First topic message reminder :

Aaron Jarvis has signed for Clermont (http://www.planetrugby.com/news/ospreys-prop-jarvis-to-join-clermont/). The Osprey's signed Rhodri Jones as a replacement I guess.

Steve Shingler (of is he eligible for Scotland or not fame) has gone to the Blues. Straight swap of Shingler for Patchell. Hope Cardiff are paying less as Scarlets got the better player (http://www.planetrugby.com/news/shingler-swaps-scarlets-for-blues/)

Blair Cowan to Worcester. I honestly wouldn't be too bothered about that.

Might already have been mentioned but Quins have signed young SA loosehead Cameron Holenstein from Pau.

Not sure if we really needed another 21yr old prop, but hopefully he has a lot of potential.

6'2 and 132kg so quite a big unit

Standard internet rumours or anyone you know to be reliable Welly?

I'd be happy with that.

Bit of both.

But since he is in contract I'm not sure.

Scott Higgo would be a good signing. At one point in his career (circa 2013 I think) he was the best blindside in world rugby. No mean feat when you consider the other flankers around at the time. It's too bad that Dragons have an abundance of back-rowers at the moment, otherwise I think we would have signed him up without haste.

It's his ability to play 8 that is interesting Tigers Mikey.

He could come in mid season after the Japanese season ends. Queensland Reds were keen to bring him back last I heard.

I used to play fly half but these days I think that all I would be useful for is as a 'traditional' prop.

My local clubs are Sarries and Harlequins. I sh!t you not:

Dan Murphy has signed for Quins. A pretty average prop, but a good ball carrier. Under no circumstances should you ask him to play TH though... Wink

Seems like a bit of a stop gap for Quins - We have a number of younger new signings and it looks like he is being brought in to add some experience. Possible back up for Lambert when Marler is on international duty.
Quins are reasonably well stocked on the TH with Collier, Sinkler and A.Jones as the experienced campaigner.

I am assuming that Rowntree will know what he is looking for and be able to mould what we have or is bringing in the props we need.

Bristol sign Jason Woodward from the Hurricanes. Good wing/fullback option and doesn't he kick for goal as well? Handy bit of business.

George.

I presume Tigers are looking at options in case Owen Williams decides to move on. That or Burns is going to become a fullback.

You could understand that with the way they treated his dad. However, players who are annoyed and want out don't normally return to peak form and start dragging their team to victories. If young George continues as is you'd have to say the new Bath coaches are probably a good thing for him and he might decide that as well because right now he's one of the few certainties in the England team selection.

Ford's reaction after the Newcastle game was commented on by fellow ST holders. As he walked round the pitch waving to the crowd you could have easily thought that Bath had lost rather than winning an eight try rout. He looked far from happy.

West as in west wales (Llanelli), not the West Country. Patchell is having a mare at fly-half, but he looks class from 15, at least he has done in the matches I've seen him in (including games in NZ).

Owen Williams is a class flyhalf when fit. Which is part of the problem. For a guy who is almost big enough to play in the backrow he does seem to pick up injuries. He's got a great passing and kicking game and will knock pens over from halfway. On the ball he's quick and strong but hasn't got much footwork. Watch the game vs Saints at WR last season to see him completely dismantle a good team and control the game, then look what happens when he leaves the field...

He was always a decent player, but I guess when you put your body on the line you will pick up an injury or two. I don't think he'll be one of the best fly-halves, but he's probably capable of earning a few Wales caps. He doesn't need to do anything fancy, a fly-half that has a good boot and can control a game well is a good enough fit - I believe there would be a couple Welsh teams keen for his signature and possible some other franglo ones.
