Wilder v Washington
Having just watched the Wilder v Washington bout I don't think Joshua has anything to worry about if or when they meet.Washington won every round until Wilder decided he had a left jab as well as wild swinging punches that missed more often than they landed.I would even go as far to say that Parker would have an even chance of beating Wilder.

Re: Wilder v Washington
Breazeale will be next and even that lump of lard will have a 50-50 chance with Wilder. Very poor fighter who gets out of jail each time due to his power.
Washington looked like a 5 fight novice.

Re: Wilder v Washington
This fight was so strange. Wilder looked scared or lost. Didnt throw ANY punch apart from the 5th when he dropped Washington.
Washington won EVERY round on my card and was looking comfortable!!
Wilder is a beast puncher but is there to be outboxed it seems.
His "bombs" at the end just looked plain stupid, he was swinging punches all over the place and falling over. When he sees red, he looks like a human windmill.
Id be very confident of AJ winning this.

Re: Wilder v Washington
Said it all along, Wilder is a hype job, horrible technique, protected by the WBC. He's ranked lower than 30 in the P4P rankings for a reason.
Some are saying it was a classic PBC stoppage (ala Jacobs v Quillen), gotta take a closer look at the finish tbf.
Joshua v Wilder, doesn't go past the 8th. If you're in the crowd that night, you may just catch Wilder's head, after Joshua dispatches it with an uppercut.

Wilder looked absolutely awful and if you didn't know he was champion, you'd think he was someone brought in to make the champ look good.
Apparently he had a scrap with Bruezela (what his name is) and some geezer afterwards

Jeez, Wilder is rated 55th on the P4P rankings on Box Rec! Even Bellew ranks higher!

The only thing he has going for him is the fact he is American.

Now Fury has retired he is the champion with the most valid claim.
However Holmes..Tubbs..Witherspoon all play with him.

Re: Wilder v Washington
How is he the champion with the most valid claim?
Fury dethroned the unquestionable Kingpin and nobody has topped that or taken Fury out.
Wilder got his title beating a 'champ' in his first defence who had only won the belt in an elimantor not by beating the holder (VK).
AJ won his belt off a 'champ' in his first defence who had only won the belt in an elimantor not by beating the holder (WK/Fury).
If you count WBO as a belt, Parker won in an eliminator not defeating the champ/holder which is the same way the guy Wilder got his belt off won it.

Because he's the longest serving champion...
I suppose Joshua and Parker are more deserving ??

The most deserving is the winner of AJ/Wlad.

I've not argued against that...
At the moment Wilder has the best case.

Didn't say they were.
But that's a spectacularly weak rationale.

I haven't given you my rationale but you can have it..
Stiverne and more longevity than anyone else..
Moving on..

Wilder is so cumbersome and wide open when he throws...........Breazale was awful.
Fairplay to him for coming through but the other guy should be suicidal after losing that..

Re: Wilder v Washington
And after the staged scuffle at the end of the night, we're going to have the joy of:
Wilder V Stiverne II, the fight even their trainers don't care about
And Wilder V Breazale....
It truly is appalling.

Re: Wilder v Washington
Wilder's not even top three at the weight is he?
There is no champion here. AJ/Wlad is a fight between one of the top contenders and an unranked former champ.
You'd need to factor in Ortiz, Wilder, Parker and probably Povetkin if looking to crown a de facto top man.
Quite how that happens, I don't know. Wilder will be tied up with Stiverne and Breazeale for the forseeable and I highly doubt the likes of AJ will be keen to sign up to VADA (it would be nice to be proven wrong there).
Parker/Hughie Fury/AJ might be able to consolidate a couple of belts (Fury may be banned by UKAD yet) but for how long?

There's only one champion. This lot are titlists - paper champs.
Why no Chagaev? He's as much of a "champ" as that lot?

Re: Wilder v Washington
I remember Holmes vacating the WBC belt when he saw the names Page, Witherspoon and Thomas at 1,2 and 3......Taking the IBF strap where he could hand pick David Bey types and being lauded as THE Champion because of lineal chain...
No thanks...........ABC champions are crap but I'll take them...Though less Champions would be nice......
Let's just agree to disagree...........

Who cares about Holmes? That was nearly 40 years ago.
Right now, belts are more diluted than ever.
Someone is going to have to bash a few of the others to earn universal acclaim.
Wilder is no more a champ than Chagaev, or the million other paper champs.

I don't think anybody cares about lineal any more, all the lineages have been broken so the man is now just opinion.

It is in divisions where the best won't fight one another. There is no top dog in that scenario.
Lineal champs are more or less redundant as there's no will within the sport to recognise such a thing. Ring belts get some traction but they're compromised with GBP and the flawed rankings system.
Saying that, Crawford, Rigondeuax have established themselves as the undeniable best at 140 and 122.
