Pokemon GO

Pokemon Go is out today on the Google store, I'll be downloading it for my son as he is a huge Pokemon fan and if this is done right it will be amazing

There's been some other geocaching style games already out there that have been popular, this though could quite easily become such a huge craze, I await though a child dying due to rushing across a road to catch one or some diddler hanging around a known spawning spot.

thought this was only out in the antipodes at the moment

Yeah I downloaded it on the day, its not bad, the AR doesnt work on my phone though which is sh*t

Currently level 9, best Pokemon is a CP 373 Electrabuzz.

It's not technically available in the UK yet, you have to set up a 2nd ID in Australia/New Zealand and it'll work.

I've been having a go. Made the missus look for them as I drove. Was just a guy on a Pokemon map running 60mph, but it's fascinating that it has info on local buildings and stuff.

Note: he walked when it was 30mph.

Collecting Poke Stops as the passenger is a good way to refill pokeballs. You can't get your eggs to hatch faster though in a car,
It does note that you're travelling too fast for the GPS there.

Was interesting as it loads information on where you are and at 30mph it did pick up a couple Pokemon in fields. It's good that it doesn't seem to give you much for that speed as it shouldn't really encourage people to drive and play!

Got my 50th unique pokemon this afternoon, Seel popped up in my office.

any news when its officially out in the uk on ios?

No, can't see it being long now though as they launched it in Germany today.

It's not hard though to get now for iOS, I've had it since Friday for it.

Mine too.

I had no glitches when it thought I was Australian. Since it came out in the UK and I reverted back to usual it has gone all funky

Mine's currently decided that the GPS only allows Pokemon to get 3 footsteps away.

Servers taken down by DDOS attack.

This game is dog turd

Hardly been able to log in all day
When I have we've been walking around for hours and found 1 Pokemon
When we caught it it crashed and didn't get added to our Pokemon

Utter crap

Servers appear to be getting back to normal now. Still not fixed the footsteps bug though.
Just got my 2nd evolved Eevee so now have Jolteon and Vaporeon.

So is this available globally now? I'm living in Manila at the moment and I don't know whether it's here yet? I can download it but I don;t know if it works or not.

have to say im not that impressed so far, no battle decent battle system to speak of. no gym any where near, i aint walking to some pub to sit outside and have a battle. catching them soon grows boring and repetitive and lets not mention the servers, been unable to get on all weekend. needs a update asap, pretty poor so far

The servers this weekend have been awful especially as they keep adding new countries to it.
Soon as Canada got released it went down again for another 3 hours.
Is it repetitive, of course it is, but it's also had my kids asking to go on a walk every single day since we got it so to me that's a great thing.

Yeah the photos of his skull are a bit scary. The celebration was cringe as hell though.

another annoyance of mine is i get punished for where i live and work. both quite rural areas with absolutely nothing around on this game. where as my missus lives in town there are hundreds and hundreds of places to collect from.

currently have no pokeballs with no where to collect them from

With the current footsteps bug then moving about is pointless and it's all about finding a close patch of Pokestops where someone's dropped some Lures. Just sat for an hour in the middle of a triangle of Lures and am now just a tiny bit off level 17.

i just used a lucky egg and then a lure to boost my xp up, every time i caught a pokeman the game would freeze and wouldn't have saved when i re loaded it

i did at least manage to evolve some of my pidgeys for xp before it ran out

I tried playing it for five minutes in the countryside and every time I go near a pokemon I lost data. I'm now a grown man sulking over pokemon.

Stupid caterpie not worth it anyway.

The servers were shocking all weekend and the start of the week, Got up to lvl 8 and evolved some Pokemon, me and my Bro in law wandered around different estates looking for Pokemon, we looked like a pair or weirdos, well worth it though

Youngest son got an Aerodactyl, Tentacruel, Golduck and Onyx earlier.

I have a Golduck and Onyx, Aerodactyls are in the top 5 of rare Pokemon on Go, nice

Best I've got is a Vaporeon which I caught rather than evolved.

The best I caught were, an Onyx, a Venomoth and a Rhydon

They keep trying to persuade me to play this at work. God only knows why they believe I would be interested, it appears to combine two of the things I like least in life, computer games and leaving the house.

Its a good thing to give to people you might want to walk away from you though, Jeff. I'd say you should download it and have it on hand for occasions where someone talks to you.
