Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Bath 23 - 20 Racing
Not sure about Genge till I see him play more, plenty of set piece prowess outside of him though. Think the pack lacks a bit of physicality at the breakdown. Backline very good
Wasps 19 - 26 Quins
Wasps - TPN, the locks, Barritt, Burrell, Yarde, Watson all startable in those positions
Quins - Gorgodze/Clifford/Henshaw fine in those positions, rest iffy
Baldwin/Webber/Kriel/Olding all ok in a strong side
Leicester 16 - 24 Toulon
Too much power and pace in the Toulon side to not take this one for me, although I look forward to seeing how many deals Flux manages with this side!!
Worcester 23 - 27 Saints
Wuss
2nd row - Williams a back rower primarily for me, Maestri solid as ever
centres - Tait more of a FB now, but the balance kind of works - on form Bennett would work brilliantly
Back 3 - obviously start NMS but other than that its not too shabby
Bench - plenty of impact but Moody/NMS/Naka should be starting!
Saints - strong side as ever, tough to give much feedback
Exeter 24 - 30 Hurricanes
Hurricanes backs too good for Exeter here
Saracens 25 - 20 Gloucester
Saracens pack looks great, same criticism as last week in the backs
Bristol 24 - 32 Chiefs
No shame in losing to a Chiefs outfit this good

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Newcastle 26 - 24 Sale
Bam - Hepburn, McGuigan, Evans, Stephenson can certainly be targetted in full strength game. Sharples and Miller also a bit edgy until form picks up again.
Bath 21- 20 Racing
Leicester 19 - 21 Toulon
Worcester 26 - 26 Saints
Don't think the locks work together. Ok in wet maybe or on a power orientated game. Tait doesn't play much at 13 these days so struggle to see him there though on paper it's a nice combo. Back three is fine and excellent bench impact.
Chiefs 23 - 22 Hurricanes
Saracens 23 - 22 Gloucester

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Falcons 24-22 Sale
Feel that Hepburn and Evans need a bit more time to get up to full strength in this game. Ewers better at 6 and Miller and Sharples need to have form behind them.
Bath 20-19 Racing
Wasps 22-25 Quins
If Slade his form that's a good eq backline on show there.
Quins-in the pack looks good, Easter may be better for bench this season. Backs look solid, would swap JOC and Nowell around.Fringe players ok, most on the list look like good impact subs.
Tigers 20-23 Toulon
Chiefs 25-26 Canes
Sarries 26-25 Glos
Bristol 22-28 Chiefs

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Falcons 24 - 23 Sale
Bit soon for Stephenson, Evans and Hepburn at the top table, though all will make it and could be experienced enough later this season. Sharples out of form. Miller's form is pretty good, I think! Sale put a very strong side out but home advantage sways it
Bath 23 - 23 Racing
Racing an excellent side, but a good Bath team. Genge needs more AP gametime. Love the 4-8 balance and lineout.
Wasps 20 - 23 Quins
Slightly less experimental Quins team wins it.
For Wasps, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15 could all start if needed, 4, 10, 15 and 12 especially.
For Quins: Easter at lock is ok but would only use as midgame cover, Gorgodze a decent starting lock for me, Clifford an excellent starting 8, JMH ok at 10 but would start him elsewhere when possible, Henshaw is actually best at 13 for me, Nowell passable at 15 but much better at wing, JOC needs form but wing his best position right now
Waller is ok as a back up LH, Baldwin I wouldn't start, Webber needs some form but may get some at Sale, Afoa is ok, Kriel good enough to start, Du Preez needs a bit longer, Olding nees to back up the hype in real life but seems a talent and could make it in the game at 12 with a strong controlling 10 and a powerful 13, Tomane is an ok backup winger choice
Tigers 17 - 20 Toulon
Full strength Toulon very hard to beat
Worcester 24- 25 Saints
Worcester doing very well with an experimental side that works but Saints have too much power in a game with no tactics.
Not sure about Williams at lock, prefer him in backrow. I like the centres, think they work well together with power from Roberts and cleverness from Tait. Back 3 are good, Short solid but Dulin a touch flakey for me but with Naholo there is magic that Short evens out with reliability. The bench looks vulnerable at the set piece but in the loose the impact is great, ideal attacking forwards, Kockott less a flair player though.
Chiefs 27 - 27 Canes
Fluxy has put out a very good side, but a bit green in the backs esp the talented young centres. Canes are quality and push the whole way but Chiefs hold on for a draw at home. Love the work and carrying of the Chiefs pack throughout the whole thing and the potential of the centres.
Saracens 25 - 26 Gloucester
Saracens more reliable at set piece and edge the pack but Gloucester have a top back row and carrying ability and lethal backs in great form and pip it on this

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Falcons 30 - 28 Sale
Could be the year where some of your EQ comes through v strong Bam, Hepburn should build on his Saxons performances, could see him being a good impact player. Rest are fine, but Evans a little too inexperienced at the moment and Stephenson not getting much game time at Saints. Miller had a great season last year so would say he's fine as well.
Bath 23 - 23 Racing
Brilliant midfield for Bath, agree with others comments about Genge needing more time in the AP to judge properly as have quite a few ahead of him at the moment.
Wasps 25 - 25 Quins
Not sure about the lineout options with the Quins pack if Webber is throwing the darts there, and not sure Youngs works with JMH. Lot of the younger players are all absolutely fine to be in match day 23s as got some great players there.
For Chiefs, need to see Slade more at no10 but can't see him moving from the no13 shirt for Chiefs as he's playing so well there. I'd have him at 13 ahead of Burrell.
Tigers 16 - 21 Toulon
Tigers need to get a bit more power in their pack and probably bring in another centre and then they can really push on. Teo'o would be an ideal signing for them.
Exeter Chiefs 32 - 29 Canes
Forwards to Chiefs, but not sure how their no10 will do as just hasn't had game time for Wasps in real life, but expecting big things from him at Sarries this year.
Saracens 30 - 32 Gloucester
Great game. So unlucky to have Haskell ruled out for 6 months for Sarries. Not sure Parra works with Sanchez, might slightly stop his flow, whilst see the Robson and Cips partnership linking up really well. Gloucester top class in backs, Walker only person that could be got at. Would play Foloa at no13 as he has looked good there and personally think he gives more options than current player there.
Bristol 22 - 26 Chiefs
Bristol starting to take some more shape now. Backline looking strong, Tomkins could have a big season at Sarries this year so will help on the EQ front. Personally would get Guy Thompson from Wasps, as he'll get a lot of chances in first 6 months of season.

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Newcastle Falcons 23 - 25 Sale Sharks
McGuigan, Symons, Evans, and maybe a little less so Stephenson and Sharples, would be relatively untested or out of form in the latter cases. Although a good crop of young players coming through there Bam. Miller is a decent option, but your Fullback options surpass his quality quite a bit.
A close game between two good sides, but Bam's young guns will shine, but the quality of the double reigning champs is enough to edge out the Falcons.
Bath Rugby 22 - 25 Racing 92
Bath will cause the Racing team some trouble in defence, however the Racing pack has the edge of experience in this one. Bath with some very good young dynamic players, in the end the French Top 14 champions will see out victory here.
Wasps 27 - 28 Harlequins
Driver - a lot of your lads can and will most likely start throughout the season for you. Some may not start in particular competitions, eg Balmain in the ECC. Most of if not all of your back line will do good jobs at the highest level, although Charnley the obvious exception, being completely untested. I do prefer Burrell at 13, with a creative 12, hence a Slade/Burrell midfield could be quite creative for you.
Steve - Easter does a good job at 4 and will probably be best for you there this season with his legs probably starting to feel it! Gorgodze absolutely fine as well in the row. Clifford is a good eight, but for me will struggle against accomplished 8's JMH fine at ten, likewise Henshaw at 13. I like Nowell at 15, although do feel his best comes from being outwide. Similar with JOC although vice versa.
Afoa getting on and not as strong as he once was, but still handy. Kriel and Olding probably the best of the bunch, but all very good options to have.
Worcester Warriors 26 - 28 Northampton Saints
Prop - Maestri has become your best second row probably, Williams is a good squad player. Toner/Maestri maybe best, although would need some dynamism in the back row. Solid centre partnership, Tait does a job, but against better 13's may struggle. Back three is strong mate, very dangerous in attack, however would be some concern with positioning in defence from Short and Naholo.
A tight game, Warriors will push the Saints, however the quality of the Northampton side will see them secure victory.

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Bath 23-22 Racing
Midfield unit looks strong CJB, Barrett in good nick and good depth on the bench. Genge not up to the level for the league yet and the 2nd row not quite a match for the best in the league.
Wasps 22-24 Quins
For Wasps Moon, Elstadt & Drummond stand out as weaknesses. Slade unproven at 10 but would do a good job in midfield. For Quins wouldn't look to start the two boys at lock outside of the AIs and Clifford not the strongest 8. The other positional tests work fine for me. Big fan of Jaco Kriel and would expect him to be involved more for you next year.
Tigers 20-28 Toulon
Purdy named twice and stands out as a weakness as a starter.
Worcester 25-30 Saints
Worc: 2nd row lacking a bit at the lineout and been a long time since Tait played 13. If NMS is involved through the RC I'd look to get him in fullback. Forward impact decent although Morgan has form issues. No impact at halfback though.
Saints: Mostly regulars involved but Isa had a poor Super 15. Jack Lam a decent player but will need to hit the AP flying after a year at Championship level.
Exeter 28-29 Canes
EQ in the pack looking strong. Lowoski a weakness though at 10. With the pack options I'd look to use James as bench EQ going forward.
Saracens 24-27 Gloucester
Wouldn't look to play North at 13 in the regular season. Devoto needs a good season for me at Chiefs. Looked poor for the Saxons and played 2nd fiddle at Bath for the year.
Bristol 24-27 Chiefs
Haven't seen much of West. Tompkins looked good ball in hand for the Saxons but decision making a way off from being a starter at league level just yet. Pearce has potential but needs to step up for Tigers. Spencer hasn't kicked on as hoped but think the halfback combo works well with Spencer being similar in style to Laidlaw

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 2
Newcastle 25-28 Sale
Sale a little bit too much in each department with more quality and experience.
Bam - Symons, Ewers, Clark and your back 3 ok. Perhaps miss a bit of beef in the engine room, good lineout options though.
Bath 32-26 Racing
Wasps 23-26 Harlequins
Again, a bit more quality on show for Quins and better combo's. I like the Wasps halfbacks and back 3 bar Charney. A decent AI team.
Steve - Issues with the line out with that pairing, I'd play one or the other. Gorgodze better than Easter. No issues with the players out of position past that.
Leicester 20-25 Toulon
Worcester 21-25 Northampton
3, 10 and 7 aside, Saints stronger. Prop, a good lock a away from a very good front 5, need a better partner to Maestri. Back 3 pretty good, no issues.
Exeter 25-26 Hurricanes
Bristol 22-24 Chiefs
