Does Fury's win make your top 5 British wins of all time ?
I was in the pub yesterday and Fury's win is already been downplayed - "Klitschko was finished , Terrible fight, HW boxing is finished" and so on. However Fury accomplished what many don't do and which I can't think of anyone who predicted this, an Incredible feat against probably the most dominant fighter in the sport and on his own turf. Is it a top 5 win ?
Turpin/Robinson
Berg/Kid Chocolate and Tony Canzoneri
Buchanan/Laguna
Honeyghan/Curry
Laing/Duran
Is it in this sort of company ?
Cheers, Rodders

Yes I believe so. No matter what people think now, Wlad still belongs on a list of great heavies. Perhaps for longevity more than anything else, but he still a great heavy on paper.

At heavyweight it ranks behind Lewis's victory over Evander Holyfield (over in the U.S.) and Fitz's walloping of Corbett but that's about it.
It wouldn't make my top five - based on the nature of the win - but it's one of the best ever results from a British fighter all the same.

Better than Lewis - Holy.....
Lewis was favorite and Bowe had already creamed Holy twice.....
Fury was 4-1 against and fighting a guy that hadn't lost in 10 years.....

Tyson Fury seems to have been around for ever, while Anthony Joshua seems to be the new kid on the block. Yet Tyson Fury is 27 and Anthony Joshua is 26.
This deserved win against an all time heavyweight great in his own backyard has to be the most surprising and greatest win by a British boxer to date. It was not a lucky punch or headbut. It was controlled and tactical. And he did this while continuously pulling his oversized shorts up and swatting away a bee or something. It also cannot be argued that Wladimir didn't take the fight seriously - both he and his brother have Phd's in Sports Science - and prepare immaculately. Tyson Fury (and Wladimir) were also regularly tested under WADA procedures.
