Ulster vs Glasgow

Glasgow
S Hogg; T Seymour, H Jones, A Dunbar, L Masaga; F Russell, A Price

Replacements: G Turner, R Grant, Z Fagerson, G Peterson, M Smith, H Prygos, P Horne, N Grigg
Not looking forward to this game for Glasgow. All expectation is on them to win after the last couple of weeks of "to fire or not to fire". The siege mentality may bolster Ulster who really could do with winning this to confirm a Champions Cup spot for next season. Glasgow are already into the semi final and have nothing much to play for. Several key players are out of form and there are youngsters who are keen to get a chance. Ulster have some youngsters who could do with seasoning. This will be a great experience for them to go against a good side with zero expectation as well as a few of the senior players to put their hands up to be part of the future leadership in Belfast.

If the ulster lads get the channeling of their emotions right i think they will win and win comfortably. If they've been distracted i suspect Glasgow could win handsomely.

If Ulster don't sort out their accuracy Glasgow won't be like Ospreys, they'll put them to the sword even on an off day

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
Good chance for a few Glasgow players to put their hands up for the play off squad. DR will undoubtedly rotate and rest a bit and despite winning last week, we were not entirely convincing at times. You still wonder if he really does know what his best XV actually is.
I can see a centre combo of Dunbar/Jones for this one. Surely Hastings deserves a start as well and George Horne is winging his way back from Oz and probably straight into the team.
We have got two matches to get firing on all cylinders, so this is by no means a dead rubber for us. We need to start playing well if we want to make any progress in the playoffs.

Price should get a game to try to get him back on the horse before his form goes over the cliff edge.

Its a double edged sword being certain of things at this stage of the season. As you guys say its so difficult to keep everyone pulling in the right direction when the job is done (in league position terms)

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
Well we know that Kibble, Wee Jonny and Batman are deffo non-starters.
Apparently Hogg spent today entertaining corporate sponsors, so he will probably sit this one out.
O'Halloran made a comment about needing to get an away win to prove to themselves that they can do it, which leads me to believe that it'll be a strongish side tomorrow a most of the fringe players being saved for thrashing the Luvvies at the Library.
1. Allan (Bhatti after 60)
2. Brown (Turner)
3. Nuke (Rae)
4. Naughty Boy
5. Swinson (McDonald)
6.Gibbins
8. Fagerson
7. Fuzzie
9. NIKO (well I would, just for a laugh) Aldi Price (Horne jnr)
10 Dancer (who must show some form, or at least some gumption) (Hastings)
11. Masaga
12 Eck The Street Brawler
13. Will the real Huw Jones please stand up.
14. Selkirk Pixie
15. Rhuaridh (Thompson)
We may see Niko on the wing instead ofLee Jones, depending on jetlag, but I'd like to see him at 9 getting right into the Ulster pack's faces. On oh so many levels.

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
No real complaints about the Glasgow side, probably about as strong as we could put out.
I think FR and AP have been told that they are playing for their spots in the team in the playoffs and need to put in a performance. I fully expect Adam Hastings and George Horne to get the nod next weekend against Edinburgh to make their pitch.
Nice to see Masaga finally get a start, we have been waiting all season to see what he is like, hope he won't disappoint. The Dunbar/Jones axis that we all thought would be our first choice centre pairing finally gets a go as well.
Baring Masaga, that is pretty much the Scotland backline!
The good thing for Glasgow is that we can put strong teams out for these last two games and still have a rest week before the semi. I am expecting a good performance.

Aldi Price's performance tomorrow will determine whether Henners starts with Horne on the bench or benches with AP starting. Similarly, if Dancer continues with his existentialist crise, or fart in a trance as we called it in Cowcaddens, then Furra Linee will probably start the semi at 10.

Makes you pine for the days of G-Dog, not! While at 13; Grigg (in the form of his life) Dunbar, and Will The Real Huw Jones Please Stand Up. You know, the Squashed Goblin might struggle to get in ahead of them.

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
Agree that a couple of players are playing for jerseys. Against Edinburgh (and likely into the playoffs) I’d be tempted to play
9. Horne Jr
10. Furralinee/Hastings
12. Johnson
13. The Pocket battleship
Form over reputation.

Wouldn’t have fancied making that call for Dunbar no try. Could have been given either way. It wasn’t clearly touching white to be fair.

Jeez! Ulster have woken up. Another passage of attack in waves getting closer and closer and Reidy goes over for a thumping third.
McPhillips curls it to the left of the posts.
28-15 and 62 minutes on the clock. Can they get the bonus point?

Am I right in saying that if Ulster fail to get a TBP win Edinburgh secure a play off spot.

I wouldn’t worry about that Welly, the way this weegie implosion is going the bonus point is a near certainty

Last scrum for Ulster. It all hangs on this leading to something.
And it does. Penalty to Ulster. Time to kick to,corner. Last lineout. Time is up.

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
Unbelievable. After multiple phases they get over. Brilliant by Ulster.
36-15 FT and the precious bonus point.
Now Glasgow have to play Edinburgh for the 1872 Cup and let them win.

Re: Ulster vs Glasgow
So is the 1872 Cup decided solely on wins or does points difference play a part?
I think if Edinburgh even get a LBP then the result in Munster v Ulster won’t matter.
