The Premier League 2017/18 Bold Predictions Thread
Thought I'd pop this up now as we're just a couple of weeks from kick off. Same as usual, 10 predictions. Be as silly or sensible as you want!
Mine:
1) Antonio Conte will be sacked by Christmas. Chelsea will be sluggish out of the gate and Roman will get his gun out.
2) Wayne Rooney will have a blinding season. Reborn and reinvigorated. He'll bag 20+ in all competitions.
3) Spurs will comfortably bag a top 4 spot again. The consensus is that they'll struggle at Wembley but I'm not buying it. The most settled squad in the league will be alright, Jack.
4) Man City won't contest the title. The super coach aint having it all his own way over here and he'll flunk again.
5) Alexandre Lacazette will be the league's top scorer. They'll be served on a plate for him and he'll eat them up. 25+ league goals.
6) Craig Shakespeare will be the first manager sacked. And nobody will shed a tear.
7) Liverpool will be a long way off a CL place. I can see a good cup run or two but consistency in high league finishes has always been an issue and this pessimist expects no different this season.
8) Brighton will comfortably stay up. They'll be that promoted side that surprises a few people, even Nick!
9) Huddersfield will finish rock bottom with a worse total than Sunderland. Hardly a bold claim I know.
10) Man Utd will win the title. Jose seems happy and they'll turn those draws into wins. There's no outstanding team in the thing and Lukaku will make the difference.
I wonder if I'll get one right..

1) Liverpool will reach the late knockout stages of the Champions League but finish outside top 4 in the Premier League.
2) Wayne Rooney will leave Everton by the end of the year, either to retire or to go abroad.
3) Southampton will be in a relegation battle.
4) Alvaro Morata will score less than 10 league goals.
5) Tottenham will have a better away record than their home record.
6) John Terry will quit football mid-season and become a coach/ambassador at Chelsea.
7) Zlatan will return in January to the Manchester United squad but only start three times.
8) Newcastle will finish 20th, Rafa Benitez will quit in September after no wins.
9) Some desperate side will hire Alan Pardew.

1. Arsenal to do what Liverpool did with Suarez - play blinding football, get cocky then spectacularly blow it after singing about winning the league
2. Wayne Rooney will shout at his teammates a lot, contribute very little and agree to sign for a MLS side
3. Huddersfield and Brighton to stay up, Newcastle doomed
4. City to tear the bottom half a new one in the first half of the season and everyone thinks they've reinvented football, flop against the other challengers and Pep walks at the end of the season
5. Utd either win the league or finish 6th after a Jose implosion
6. Chelsea probably win the league
7. Liverpool realise combining Europe with the league is a lot different to turning up once a week and playing pretty football
8. Stoke get relegated
9. Kane and Alli have storming seasons, but Spurs bottle it again and they both want to leave next summer

That'd be a steep fall of form after they win the title again in October

It'll be just like the "no tugging" rule, where it was heavily penalised in the first couple of weeks and then referees started to forget about it.

Re: The Premier League 2017/18 Bold Predictions Thread
2) Wayne Rooney will leave Everton by the end of the year, either to retire or to go abroad.
Couple more controversies and I could be right.
3) Southampton will be in a relegation battle.
Potentially, they have had a semi-decent start, but they are struggling for goals so maybe.
4) Alvaro Morata will score less than 10 league goals.
Has to score less than 7 goals in the next 30+ games.
5) Tottenham will have a better away record than their home record.
So far they have won all their away games (2) and lost/drawn their home games.
7) Zlatan will return in January to the Manchester United squad but only start three times.
Already back, time will tell how many games he plays.
8) Newcastle will finish 20th, Rafa Benitez will quit in September after no wins.
10th after 4 games and already have two wins.
9) Some desperate side will hire Alan Pardew.
Roy Hodgson turns down Palace and they get tempted to return to FA Cup Final joys?
10) Kyle Walker will be second choice right back at Manchester City after Danilo cements first choice spot. Guardiola will play Walker as a centre back at least once.
It's been the other way around so far, with Danilo playing at centre back.
