How come Kinghorn being held up wasn't a Blues scrum? Ref said because it was from a kick - is that really a rule?

I’ve rated Navidi for years and people were telling me he was just an okay club player. I’m glad he’s getting more recognition nowadays. I do think he’s a little like SOB in his style of play and you don’t get a better type of flanker than that.

Fowles needs to be subbed off by half time.
This is like an Edinburgh performance of old - the opposition don't have to do much, just keep the pressure up and wait for us to make a mistake. We've made plenty!

That territory stat (73%Blues], says everything about the first half.
Blues looking good. Edinburgh look lost. If Edinburgh don’t turn this round early in the second half, Blues could in for a great Easter.

Yes - if you get wrapped up in a maul after catching a kick you retain possession

He's been like this all season, yet we've not renewed Sam Hidalgo-Clyne's contract who has been excellent this season.
SHC was offered a contract but wanted too much money.

Looks as though you got that right then.

I know that, but compared to Fowles he looks like much, much better value!

We really haven't been good today. Get ourselves into a decent position and throw a wonky line out. Very frustrating

Yellow card here could make things interesting. Not that we deserve anything from this match!

Re: Edinburgh V Blues - Challenge Cup Quarter Final
Edinburgh have had so much possession and been in the right part of the field and the blues have just soaked it up and sat and waited for Edinburgh to make their mistakes, which we've been only too happy to oblige with.
Serious regression from Edinburgh's recent performances, accuracy has been awful

Blues are on a bit of a streak, well done.
I'd rather Edinburgh lose this rather than next weeks game. Time to focus on the league now.

Didn't see that result happening.
Great work by the Blues, really are hitting form over the last few weeks

Fair play Cardiff.
If Steffan was made up with the Scarlets result last night, he’ll be absolutely bursting with pride today.

Pretty much the strongest side Cardiff could field bit I don’t recognise a lot of these Edinburgh players, was this a strong side or were players being rested?

Pretty strong side given who was available - Ben Toolis was the only fit player rested / rotated.
That's another game where Edinburgh's halfbacks have had absolutely zero control. We've got away with it the last few months but came unstuck tonight.
I've said on here several times now that it's a huge concern for next season that we're relying on VDW (who really hasn't been good for a while now) and Simon hickey who is a new signing. Cockers has got rid of the best 9 at the club bar far and there's no sign of a competent replacement.
We're currently looking really weak at halfback next season and they're literally the most important positions.

Toolis has played too many games. SRU dictate the number of games players play. He had to miss a game.

Re: Edinburgh V Blues - Challenge Cup Quarter Final
Well done Cardiff, better side on the day won and totally deserved.
Agree with RDW's point earlier (and pretty much throughout this thread) Fowles is and remains not up to standard. His ball is painfully slow, he seems to want to wait until the opposition are totally lined up before he'll even consider getting the ball out. I thought Kennedy made a difference when he came on, in that he actually seemed to be willing to play at pace occasionally, but we really need a better scrum half for next season, as neither he nor Fowles are particularly good.
SHC on recent form looked like the man for the job, but up until now he's been hot and cold, and as has been mentioned was looking for far too much in terms of a contract.
VDW started this season really well, but I suspect he's likely knackered now as I believe he joined after playing for the SA lions for a season, and over the last few months his form has dipped.
I actually think this result will help the team, as they've possibly gotten into the comfort zone of winning every week, so hopefully this will act as a reminder they need to keep working hard for the run in.
Anyway well done Cardiff.

Re: Edinburgh V Blues - Challenge Cup Quarter Final
Just watched the game, a poor show from Edinburgh. Been saying it for a while but Edinburgh are still a couple of decent half backs away from being a decent side.
It might do them some good now though, no chance of believing their own hype now, just got to concentrate on the league and it can still turn into a decent season.

So the Luvvies' performance yesterday? Slightly early?
Would have been better suited to this morning.

And the fact that I'm from the west of Scotland, went to Glasgow University, love Glasgow and its people, love the train ride from Glasgow to Troon, think that Edinburgh is a faintly ridiculous jamboree of mincing nancy boys and someone from Leith once stole my girlfriend should only peripherally be in anybody's contemplation when hearing my opinion about both clubs.
