Froch V Johnson: How it goes
Cant wait for this, really is going to be a tough tough test for Froch especially abroad altho we know now that he can travel and well.
Assuming Johnson skills are the same as ever he is going to stalk Froch relentlessley, throw those winging windmill like rights and stiff straight lefts in combination. he will work the body and tryand sap Froch strength. Then maybe event o stop Froch later. Allt his is possible
But Froch should be able to sap Johnson power withrangy work, stiff Jabs like against AA and when he gets off he needs to hit the old man with vengence. Green tried to get away with a few flashy combos and with no real hurt behind them and Johnson just anhilated him.
this fight will turn into a war at times, Froch youth and better work on outside should get him the UD
But it wont be by more than 7-5 8-4 i reckon and it wont be easy
Viva la Froch

it will be about half 3 i think coxy001. Fight will start about half ten US time, thankfullly im on EST timezone so i get it at decent hour
Azania
i would be shocked if froch got him out of there, unless Johnson suffers at the weight or got old since Green. Johnson looked to be coming on if anything against Green

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
Froch hit sufficiently hard and accurately to force a stoppage. Plus Johnson will, I believe, be slightly off the boil due to weight issues. Froch is due a KO win also. I like GJ, but froch beats him at any time of their careers. Wrong weight for GJ unfortunately.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
Johnson has never been ko'd/TKO'd, the only stoppage loss was against Hopkins and IMO it was a poor decision by the ref as he wasn't in too bad shape.
Froch has youth on his side which will be a crucial factor and if Froch plays the same tactics as he did against Abraham then i think he wins it by 8 rounds to 4.
If Froch tries to please the American fans and judges and trials to brawls a la the usual Froch I could see it being much closer and wouldn't be totally shocked at a Johnson win.
My prediction: Froch UD

Froch UD all day long, from the sounds of things Carl himself has admitted he's unlikely to hurt Johnson

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
i only worry that being in AC and on sky again he will try make this some massive show, that would be insanity against JOhnson because when roch goes to war he gets tagged and if Johnson is as he was against Green he could potentially KO him. I think Johnson hits very hard at SM although i only have Green fight to judge it on recently. Out work, out range him and its UD
If he stops him Azania then that would be a great call, but i hear Johnson always runs with tracksuits on so the weight issuesim not so sure

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
On paper would fancy a comfortable Froch UD. However it depends how he approaches it.
I think the Kessler loss was a real wake up for him and hes more committed to his boxing now rather than trying to out macho his opponent. Pre Kessler I think this would be a real scrap but I fancy Froch to focus on outboxing Johnson as he did to AA. If Froch really ups the pressure though and goes for the KO then I think he could stop Johnson late.
Im wondering given that this fight is on Sky and Froch has been starved of coverage that he might be tempted to really try and put on a show and impress. Johnson isnt hard to find and will be walking Froch down. Maybe it will be a case of Froch outboxing Johnson early but looking to close the show in style late on if things are going as planned.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
Froch by UD and then Rachel Cordingly gets banged accordingly
Maybe it'll be such a good natured fight Johnson may unleash the black mamba on her
In all seriousness though, Johnson makes Froch work and it turns out to be an entertaining fight with Froch winning by 117-111.....
If she squeels her way through this one i might have to tweet froch asking if i can stuff my dingdong down her throat for future fights

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
I think froch will want to make it entertaining as it's the first time he's been on sky an it can be his wrongdoing. Froch doesn't have enough power, snap or accuracy to stop Johnson. He should be able to outbox Johnson easily enough but I thi k he's a better fighter than AA. GJ won't take a step backwards and will throw more. He has the physical presence to hurt froch with the overhan right. Johnson should tire late and froch should coast the last 3rd of the fight to a UD

I love Coxy's pre-Froch fight predictions.
Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
WHU
first time back on skyu ture, but he really shouldnt engage too much unless there are openings, that would be giving away his advantages unecessarily. Hopefully he fights long and make JOhnson take punishment on the way in

Hopefully Froch sticks to the same gameplan as the AA fight. If Froch can stick to the boxing and keep GJ at range I see a comfortable points win.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
i think froch is really hungery for this, he can see the title and with sky showing the fight he knows all the years in obscureity could be over and he could be up there with haye and khan if he puts on a performance. my prediction is froch KO 12th round, after he has tenderzied and exhausted johnson.

how much does Froch make for this fight does anyone know? I wonder only because people constantly talk about lost revenue from not being on sky
If Froch stops Johnson legitimatley its a massive get. Like stopping Bhop would be

People are over-estimating the challenge the Johnson represents at this stage in his career. When's the last time he beat anyone decent?

i disagree, he is competative in every fight he has Let me ask you this, since he re entered top tier fights ( im talking since bernard and the robberies and bunch of losses to no ones) who has dominated him and even when he was beaten by sound and fair UD it was by men heavier than Froch. Johnson looks good at SM, will have more snap and i think will be very challenging to Froch

OK, so the weights are in. Johnson 166, Froch 167.5.
Could it be that Johnson's burned off a bit too much?

Maybe there isn't the weight concern like Froch implied. I tend to think Johnson is a 100% committed trainer and goes that extra mile.
I see a Froch victory but 'old man' Johnson should make it competitive for a time.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
There are several ways it could be interpreted, aren't there? I think you're probably gonna be right though, 'cause there's nothing much to suggest anything significantly other than that. Johnson was 167 for his last fight.

Hard to tell from those pictures, really. Froch looks the same as usual, but then that's no surprise. He by all accounts keeps himself in close to fighting form between fights anyway. Not that I'm saying Johnson doesn't.

Providing Carl Froch does what he did in the Abraham fight he should win the fight quite easily. Froch stops him late or wins it by wide UD.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
I think Johnson has dropped too much weight. I think Froch will get the job done by a wide UD; but wouldn't be surprised to see a late stoppage.
Everybody has to age sometime and I honestly think Froch has improved since the Kessler fight and is at his peak.

I cant see past Froch for this one. He is in the prime of his career and I am going for a 10th round stoppage. I have followed Froch nearly all his career and I am glad he is now getting the plaudits he deserves.
Whats everyones plans for tonight? Im getting on the beer and Im hoping I dont crash out on the couch before it starts.
I do that and stupidly go on twitter in the morning by mistake and everything his infront of my eyes round by round

I've given up on staying up late without some kind of aid. If I'm sober I'll be asleep, so then I'll probably just catch the result and watch the fight as soon as it's online.

Re: Froch V Johnson: How it goes
Johnson is as tough as old boots, but he's also 42 years old and Froch is as fit as a butchers dog.
If froch can keep a high work rate for the first 9 rounds I feel Johnson may gas in the championship rounds, get overwhelmed and be pulled out by the ref.
Both men are decent punchers with good chins, but I think frochs youth and energy will be the deciding factor with the old fella running out of legs late on and getting stoppped.
Just had a sneaky tenner on Froch to win in rounds 10-12 (8/1 with Corals).

I'm not short of a few quid and considerably better looking than froch - I may have to drive to Nottingham when she's back and try to take frochs place in the marital bed, show her how a real man does the nasty. Or if Froch's willing to come down to 154lb I'll bloody well fight him for her (he'll probably duck me though). Of course I'd have to cut her tongue out before we even got to first base - couldnt have her screaming and hollering at me the way she was at the kessler fight the classless bint - no wonder poor old carls had bother with a perfurated ear drum. And I'd have to square all this with my missus first...
