i woulld go of cusion and leave white ball stuck on redsyou will then never leave apot on for player

The risk in that is that players would continually push into the reds. After a while they would call for a re-rack and the game would never flow.

A break off can leave a pot but can also leave the ball in a difficult position thus generating a difficult safety.

Steve Davis tried that against ROS in a match once. It led to rather boring frames and he still got beat. It's not a good idea Smile

Good idea if you need a good 10 minutes to settle into a match though. Perhaps from arriving in a hurry or to calm the nerves for some reason.

Not the dumbest idea I've heard...

What I would do is try to hit the reds as thin as possible leaving the pack still together and a possible snooker on but hey real life isn't the same as computer games.

I am the opposite. I hit the 3rd red down on the right hand side, with a small amount of side to miss the corner pocket. Runs past the blue and usually finishes between the green and the left baulk cushion. Spreads them out nicely. May give your opponent chance of a long pot, but it stops the game getting bogged down.
