Re: Mock Hennessy a desperate man....
Hennessy does have it rough in some respects. He's trying to compete with rivals who have far higher brand recognition, more access to the major networks and generally better stables of fighters. Hennessy's recent record of wanting to match his fighters with opponents of a similar level and presenting genuine 50:50 contests (even if they aren't the most lucrative or of the highest quality) is arguably better than Warren and Hearn's in more recent times.
That said, I have to wonder how much his struggles are down to some incompetence on his part, rather than just being a Harry Hardluck story. To this day I can't fathom how he failed to get Froch's first world title defence on a semi-major channel as a live broadcast, and while he delivered, in theory at least, a world title for Fury, he was also complicit in completely ballsing up the preparations for the Klitschko rematch.
For whatever reason, his face just doesn't seem to fit (no weight-related pun intended) in the right circles at the right time. For what it's worth, I think going with YouTube for this fight would have been the right decision had it not been so badly priced. £15? I'm looking forward to Hughie against Parker, but the undercard is a non-starter and it's hard to justify such a price.
Still, he's hung in so far, and who knows - by the end of the week he might be able to boast that he's taken two fighters to a world Heavyweight title in the space of two years. Not bad going when all's said and done.
