SURREY VS GLAMORGAN VITALITY T20 BLAST
There is only one change to the 15 man Surrey squad for tomorrow’s Vitality Blast clash between Surrey and Glamorgan.
With his call up to the England Test squad, Surrey will be without Sam Curran for the match – but he has been replaced by South African seamer Morne Morkel.
Full Surrey Squad
Jade Dernbach (captain)
Gareth Batty
Scott Borthwick
Rory Burns
Rikki Clarke
Tom Curran
Aaron Finch
Ben Foakes
Will Jacks
Nic Maddinson
Morne Morkel
Mat Pillans
Ollie Pope
Jason Roy
Freddie van den Bergh
Burns to replace baby face for me T20 isn't a competition suited for Morkel
Over to you chaps

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN VITALITY T20 BLAST
JimBob - who we playing?
Logically, Burns or Badger should return as they were both in the team along with Sam before being benched to allow Roy and Tom to come in. However, things aren't always logical!
Rather surprisingly, Burns was playing effective t20 cricket and was unlucky to be left out. However, if he plays, it means we really don't have anyone to fill in as a sixth bowler. It's tricky but I would still pick him, back the five bowlers and take the risk of not having a sixth.
I wouldn't be amazed though if Stewie & co back Morkel.

JimBob - I know the mistake was deliberate.

Toss won by Surrey who bat first - Borthwick in for Curran, let’s hope we break the Glamorgan hoodoo

Going for a batsman who can't hit and a sixth bowler who's almost guaranteed to be worse than all the other five!
You could say I'm not a fan of Badger in this format.

Such a daft decision even Jacks would have been a better optionguildfordbat wrote:jimbobgooner wrote:Borthwick in for Curran

Here comes the classic Surrey off to a flyer lose a bunch of wickets and hobble to a below par 150 t20 innings

Yeah, waiting for Borthwick to end up 7 not out from 8.

194-4 off 20 - great knock from Maddinson of all people (albeit a lot of luck along the way - Wagg will regret dropping that catch and missed run out!)
Think that’s about 15 ahead of par - mainly due to poor Glamorgan fielding (woeful at times). Without Ingram playing their batting looks a lot weaker...

Can't help but think we would have got over 200 if Clarke come in before his holiness

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN VITALITY T20 BLAST
194 from our 20. I still think that could be gettable but the canny Rob Key reckons it's above par. Most worryingly, Key thinks the track will suit the spinners and we might see Borthwick sending a few overs down.
If Badger bowls at Wagg, it should be compulsory under health & safety regs to issue every member of the crowd with a crash helmet!

Glamorgan in the hunt so far. 35/2 off 4. Stupid overthrow from Batty giving away 4 runs.

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN VITALITY T20 BLAST
Excellent 7th over from Pillans going for just 3. All quick deliveries but varied in height and placement.
Could be a useful signing for Yorks if that happens as seems on the cards.
Then Meschede hits Batty for 3 consecutive sixes before falling to the 4th ball.
Now 65/3 off 7.Still anyone's game.

Embarrassing from Batty giving Meschede a send off after being tonked to all parts.

Wagg currently on 27 from 9 deliveries. 3 successive maximums off the awful Borthwick only interrupted by a wide.

Hopefully that's the last time I see Borthwick play a T20 game

That game was there to be won. We mucked up badly. Particularly poor captaincy.

From an outsider, you have to question Dernbachs captaincy there. Pillans was bowling well and Dernbach only bowled 3. To use Borthwick for 2 overs was a big mistake

Spot on, Jimbo. Maddeningly, we could all see it coming. During the interval, some smart arse here was even predicting carnage if Borthwick bowled at Wagg.

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN VITALITY T20 BLAST
Yep absolutely criminal captaincy and team selection I’m afraid - Borthwick is a fine cricketer but a T20 player he is not, and bowling him to the short leg side boundary was even more bizarre
