Question about the US market
Most of the older ones on here (looking at you Hero) would have had some form of home computer in the 80s.
Whether it was a Vic20, Spectrum, Atari XL or Commodore 64, we all had one of them.
The question I have is that when watching films from the 80s (like the Goonies etc), none of them ever had a home computer, favouring the Atari console, if anything at all.
Which leads me to my question - did the spectrum and commodore etc ever make it in the US market? All the game developers for these computers (thinking Ocean, ACtivision, Codemasters, Imagine etc) were all European (if not British).
What did the Yanks play with? (and the asian market for that matter!)

Re: Question about the US market
I got this off Wiki
"For a substantial period (1983–1986), the C64 had between 30% and 40% share of the US market and two million units sold per year,[11] outselling the IBM PC compatibles, Apple Inc. computers, and the Atari 8-bit family of computers"
So they were playing them but I say it was cooler to own a console

ZX81
Spectrum 16k (which we upgraded to 48k)
Spectrum 128k+ (the Amstrad one with the tape deck)
Atari 800xl
Commodore Amiga
PS1
PS2
Wii
Another Wii
Xbox 360
Cannot remember the Sam Coupe for my life. I always wanted a Dragon 32 at the time.

Re: Question about the US market
Sam Coupe was an independent upgrade of the Spectrum that came out just as Amigas and Atari STs hit the market, it bombed.
