Toulouse v Wasps Empty Toulouse v Wasps

Post by Heaf Sun 23 Oct 2016, 4:04 pm

Interesting interpretation of on feed by Clancy - not sure how someone with their feet planted 2 feet behind their hips is supporting their own weight - physics would suggest that's not possible.

And before that poor decision there was a Toulouse player getting in the way of the SH at the previous ruck which Clancey just ignored ...

Huge amount of pressure to soak up at such a key time.

Wasps need to sort themselves out in this half as they haven't been in it really and have no fluency at the moment ...

How bizarre was that - Clancey says there was no ruck but a Wasps player had hold of a Toulouse player so it looked like a ruck to me.

And it wasn't a knock-on either as the ball hit the players gut not his hand or arm ...

So a Toulouse player interferes with the pass and stops it getting to Hughes cleanly and instead of a penalty/card for a deliberate knock-on the scrum goes to Toulouse.  Clancey at his best.

In real speed it looked like the Toulouse player touches the ball but on the slow motion it was not really clear. Think that it was very unfortunate for Wasps.

Very - almost as unfortunate as having Clancey as the ref ...

Was it Clancey that made the call though? Thought it was the TMO myself.

Not defending Clancey as I think he is not a very good ref but not sure he was to blame for that decision.

Not that one no - but many others - that was the 2nd time Toulouse did that - first one he missed completely.

He doesn't seem to know about the new maul laws either - several times I've seen Toulouse slide around the ball carrier rather than it being passed back.

The only consistency you get with Clancey is that he is very much on the side of French teams.

It does seem that way but I thought it just might be my wasp tinted glasses.

He did look gutted about blowing up at the end.

20 - 20. What a match.

Fair result for quite a boring game. Managed to fell asleep between the 10th and 50th minute (can also blame the broken coffee machine ).
6th game in a row without victory for Toulouse in Europe. They really became an average team but I bet this 100% attrition game will earn them a top6 position at the end of the season anyway.

Yes I thought Wasps would struggle when I saw he was the ref - the amount of turnover penalties he awarded Toulouse when the players were clearly not supporting their own weight was ridiculous

Noticed that in all the European games, the refs seem to have stopped caring about players arms on the floor of the turnover is complete.
