Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
I have a great ability to be quite a way off the mark with these sorts of things...
Premier League
Manchester United - looks like they are going to strengthen and even with a(nother) new Chelsea manager, I don't see them being passed.
Championship
Birmingham - because I think they will retain much of their squad, and the manager will get them right for the push.
League 1
Huddersfield - will have been gutted not to get up in the play-offs and I like Lee Clark as a manager.
League 2
Swindon Town - such a tough league to call year on year, but they have the legendary Paolo Di Canio steering them, so they win my heart!
FA Cup
Chelsea - they are good at the FA Cup...
Carling Cup
Arsenal - I think they will be going for it this year, they need it. They also have the best young players and generally the other big boys would be turned over early.
Scottish Premier
Celtic - just because they were so close this year, and I don't know how good McCoist will be on his own yet.
Scottish Cup
Celtic - see above...
Scottish League Cup
Rangers - I chose Celtic for the league and cup so this seems fairest.
La Liga
Barcelona - it will be very tight and I make this prediction with a feeling that Real Madrid will be much closer than ever before.
Copa Del Rey
Real Madrid - all competitions matter to Mourinho and so I can see him wanting any pot he can get.
Serie A
A.C Milan - I think they will win by default because Inter will need alot of renewal of their squad and Leonardo may not be the man to win titles. Almost went for Juve because they won't have any CL hangover to deal with.
Europa League
Atletico Madrid - Spanish teams are generally good at this tournament, and I think Atletico may be the best of them if they can keep Aguero and Forlan.
Champions League
Real Madrid - I think they will make the right signings and I think that they may get the better of Barca over two legs if it came to it.

Leave it out Nando. We were the best team that didn't go up. Chesham for playoffs maybe.

last season is irrelevant. we've strengthened for this season coming so no reason why we can't challenge for promotion considering we were never outside the top 7 the whole season.

Man City for the title is a bold pick fernando.
I'd be interested to see who they sign this summer, but I reckon they would have to go some to take the title...

they need a couple of wingers and a finisher and possibly a rb and lb but otherwise they have the squad to challenge

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
They're not supposed to be making any big-money signings, but then again if Tevez does leave, they will need to make a huge name to replace him, can't see Balotelli or Dzeko carrying the team like Tevez did.

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
i can still see them paying 15-20m on players they need though
they've got the keeper and a solid back 4 just need some wingers to complement the dm+ silva and someone to replace tevez if goes

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
You got to take into account though that as soon as City go in for a player their price goes up by £10 million, so if they are spending £15 million on a player, it's more than likely that they're worth around 5.

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
Premier League
Manchester United - Far better than anybody else, Chelsea will have to get used to new management while Arsenal won't be good enough.
Championship
Birmingham - See loads of others have gone with Birmingham, quality side just that bit too strong for Championship level, but loads of other teams are in with a shot.
League 1
Preston - Feel these are adapted to the Championship, Phil Brown more than capable of getting them promoted have a big squad and could pip the likes of Sheff Utd, Sheff Wed, Huddersfield and Charlton.
League 2
Bristol Rovers - On paper I have to go for these, will be one of the strongest sides in the division have appointed an up and coming manager in Buckle its there's to lose.
FA Cup
Arsenal - About time they won something will get through the easy way as big teams tumble, will invest in some players and will get some silverware
Carling Cup
Aston Villa - Have been to the final before in recent years, could do better this season if they hold onto there better players an outsider usually does well in this.
Scottish Premier
Rangers - Too strong, Celtic will fight till the end again but Rangers are immense.
Scottish Cup
Celtic - They usually win the latter, will most likely win this again playing Rangers or someone like Motherwell, Hearts or Dundee United in the final.
Scottish League Cup
Aberdeen - Just a guess League Cup's always spring surprises apart from Celtic and Rangers, Aberdeen are good so could possibly truimph.
La Liga
Barcelona - They are just too good for any La Liga side, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia haven't got a chance, it's all about Barcelona the best team in the World.
Copa Del Rey
Barcelona - A double will possibly be on, could lose out on this trophy but I doubt it this time around.
Serie A
Inter Milan - Could be a four to five horse race, but think Inter have better quality, Juve, Ac Milan and the likes of Roma and Palermo and Udinese could spring a surprise but I doubt it.
Europa League
Who is in this?
Champions League
Barcelona - I don't know will go with Barca again unbeatable force.
Manchester United - Far better than anybody else, Chelsea will have to get used to new management while Arsenal won't be good enough.

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
I agree that they may find themselves in a hole if Tevez leaves. At times he has been the only thing between them and dropped points this season, and they would need a proven premiership striker to replace his goals.
I don't think they would win the title with their current squad and I'd expect some big name additions. Probably a couple of midfielders and a forward (Alexis Sanchez?).
They will also have to get used to balancing the league and CL and they may struggle a little more like Spurs did.

I agree with this, but maybe I'm just being optimistic and hoping Liverpool could nick back our Top Four spot while City and Spurs struggle with the European and League workload.

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
I reckon Liverpool have a good chance of getting back in if they strengthen the squad this summer. There is alot to be said of having a rest and being shot of the Europa league will be a blessing I reckon.
Arsenal aren't safe in the top four either and this season it will be really tight between the top 6...all trying to squeeze into four places!

Relegated
18. Wigan
19. Norwich
20. Swansea
Top Five
1. Manchester United
2. Manchester City
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal
I would have had Tottenham at four but I think the Europa League is gonna harm their chances.

Re: Predictions for 2011/12 season.
Just thought I'd bump this thread up so we can see what people had thought and how wrong or right they were. Some people predicting Chelsea to win the league is way off.
One person even predicted them to win the Champions League....
I'm delighted with this prediction by me though which is looking like a real possibility.
The only person to predict Man City to win the league was nando, and he got stick for that prediction as well!
