James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
What with the undercard and fight only hours away...I thought it was time to get this up and running. Call me premature...it wouldn't be the first time
I got full confidence in DeGale to take this. I gone for late TKO. My mate who often seeks council in me for my boxing knowledge and wisdom has predicted Chunky to take a victory in the early rounds
As it goes we don't trust no score cards anymore...and that could work against both fighters. Word on the street is that the later the fight goes...the more chance there is of Chunky doing jack against Jack...which clearly works in Badou's favour
On the biggest night of his entire life (the time he picked up that blond in a Harlesden pub not included) DeGale needs to in top condition...which he does look. If you're a Jack fan then your boy looks pretty powerful and will be aiming to get the big shots in
Either way...here's to a great fight and may the best man win
Stay tuned for further discussion on this night of boxing

Khytrov fight was really odd. He looked great on the front foot, solid, hard punching pressure fighter. But his defense was awful and his chin want great.
Great win for Ameel but Khytrov always looked the 'classier' prospect.

Why is DeGale going in for the inside when he is getting broken up?
He needs to fight on the outside for the rest of the fight if he is to win

I've got Jack 1 up with that last round an even one. The same old performance from DeGale...in a way it's a credit he hasn't come unstuck in his previous two fights..
Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
He may look the part and in better shape than normal but his laziness was nothing to do with conditioning..its mental plain and simple...there would be an argument that's a 10-8 round right there!

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
Jack by 3 Rounds for me...if DeGale gets out with the win he may be luckiest champion around at the moment..three very average (though exciting) performances in a row making same mistakes every single time!
Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
Sounds wide...but I had 7 even, I imagine a few scored it more towards DeGale..I had Jack take the 11th... DeGale busier but the heavier and cleaner shots were from Badou..then the 10-8 final round cancelled out James 10-8 first round

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
I can't believe Badou didn't win on a single card...wow! It was exciting and draw means we get it again...but for me Jack landed the much better shots throughout. DeGale spent rounds 3-8 getting hit clean with most things while essentially throwing slapping punches which hit nothing but gloves around 75% of the time. He had a great round 9 and 10 then switched off again. Anyhow....great card to kick of 2017.a rematch on the cards here ..with Frampton/Cruz to come and then Garcia/Thurman in March it's looking like boxing could well have its best year in a very long time.
Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
Such an up and down fight....Early lead for James...Then Jack fought back and at one point went ahead on my card....Then Degale pulled it back to level...Then seemed to go up a notch....Then knocked back down.
Man what a fight. The whole card was brilliant enjoyed every fight.
Thanks mayweather promotions. P4P fighter and looks to be a top top promoter.
Roll on LSC vs The Jackal!

Some highlights of the fight. Jack by 3 rounds for me. Degales stamina againshowed and the fact he has to have a lot of breaks in rounds. Think defame will be secretly glad Jack is moving up

I scored it 114-114. Thought DeGale was the better boxer but Jack was insanely big and strong. Great effort from Chunky. Look forward to seeing him pop that Smith bubble next.

Good fight. Thought jack won. Looked like degale was hitting a lot of gloves with the showy combo's. remarkably similar to the Dirrell fight in terms of the ebb and flow. He did well to recover from the 8th and come back strong.
He's such a nob though.

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
I thought jack won
He blocked a lot of what degale did his defence even coming forward was excellent
Even after he got the knockdown back in the 12th not one judge gave it to him??
Jack is one of those fighters who seems to rise to the occasion he is going to be very difficult to beat
Great great fight and would love a rematch
Davies looks some talent he looked a bit like pretty boy Floyd he smashed pedraza
One of the best cards I've seen in ages every single fight was great either with back and forth or just pure entertainment

Jack got robbed!! Plain & simple.
Degale won 3 rounds at best. Boxing needs to fix up, losing fans fast.
After the Yuri Foreman dive, the sport did not need another joke decision.

Had it for Jack by 3 rounds, great fight though and full respect to both men. I did think the ref gave Degale a lot if time after the knockdown and those extra seconds probably saved him from being knocked out.

Told you all DeGale was going to get favourable judging I watched it on computer and my picture cut out half way so I could be wrong but with the knockdown at the end I got Jack winning that

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
I thought Jack edged it. Quality card. Seems like every fight Jack is in is some kind of split or majority decision. He has a knack for making fights close regardless of his opponent.
Perhaps it puts his fight with Groves in perspective. It was seen at the time as Groves having blown it but Jack has a way of making fights close. I thought if Degale ws switched on he would take this on points but after the final bell my feeling was that Jack deserved the nod and obvioulsy finished the fight stronger.
Some good options now for 168lbs if Groves/Degle/Smith can make fights happen. If Jack deceides to move up a weight class we could have a unified British champion at 168lbs.

Can't see jack doing much at 175 lot of real killers up there
But then again I have consistently under estimated him and he proves me wrong time and time again

Can't see Jack troubling the elite at 75 either he's better off boiling down to 68 surely

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
I thought a draw was a fair result.
Degale still conspires to undermine his own good work by stepping off the gas and, even worse, retiring to the ropes so his opponent can work his body and potentially find the big one.
Jack's team spoilt a good night with their comments. Floyd rightly got boo'd. But by the way they acted they obviously don't believe jack can make SMW anymore.

The talk was, if jack does vacate it could be Smith v Dirrell for the title.
Potential, 3 Brit fighters holding belts. Could make for a great couple of years in the UK boxing scene.

Thought a draw was fair too. Degale when busy looked better but Jack was the cleaner better puncher. Not sure why people kept saying Degale was the better boxer? He was faster but he just puts his head down and starts swinging. Jack was much crisper in my opinion.
Degale fortunate the ref gave him the extra time after the knockdown and Jacks finishing was poor, stood way too close and easy for Degale to hold on. But 12th round I guess so prob tired.

Not seen the fight but Eubank Jnr has fought one worthwhile opponent and made to look clumsy for the most part and Saunders is not in Degales league.

Eubank is all talk, he's done nothing to suggest he can back it up
Deserved to lose against Saunders who hasn't himself accomished less than Degale
Eubank needs a beating and soon, would love GGG to smack him around just to shut his dad up

Eubank hasn't been in with a puncher yet, I think people assume he has a great chin because of his surname nor is he a big puncher himself. The skill difference between the two is huge.

No rematch according to Mayweather. Jack to move to 175lb division. Mayweather also accused other promotions of paying off judges and is considering no longer holding promotions on the East Coast.

In all seriousness I rewatched it and I has jack clearly so he has every right to be angry

Re: James DeGale v Badou Jack - Official Fight Thread
Floyd's rants were as tasteless as usual and he's a fool.
He just promoted a good card and brought a downer on a good night.
It was tight and a draw was not the most outlandish decision. So, for Floyd to rant like that was sad.
As a promoter, he should have been chuffed to bits that a lucrative rematch was on the cards and the night was a success.
It looks like he's upset because there won't be a rematch because jack can't make 168 anymore.
But then, if Floyd bet €500k on jack to win, as he said, then maybe that explains his upset.
