BBBOC ban Frankie Gavin
This was after Gavin was found guilty in court of smashing a bar stool over a bloke's head in the summer in full view of children. The judge described it as "a sickening act of violence". Gavin was provided with great chracter references by high profile people within British boxing including Eddie Hearn who described Gavin as a "role model"
The judge was having none of it and said "the only thing you are a role model for is gratuitous violence in full view of children". Gavin got fined and ordered to do 180 hours of community service.
It looks like Gavin could be finished as a boxer. The board will meet later this month to discuss the length of ban Gavin will recieve.
Reactions?

Hope they come down like a ton of bricks on him. Behaviour like that shouldn't/can't be justified by anyone. Obviously boxing isn't a good thing for his aggression so find him something else to do.

Difficult to convince anybody that Gavin is a good role model after that. I think he got off pretty lightly.

Hearn has tried to convince people of things that are harder to believe. Clev Bellw being PPV and Campbell/Coyle being sworn enemies springs to mind.

Can't Gavin just get licensed by another commission, maybe the Luxembourg Commission who sanctioned the Haye Chisora fight against the wishes of the BBB of C?

Probably go to the Malta Boxing Commission mate, they've got a fair few British fighters with them.

But at least he didn't try to convince us that Bellew vs Clev 3 would be massive & sell out the O2 arena like Bellew!

Funtime Frankie is a legit rival for Jonny the Entertainer in the most misleading monikers award.

A real shame to see this happen. Gavin had the whole world in front of him after his Amateur days but sadly he hasn't lived up to his potential. A real waste of a talent

Re: BBBOC ban Frankie Gavin
The writing was probably on the wall for Gavin when he did not make the weight for the Olympic team. Being part of the elite squad at Sheffield he had every possible opportunity to achieve his potential. A failure to do so was probably an insight into his mindset and attitude. Obviously a pity to see ability and talent peed up the wall, but lets not shed too many tears for Gavin, if we have to feel sorry for anybody should probably be the victim of what sounds like an horrific assault.
Irrespective of whether Gavin could still salvage anything from his career, and I suspect it is already too late, this is the kind of thing that deserves a serious ban from the BBBoC and I'll not shed a tear if it gets one.

What is the world coming to when you give a guy a chair in a bar and you end up being disciplined for it...

Bipolar? Judging by some of TRUSSMANs posts I'd be impressed if he was bipedal!

No, that would be wholly in-American wouldn't it?
Go back to your pathetic jingoism or telling us how big your muscles are.

Re: BBBOC ban Frankie Gavin
Back to the thread....Gavin is an expendable Hearn asset and he's also not rich enough to scare the bollox-less BBC with expensive lawyers like say a John Higgins in snooker.....
The BBBC can be brave with him...
Gavin's behaviour wasn't good and the kid lacks sense and class..Then again Steven Gerrard is apparently a class act...
Wouldn't be too hard on the kid I mean it's hard to bring boxing into disrepute..

Hearn was standing by his fighter....Nothing wrong with that..
Gavin should be punished but not too hard.

I agree but the term role model was probably not the best term all things considered.
We need to see the extent of the injuries on the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident. However it has been my experience that when a boxer, amateur or pro gets involved in violence generally their punishment is heavier than a non boxer.

He's only banned until he finishes his 180 hours community service. Bit irrelevant really.

I'm sure Gavin will be back pretty soon. Hasn't really happened for him in the pros. His lack of punch power appears to have limited him to Euro level and he's never been the most dedicated.
