stingent as anything Canelo has ever faced) and I said there's as much chance of it catching out Canelo who cuts and blows something extraordinary.

Reckon Ward fancies his chances against guys a stone heavier than him? He wouldn't even go up half a stone to fight Dawson.

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
Golovkin doesn't want Wardat 68 for now true because it's not commercially advantageous right now but truth be told I'm not sure Ward fancies GGG too much either. Wouldn't go to Nottingham and can't get Golovkin, not having too much luck is he? And lately, there's no rush for a Kova fight. Superb fighter Ward or superb spoiler anyway but I'm starting to think he just likes a soft defense. If the Kova fight never comes off, it really will look funny.
And what was that bit about only sending Sanchez an e-mail after he knew Golovkin had signed for Lemieux? Anyone can explain?

No. As evidenced by the "guys that can move" that's he's fought and struggled with.......? That would be evidence. You have none. Unless you mean about 90 seconds of the Stevens fight (which he won, by stoppage).

Lets assume you are not wumming here why do you think this? Is there not a chance that Canelo is just as likely to be using? Also what would your definition be of 'real drug testing' ?

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
I think that this is a fight that was never going to happen. Ward has been suffering from terrible legal issues which has kept him out of the ring, and regardless of whether the fight was mooted at whatever weight, it wouldn't have happened due to those issues. Now Ward is looking to campaign at 175 (which is 1 stone 1lb above the middleweight limit) whilst GGG is currently trying to unify the middleweight belts. Doesn't sound like they'll be getting close to each other's fists any time soon either.
Rather than see how Ward would fare against an aggressive but quite a bit smaller GGG, I'd prefer to see how he copes with the similarly-sized Kovalev - will it be a Froch-type walkover? I am not so sure. If Kovalev can get to the wiliest of wily old foxes in Hopkins, it could be very interesting indeed.

If Ward beats Kovalev and GGG still fannys about fighting Andy Lee and Eubank Jr, then we will know who was serious about fighting.
Imo Ward will beat Kovalev and GGG will call Marvin Hagler out for a showdown.

Re: GGG afraid to fight Ward??
GGG isn't the biggest MW. I think he doesn't believe he'll carry his power up with him.
If he did, he probably would have moved up a year ago.
As for ward, he fights so infrequently who cares who he fights.
With a decent ref, Kovalev will beat him. If he can dominate Hopkins, I think he'll best ward.
