Khan by decision !!!
First topic message reminder :
Won't be on here again before the fight so here it is...
1. Khan is like a poor man's Tommy..The only way you beat him is by burying him with a shot.....Canelo for me is more of an accumulator like JCC..
2. Not sure about Canelo's gifts as a pressure fighter...
3. Khan like Leonard v Hagler has the skills to mess him about and frustrate him...Beat him to the punch and dissuade his advances !!.
4. Fancy an upset here....Khan wins the early rounds and spoils late he can do it...Of course he could get shafted...But a moral victory would be a victory for team Khan profile wise..
5. If Khan gets blown out.....Forget I ever wrote this thread..
Khan W 12..

It doesn't appeal. They should fight guys in their own weight category in which proper boxing / fighting can be practised.
Good comparison from Milkyboy - with the "invincible" McGregor from MMA jumping a few weight categories only to get flattened in the second round.
Anyway, just supposing Khan does win. Where would it ranking in British boxing feats? Above Turpin/SRR, above Honey/Curry, above

Re: Khan by decision !!!
It would have to be the best result of a British boxer because Canelo goes up a weight between weighing and the fight. Effectively Khan would be fighting three weights above his normal fighting weight.

Absolutely will be one of the best British wins of all time

Brilliant. But I'm guessing it's a dave quote rather than a khan quote.

Another Khan quote once was "Yeah Nathan Cleverly...good young British fighter...well British but...he's from Welsh" so I doubt very much Khan even knows who Trump is prior to being given this joke by someone (not Dave)milkyboy wrote:jimdig wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Rooting for Khan after his brilliant political quip. Stupid comment from Khan about the Londoner....
Did anybody as the weigh in? I only saw the highlights so not the best to go on but khan didn't look that'small' compared to Canelo. He also appeared relaxed.

Khan looked impressive he was quite big without looking soft
But canelo never looks much bigger at the weigh ins but he bloats up loadssss and will be about 175 tonight
But yea I'm impressed with khan's Physique, he must have known about this fight long long before it was announced as it's not easy bulking up you need time to do it properly

Alvarez looked badly drained imo
Compared that to the cotto weigh in and it's a huge difference
Don't think it's going to matter in this fight but his days at caneloweight are numbered

Khan will look soft. He still dehydrated a bit. Canelo will smash his flabby tummy. Easy nigh for Alveraz.

Just watched the weigh in and thought Khan looked good. Really excited for this fight, just hope it lives up to my expectations and is competitive regardless of the outcome.

The problem is that it almost certainly won't be competitive.
Alvarez in 4. Far too big far too strong.
Hope I'm wrong, but this will/should be a massacre.

Re: Khan by decision !!!
The weigh in is a little bit deceptive, Alvarez is a strong 155lbs with a rock solid chin whereas Khan was a built up 147lber without a good chin, come fight night there will be a very clear size and strength difference.

Re: Khan by decision !!!
Khan's forearms are puny compared to Alvarez. Also compare their necks - Khans is slender and long whereas Alvarez is thick and shortish. Probably one of the reasons why Alvarez has yet to be stopped whereas Khan is more easy to hit in the neck and chin to go down. Mike Tyson was famous for having "no neck".

1. Khan can't hold a shot (Leonard had a terrific chin).
2. Canelo is no Hagler, granted, but he also doesn't fight anything like the great man. Alvarez is a counter puncher in the main, who fights in bursts ala De la Hoya.
3. Khan has terrible ring intelligence and completely lacks savvy. Leonard was the complete opposite.
4. Khan is pretty poor technically. Leonard was obviously a superb technician.
I'd liken this to Roy Jones vs Glen Johnson: quick, vulnerable guy who doesn't have the best fundamentals vs a solid technician, bit of a plodder but with the power to put the other fellow to bed.
Alvarez KO6.
Bingo!

To be fair, truss thought he'd last 12 rounds, coxy thought he'd last 10 seconds. He lasted 6 rounds, the predictions were on about a level. In fact as most (excepting the paid for real ones at the fight) judges had Khan ahead... You could say Truss' prediction had more merit than coxy's.
Bit like saying Stalin was better than hitler!

Didn't stay up for this one, but have seen the knock out. According the official cards it was quite close up until the stoppage, is this something you guys agree with?

Khan made the faster start, which was always going to be the case. Canelo took his time, found his range, set Khan up with feints and BADINGO. A light heavyweight knocked out a blown up light welter.
Terrible physical mismatch. Another GBP special. Canelo needs to fight someone his own size and, judging by their weights ten days out from a fight, that guy was ringside last night.

For such an elite fighter, he spends a lot of time on his back.
Nothing to do with race, I think he's an arrogant sod. I only like cockiness, when it's backed up.
I'm a happy man with the result. No point lying.

Re: Khan by decision !!!
I have to admit that I am impressed with the way Khan handled this fight. He started fast as expected, outboxed Alvarez for the majority of the bout and could have cruised to an easy UD were it not for that pesky full-on middleweight punch detonating on his face. The guy has a hefty pair and is rarely in a dull fight.
On his day he can outbox anyone but at this weight he cannot take the big shots. One thing is for certain - this fight did more for Khan than it did for Alvarez. I fully expect Alvarez to make some noises about being ready to face GGG then make some excuse about weight.

Yet was behind on two judges' cards (4-1 on one of them)! He would probably have lost on points - travesty though that would have been. In this case, I don't see the issue as his chin - more or less any middleweight caught by that punch would have been out. It was his concentration/defence which cost him.

It's his iq that lets him down. He has the speed not to get caught, but not the intelligence to stick to a game plan.

The undercard was that bad I was looking forward to Chisora. How bad does what has preceded it have to be to make Chisora a welcome sight?

Tommy Coyle fight last night was the most appalling..integrity-less commentating I think I've ever listened to...
Viewer expects a bit more than a Hearn PR man calling fights...
Watt should be ashamed of himself for sitting there and listening to the idiot without chiming in..

Re: Khan by decision !!!
Typical Khan defeat tbf. Physical endurance thin to non-existent (or glass-chinned to put it more bluntly) and a total lack of adequate shot-avoidance skills.
He's always had speed to burn, and yet throughout his career he has eaten so much leather from guys far slower and less agile. The warning signs were there from a very early stage. How was a guy who got decked by Willie Limond and Michael Gomez going to stand up at a level remotely close to Alvarez?
I'm starting to see parallels with Cleverly. Both had the basic skills to do well yet both are either too thick or too indisciplined to use those skills to fullest potential.

Khan did about s well as could be expected for what was a physical mismatch. Canelo needs to to start fighting guys his own size to prove he isnt just another Chavez jr relying on his weight and favourable treatment off the judges.

I would be surprised if Alvarez makes it half way against Golovkin. Hes too slow on his feet to away from Golovkin and he might look granite chinned againt fighters he outweighs but he wont against full blown middleweights I suspect.

I don't wanna hear this rubbish about Khan outboxing Cayellow before getting pamcaked by a lucky punch.
This was a dumb fight for Khan to take fuelled only by his over inflated ego which seemed reassurance that he belonged in the same category as the other elite names such as Mayweather, Pac man, and Canyellow.
Khan should have fought Brook won and then cleaned up the division.
