WWE Smackdown & 205 Live results
Tonight's WWE SmackDown opens up with a look at TLC.
- We're live from Houston, Texas as WWE World Champion AJ Styles makes his way out. Styles is not dressed to wrestle and is wearing a walking boot.
Mauro Ranallo welcomes us. He's joined by JBL, David Otunga and Tom Phillips. AJ says he's not going to waste any time. He shows us stills from the TLC main event on Sunday. Styles mentions being stuck in the boot for a week. He says he's not medically cleared to defend against James Ellsworth tonight. Fans boo. Ellsworth makes his way out next.
Ellsworth says he has AJ's number and wonders if Daniel Bryan is protecting him. Ellsworth says Styles is ducking him and if he wasn't, Ellsworth would become champion tonight. Ellsworth says AJ would have loss the TLC main event if it weren't for him. They go on until the music hits and out comes Dean Ambrose to a pop. Ambrose enters the ring, quickly kicks Ellsworth and hits Dirty Deeds. Ambrose immediately leaves the ring as AJ looks on. His music never stopped playing.
- Still to come, Alexa Bliss celebrates her big win. Also, Rhyno and Heath Slater get their rematch against The Wyatt Family. We cut backstage to The Wyatts. Bray says they're here. We go to commercial.
SmackDown Tag Team Title Match: Rhyno and Heath Slater vs. The Wyatt Family
Back from the break and new SmackDown Tag Team Champions Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt make their way out with Luke Harper. Rhyno and Heath Slater are out next for this TLC rematch.
Orton and Slater start things out. Back and forth until Wyatt and Rhyno come in. Rhyno goes for a Gore but Wyatt rolls to the floor to regroup. We go to commercial.
Back from the break and Wyatt is going at it with Rhyno. Wyatt with a big clothesline and the senton splash for a 2 count. Wyatt with another 2 count. Orton comes in and takes Rhyno down with a dropkick. Orton covers for a 2 count. Rhyno comes out of the corner and drops Orton with a shoulder. Slater gets the hot tag and knocks Wyatt off the apron. Slater unloads on Orton now. Slater with the high knee and a big kick. Slater with a neckbreaker for a 2 count.
Slater stops Wyatt from coming in but Orton powerslams him. Rhyno breaks the pin but gets sent to the floor. Wyatt tags in but Slater decks him. Wyatt floors Slater with a clothesline. Wyatt signals for Sister Abigail but tags Orton in before hitting it. Wyatt kisses Slater on the forehead and whips him into a RKO for the win.
Winners: The Wyatt Family
- After the match, The Wyatt Family poses together as we get replays.
- Dasha Fuentes approaches Kalisto backstage and asks him about requesting a rematch against Baron Corbin. Kalisto says he feels like he's been hit by a car but he still has the speed factor and speed kills.

Carmella vs. Natalya
Back from the break and out comes Carmella. She takes the mic and runs down Natalya, saying she attacked Nikki Bella because Nikki is stealing her spotlight. Carmella goes on knocking Natalya until the music hits and out she comes.
Natalya hits the ring and Carmella attacks before the bell rings. They brawl as the referee watches. They run around the ring and Natalya chases Carmella all the way to the back. The cameras finally cut to the back and we see Natalya hunting for Carmella. She finds Nikki instead. Natalya says Carmella is a liar and Nikki can't believe any of what she's saying. Nikki just stares at her.
- Still to come, Alexa Bliss celebrates her TLC win. Also, Dean Ambrose will be the special guest on MizTV. Back to commercial.
- Back from the break and Baron Corbin is walking backstage. Dasha approaches him for comments on Kalisto. Corbin says Kalisto is just like a mosquito - they're fast and they buzz around until they land on him... splat.
The Ascension vs. The Hype Bros
We go to the ring and Konnor waits with Viktor. Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley are out next.
We get a sidebar video from earlier with The Ascension cutting a promo on the dark, new tag team division. They will rise out of the darkness, they say. We also get a video from Mojo and Rawley, who are ready to waste The Ascension and focus on the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Ryder starts off with Viktor. Viktor nails Mojo and Ryder goes to work on him.
The Ascension turns it around with a double team. Konnor keeps control of Ryder now. Viktor comes back in as they keep Ryder down with frequent tags. Mojo finally gets the hot tag and unloads on The Ascension. Mojo with a 2 count on Viktor as Konnor breaks the pin. Konnor tosses Ryder. Mojo tosses Konnor. Viktor with a roll up for 2. Ryder tags in and they hit the Hype Ryder on Viktor for the pin.

- Back from a commercial and out comes Maryse with WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz for another edition of MizTV.
Miz talks about WWE TLC and his Ladder Match win over Dolph Ziggler. Miz goes on and introduces his guest, Dean Ambrose. Miz wonders how angry Ambrose was when he hit Ellsworth with Dirty Deeds earlier. Miz says Ambrose must be the angriest man on Earth. Ambrose says he's not angry and we've never seen him angry. Ambrose says he was shocked at what Ellsworth did at TLC. Miz says maybe Ambrose deserved what happened, maybe he got off easy. Miz goes on and upsets Ambrose. Ambrose gets in his face. Miz puts Maryse in between them. This leads to Miz presenting Ambrose with the first-ever Miz Participation Award. It's framed and everything.
Fans chant "you deserve it" at Ambrose. Miz agrees. Ambrose threatens to shove the award down Miz's throat. The music interrupts and out comes SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan. Bryan says he can't let Ambrose attack Miz right now but he has one better... tonight's main event will be Ambrose vs. Miz with the title on the line. Miz throws a fit. Bryan gets a "yes!" chant going as his music hits.

Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin
Back from the break and out comes Kalisto as we get stills from the Chairs Match at TLC. Baron Corbin is out next.
Kalisto starts hot but Corbin takes control and works him over. Corbin tosses Kalisto to the floor and stands tall as fans boo. Kalisto makes it back in at the 9 count. Kalisto fights his way back up and dumps Corbin to the floor. Kalisto with a moonsault from the corner. Kalisto goes on and kicks Corbin in the mouth from the apron. Corbin runs back in. More back and forth. Kalisto with a springboard DDT and a spike into the mat for a 2 count.
Kalisto goes to the top now. Kalisto is forced to land on his feet. More back and forth as Corbin catches Kalisto in End of Days for the win.
Winner: Baron Corbin
- After the match, we go to replays as Corbin stands tall.
- Nikki Bella is backstage when singer Sophia Grace approaches her to try and cheer her up. Nikki mentions herself, Brie Bella, Lana, Sasha Banks and Naomi are on one of Sophia's upcoming singles.

Chad Gable vs. Tyler Breeze
Back from the break and out comes American Alph8a as Breezango waits in the ring.
They lock up and end up on the floor early on. Breeze gets tangled in the camera cord. Breeze takes control until Gable dumps him over the top rope. Breeze comes back in and Gable hits an exploder suplex. Gable with more offense until Breeze sends him to the floor. Fandango runs over but Jason Jordan suplexes him. This leads to Gable pinning Breeze in the ring.
Winner: Chad Gable
- Still to come, Ambrose vs. Miz. Also, Alexa Bliss will celebrate. Back to commercial.
- Back from the break and out comes new SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss. She poses in the corner as pyro goes off on the stage. Bliss says she proved at TLC that happy endings do not exist. "We want Becky' chants seem to rattle the champ. Bliss says Becky Lynch called her a word that rhymes with witch last week but now "this little b---h" runs the entire division. The music hits and out comes Becky.
Becky says Bliss is about to find how hard it is to stay at the top. Bliss taunts Becky and the fans, and says this is her era now. Bliss says Becky can call her what she wants but she will call her champion. Becky likes calling her what she called her last week more. Becky says Bliss' reign ends with her rematch and she wants that right now. Bliss looks ready to fight but she backs out of the ring and leaves with her title.
WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz
Back from a break and it's time for the main event. Dean Ambrose makes his way out as we go to commercial.
Back from the commercial and out comes WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz with Maryse.
We get formal ring introductions from Greg Hamilton. The bell rings and they go at it. Back and forth to start. Ambrose takes control with a clothesline and right hands. Ambrose clotheslines Miz to the floor. They end up brawling on the floor and Ambrose launches Miz into the barrier. Ambrose stands tall as we return to commercial.
Back from the break and Miz is in control. Back and forth with pin attempts now. Ambrose goes to the top but rolls through. Ambrose counters a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz blocks Dirty Deeds. Miz with a big dropkick to Ambrose's knee. Miz goes to work on the knee now.
Ambrose fights back but Miz gets him locked in the Figure Four. Ambrose makes it to the bottom rope and breaks the hold. Miz charges but Ambrose dumps him to the floor. Ambrose runs the ropes for a dive and nails it, sending Miz into the barrier. Back in the ring now. Ambrose blocks a Skull Crushing Finale for a 2 count. Miz for a DDT and a 2 count. Miz does the "yes!" kicks and taunts Bryan as Maryse cheers him on. Ambrose catches the last kick and rolls him up for 2. Ambrose nails the Lunatic Lariat. Ambrose goes to the top but Miz cuts him off.
Miz goes for a superplex but Ambrose fights him and sends him to the mat. The referee slips down but isn't out. Maryse takes advantage and crotches Ambrose on the top rope but Miz only gets a 2 count after a knee. James Ellsworth makes his way down now. Ellsworth yells to the referee about Maryse. Ambrose rolls Miz up for the referee doesn't see it. Miz kicks out. Ambrose stares at Ellsworth and isn't happy. Miz takes advantage and rolls Ambrose up for the win.
Winner: The Miz
- After the match, Ellsworth runs away to the back. Maryse brings the title to Miz as we go to replays. SmackDown goes off with Maryse and Miz celebrating as Ambrose looks on from the ring.

We open up with a video package of Swann's big win last week and furthering his back story. Three man booth once again with Ranallo, Graves, and Aries. Aries makes fun of the "rumors" of Ranallo's contract status. We head straight into the ring for singles action.
Noam Dar vs. Cedric Alexander
Before the match, we get a look backstage at Alicia Fox with Alexander. She say's she'll be watching every move and plants a smooch on the star from North Carolina. Clean handshake gets us started as it appears they're shifting fans to camera-side once again this week. Side head lock form Dar, but his stutter steps when running ropes already scare me. He reapplies the head lock and moves into an arm submission. First match should be high paced in my opinion, but we're deflating the building so far. Alexander able to create some space. Cedric heads to the air but Dar ducks and Alexander makes a halt. Dar slows the pace once again with more submissions and ground and pound. Alexander busts out of the corner now with some chops, but gets kicked back down. Chemistry between these two not exemplary. Finally we have a "let's go Cedric" chant and it fires him up enough to land a flurry of strikes. Running cross body from Alexander into the corner followed by a kick and flying cross body. Cover for a two. Alexander shaking out the left arm after it being worked over the majority of the match. Dar counters Alexander's signature springboard rope run with a kick to the left arm. Dar applies another arm bar and Alexander fails to makes the ropes. Cedric counters into a pin, but unable to get the win. Alexander misses on a split leg moonsault but Dar sends him into the ring post. Running kick from Dar gets the win.
Winner via Pinfall: Noam Dar
- After the match, Dar makes light of Swann's interview last week and boasts his new contract. He dedicates the match to Alicia Fox, much to the crowd's chagrin.
- Video package highlighting Mustafa Ali. Thought he performed really well in the CWC. He confidently touts his all-around in-ring ability.
- Backstage with Rich Swann and TJ Perkins. A little friendly competition banter between the two. TJP says Swann has been getting lucky quite a bit lately. Perkins says Swann is good enough to beat Kendrick, but not, well, you know the rest.
Ariya Daivari vs. Jack Gallagher
In another rematch from last week and again on Monday Night RAW, The Extraordinary Gentleman and Persian Lion go at it once again. Jacky Boy selling his knee injury with the tape and Daivari goes right after it. It's no match for Gallagher's unique reversals. Gallagher unable to get the full surfboard in, so he just stomps on the legs of Daivari. Handstand on the ropes from Jack and uses the boot as a block and a mind game. Daivari goes for it anyway and met with a boot from Gallagher. Daivari grabs a rope to get a break and a clean break wasn't going to happen as Daivari is back on the prowl. Gallagher showing he can land some shots in addition to his technical ability, but unable to get the best of Daivari. Another submission heavy match. Unique pinfall attempts from Gallagher but Daivari continuously kicks out. Big head but from the Englishman and covers for a near fall. A la Aries, roaring elbow from Daivari then attacks the knee once again. Frog Splash from Daivari, covers, and gets the three.

- Video package for the "Golden Lynx," Lince Dorado. Actually a decent promo and bilingual, so not sure why they didn't give him a chance to get himself over there.
- TJ Perkins out in street clothes to join the crew at ringside.
- Tom Phillips catches up with The Brian Kendrick before the main event. Kendrick says he was facing a lot of stress and pressure going into last week. Says this week he is focused and the result will be different. Kendrick puts Swann over as a great wrestler and human being, but says when he wins tonight, he's dedicating his win to himself.
Rich Swann (C) vs. The Brian Kendrick (Cruiserweight Championship Match)
Good reaction for the champ. Perkins and Aries with a mini-feud on commentary as the match gets started. They are feeling each other out with counter after counter. Showing their scouting, they each miss signature moves to gain the upper hand. Kendrick takes a short breather but is able to goad Swann to the outside. Kendrick hits Sliced Bread off the barricade on the outside. Hooks both legs once back in the ring but only a two. Kendrick wrenches on the neck with cross faces and forearms. German suplex from Kendrick into the Captain's Hook but Swann makes the ropes. Swann goes for a kick but misses most of it. Kendrick crashes to the outside nonetheless. Swann hits a modified Phoenix Splash from the turnbuckle to the outside. Back in the ring now, Swann hits a Tiger Bomb, goes for a cover and Kendrick out at two. Swann hits a big right and nails a driver of sorts that even Mauro Ranallo couldn't call. Swann swings and misses on a kick but lands the second. They trade huge kicks and both men are down. Crowd finally showing their appreciation.
Both men standing in the middle of the ring trading rights. Kendrick goes for the Captain's Hook once again, but Swann able to block. Swann reverses out but Kendrick transitions into it again. Swann gets to within a finger's length of the rope and Kendrick slides him back to the center. Swann tries to reverse to a cover, but Kendrick rolls back over into the submission. After a long battle, Swann makes the ropes. Kendrick utilizing the referee's break-up count to heelish perfection. Both men on the apron. Kendrick lands a boot to the face of Swann. Swann blocks Sliced Bread and sends the challenger into the ring post. Swann gets near decapitated, but Kendrick realizes he has to get Swann back in the ring to get the title back. Kendrick gets sent into TJP and they have a standoff. Gives Swann enough time to setup the "Swann Song" kick to retain his Cruiserweight Title.
Winner via Pinfall and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: Rich Swann
- After the match, Kendrick flies over the announce table to attack Perkins. Swann hurries back down to help out his friend, but is short lived after Perkins misses Kendrick with a super kick and hits Swann instead. Kendrick gloats and the others recovers as we head off the air.

Miz does the "yes!" kicks and taunts Bryan as Maryse cheers him on. Ambrose catches the last kick and rolls him up for 2. Ambrose nails the Lunatic Lariat. Ambrose goes to the top but Miz cuts him off.
Miz goes for a superplex but Ambrose fights him and sends him to the mat. The referee slips down but isn't out. Maryse takes advantage and crotches Ambrose on the top rope but Miz only gets a 2 count after a knee. James Ellsworth makes his way down now. Ellsworth yells to the referee about Maryse. Ambrose rolls Miz up for the referee doesn't see it. Miz kicks out. Ambrose stares at Ellsworth and isn't happy. Miz takes advantage and rolls Ambrose up for the win.
Winner: The Miz
- After the match, Ellsworth runs away to the back. Maryse brings the title to Miz as we go to replays. SmackDown goes off with Maryse and Miz celebrating as Ambrose looks on from the ring.

We open up with a video package of Swann's big win last week and furthering his back story. Three man booth once again with Ranallo, Graves, and Aries. Aries makes fun of the "rumors" of Ranallo's contract status. We head straight into the ring for singles action.
Noam Dar vs. Cedric Alexander
Before the match, we get a look backstage at Alicia Fox with Alexander. She say's she'll be watching every move and plants a smooch on the star from North Carolina. Clean handshake gets us started as it appears they're shifting fans to camera-side once again this week. Side head lock form Dar, but his stutter steps when running ropes already scare me. He reapplies the head lock and moves into an arm submission. First match should be high paced in my opinion, but we're deflating the building so far. Alexander able to create some space. Cedric heads to the air but Dar ducks and Alexander makes a halt. Dar slows the pace once again with more submissions and ground and pound. Alexander busts out of the corner now with some chops, but gets kicked back down. Chemistry between these two not exemplary. Finally we have a "let's go Cedric" chant and it fires him up enough to land a flurry of strikes. Running cross body from Alexander into the corner followed by a kick and flying cross body. Cover for a two. Alexander shaking out the left arm after it being worked over the majority of the match. Dar counters Alexander's signature springboard rope run with a kick to the left arm. Dar applies another arm bar and Alexander fails to makes the ropes. Cedric counters into a pin, but unable to get the win. Alexander misses on a split leg moonsault but Dar sends him into the ring post. Running kick from Dar gets the win.
Winner via Pinfall: Noam Dar
- After the match, Dar makes light of Swann's interview last week and boasts his new contract. He dedicates the match to Alicia Fox, much to the crowd's chagrin.
- Video package highlighting Mustafa Ali. Thought he performed really well in the CWC. He confidently touts his all-around in-ring ability.
- Backstage with Rich Swann and TJ Perkins. A little friendly competition banter between the two. TJP says Swann has been getting lucky quite a bit lately. Perkins says Swann is good enough to beat Kendrick, but not, well, you know the rest.
Ariya Daivari vs. Jack Gallagher
In another rematch from last week and again on Monday Night RAW, The Extraordinary Gentleman and Persian Lion go at it once again. Jacky Boy selling his knee injury with the tape and Daivari goes right after it. It's no match for Gallagher's unique reversals. Gallagher unable to get the full surfboard in, so he just stomps on the legs of Daivari. Handstand on the ropes from Jack and uses the boot as a block and a mind game. Daivari goes for it anyway and met with a boot from Gallagher. Daivari grabs a rope to get a break and a clean break wasn't going to happen as Daivari is back on the prowl. Gallagher showing he can land some shots in addition to his technical ability, but unable to get the best of Daivari. Another submission heavy match. Unique pinfall attempts from Gallagher but Daivari continuously kicks out. Big head but from the Englishman and covers for a near fall. A la Aries, roaring elbow from Daivari then attacks the knee once again. Frog Splash from Daivari, covers, and gets the three.

- Video package for the "Golden Lynx," Lince Dorado. Actually a decent promo and bilingual, so not sure why they didn't give him a chance to get himself over there.
- TJ Perkins out in street clothes to join the crew at ringside.
- Tom Phillips catches up with The Brian Kendrick before the main event. Kendrick says he was facing a lot of stress and pressure going into last week. Says this week he is focused and the result will be different. Kendrick puts Swann over as a great wrestler and human being, but says when he wins tonight, he's dedicating his win to himself.
Rich Swann (C) vs. The Brian Kendrick (Cruiserweight Championship Match)
Good reaction for the champ. Perkins and Aries with a mini-feud on commentary as the match gets started. They are feeling each other out with counter after counter. Showing their scouting, they each miss signature moves to gain the upper hand. Kendrick takes a short breather but is able to goad Swann to the outside. Kendrick hits Sliced Bread off the barricade on the outside. Hooks both legs once back in the ring but only a two. Kendrick wrenches on the neck with cross faces and forearms. German suplex from Kendrick into the Captain's Hook but Swann makes the ropes. Swann goes for a kick but misses most of it. Kendrick crashes to the outside nonetheless. Swann hits a modified Phoenix Splash from the turnbuckle to the outside. Back in the ring now, Swann hits a Tiger Bomb, goes for a cover and Kendrick out at two. Swann hits a big right and nails a driver of sorts that even Mauro Ranallo couldn't call. Swann swings and misses on a kick but lands the second. They trade huge kicks and both men are down. Crowd finally showing their appreciation.
Both men standing in the middle of the ring trading rights. Kendrick goes for the Captain's Hook once again, but Swann able to block. Swann reverses out but Kendrick transitions into it again. Swann gets to within a finger's length of the rope and Kendrick slides him back to the center. Swann tries to reverse to a cover, but Kendrick rolls back over into the submission. After a long battle, Swann makes the ropes. Kendrick utilizing the referee's break-up count to heelish perfection. Both men on the apron. Kendrick lands a boot to the face of Swann. Swann blocks Sliced Bread and sends the challenger into the ring post. Swann gets near decapitated, but Kendrick realizes he has to get Swann back in the ring to get the title back. Kendrick gets sent into TJP and they have a standoff. Gives Swann enough time to setup the "Swann Song" kick to retain his Cruiserweight Title.
Winner via Pinfall and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: Rich Swann
- After the match, Kendrick flies over the announce table to attack Perkins. Swann hurries back down to help out his friend, but is short lived after Perkins misses Kendrick with a super kick and hits Swann instead. Kendrick gloats and the others recovers as we head off the air.

Why not just give AJ the night off (kayfabe: to recover) rather than have him show up and be superfluous?
