TRP paper saying Saints are keeping their eye on Veainu.
I would cry if he ended up leaving unless the rumours of mckenzie coming next year are true

I'd be surprised if he left. Saints have committed to spending a significant amount in Biggar next season and still need a big ball carrying 8. We should be able to match whatever they offer plus we have a couple of TVs countrymen at the club. We should be tying him down to a long term deal, he's magic and the chance if DMac coming is lessening with him playing out of his skin for the ABs.

And McGuigan. Basically we're being linked with Polatau-Nau and so the media are assuming that one of our hookers is off and Bristol throw money at everyone and everything.

Anyone have an idea what it is that Yarde has supposedly done?
I wonder if it has anything to do with rumours on his departure!

Dragons could do with some backrow cover. We are down to three senior backrow players.

Silly so and so - EPS being so full of injury at the moment there was a chance he could get back in the reckoning. I would imagine EJ would take a dim view of things.

Simon Zebo confirmed as leaving Munster at the end of the season. Destination unknown buy presumed France (per BBC article).

When you look at the Sale squad what you think is "they could really do with another winger".

Ugo Monye has just said that the deal is done and it involves Yarde moving to Sale now rather than at the end of the season.

have they got him confused with a giant scrummaging monster prop? They've got four good wingers on the books. Not sure they have one top level prop.

Charnley rumoured off to league again.
Odogwu out long term and McGuigan rumoured off to Scotland potentially next season.

Yarde won't be cheap though. McGuigan is a great example of how you can find a winger that is economically friendly but suits how your team plays and is therefore extremely effective. They might well need to recruit in the back three but is that the place they need to allocate a good chunk of the cap when the tight five has looked underpowered at times.
Not sure a move further north would be a great option for McGuigan either, he's in the form of his life. Better to stay at the club that has facilitated that than gamble on a move away.

"We're not allowed to speak to players before January 1, that's a principle we stick to," said Diamond.
"Maybe you should ring those players up yourselves and speak to them? There's no done deal.
"The priorities are a lock and a centre and we're not having any joy at the minute with the quality that we're looking for."
According to Mr Diamond.

Shame Yarde has gone as I think he's been improved this season....but at last *finally* our best winger should be starting every day.
Knowing Kingston though he'll draft in some journeyman and bench Walker again so he leaves.

Too many sides chase big name backs instead of focus on strengthening their packs IMO.

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
Zac Guilford wasn't offered a Super Rugby contract in NZ, so he thinks the door is shut. He had his troubles in the past but might have turned a corner. At 28, and in good form for his NPC club, he might be worth a risk for a club in the North looking for an attacking full back.

Quins confirm Yarde to Sale with immediate effect, 3 year deal too.
He was too disruptive for the club, missed training twice and a pre season camp and his attitude was by all accounts terrible. So that frees up 250k anyhows.

Latest i have heard is that he might be off to Quins to replace Yarde next season.
Could see it happening him and Morris are good friends too which should help back 3 chemistry.

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
prop david in london not sure at the moment but if you did sign Earle he'd be an upgrade on Yarde IMO.
Earle might prefer the Quins style of play but it's a risk.
Where else could Yarde go though? Not sure many sides are on the lookout for wingers anyway.

Why are Sale? Back 3 are the only positions they are good in.

I thought that too - But heard that Josh Charnley might be going back to league. McGuigan is called up to Scotland and Solomona called up with England. Odogwu is injured too - so maybe there is more need that thought!Scottrf wrote:beshocked wrote:Where else could Yarde go though? Not sure many sides are on the lookout for wingers anyway.

3yr contract isn't a small commitment though.
Sale managed to reform Cipriani, maybe the firm hand of Diamond will keep Marland in line.

Well Eddie Jones and J.K have both now found issue with his off field attitude. I hope Diamond can sort him out because he’s a nice bloke and a quality player. Just really Frak lazy it seems.
I’d be happy for us to get Earle, he’d be a hell of a lot cheaper the Yarde and had looked good when I’ve seen him.

Doubt he would be a hell of a lot cheaper TBH the wages have gone up a hell of a lot in the last 2/3 years esp of young EQP players

You think? Apparently Yarde was on 250k over three seasons, I was kind of thinking 120k max for someone like him. Basically anything from 30-40,000 a season.

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
I am sure someone told me it was less than he was offered to stay at LonIrish! But was still a bit of a coup at the time for Quins.
Personally I don't feel as if they got value for money - but at the time of signing he was pushing for regular starting spots for England and had a bright future. Still does as he isn't exactly old, but needs to get that mentality sorted.
Replacement or injury replacement would be nice though - Ross Chisholm has played for A-league recently so can cover wing. Starters will be Visser and Charlie Walker with AlofaAlofa covering.
Gabriel Ibitoye and Jonas Mickalcus (serious injury in JP Morgan 7's) are our 2 academy products that might get more gametime if they are fit.

No way would Earle be 120K.
200K (per season) minimum depending on his agent he's already England capped U25 and has Premiership and Champions cup experience.
Yarde was 250K 3 seasons ago the prices of players have gone up alot since then.
This is all just IMO judging what i have seen in the market.

No way would a decent prospect go for short of £50k. That's insane.
EDIT: just googled and Yarde signed on £200k a year.

Zac Guildford is available. If Quins need anyone in the short term.
You'd imagine Earle's availability will depend on whether or not he thinks he'll get regular rugby at Sarries or not. Wyles is now 34, Goode and Maitland are 29 so Sarries may be keen to keep hold of him to help the average age of their back three options.
