Ospreys vs Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Kick off Friday 19:35 at the Liberty Stadium.
Going in to the first game the Ospreys have shown little form or ability in the pre season warm up games where as their Rvials this Friday seem to have turned a few heads besting Newcastle Falcons away and narrowly losing to Bath RFC
New signings played minor parts in the warm up games but I think we are all hoping for a rousing start to the season with decent quality selections.

Or not - absolutely butchered our first backs move! That pass was never on.RDW_Scotland wrote:We're not getting anywhere with mauls - 22m out let's get it to the backs to set up a platform

Bit hilarious all round so far, this game.

Not sure Hamish Watson should be used as a first phase carrier from off the top ball - because he's not got the bulk Ospreys just triple teamed him and held him up.

Cockers won't be happy at half time - far too many basic errors and penalties.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Massively surprising to see our scrum getting smashed - Berghan has lost 10kg according to Jim Hamilton. May not have been a good idea!
3-3 probably a fair reflection for that half - was pretty grim.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
both teams looking very rusty. Lot of misplaced passes, handling errors and so on.
2nd half will be interesting to see if either team can sort themselves out

Our accuracy when in possession has been bloody awful.

I'm not so surprised, Tom Botha, the new Ospreys tighthead is one of the best scrummaging TH in the league.

Much better from Edinburgh but again a lack of attention to detail. Lots of pick and goes and with the whole pack there you shouldn't be losing a turnover penalty!

Edinburgh pack starting to gain ascendancy - Ospreys will certainly take 3 from that position

not been impressed with Hamilton, he's lost the ball repeatedly and made silly mistakes.

Classic George North finish! Credit to Ospreys for upping their game after a period of Edinburgh ascendency.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Really frustrating. Sloppy errors getting punished. Kinghorn really needs to watch a few videos of Mike Brown and learn some basics.
Still, overall not a bad performance. Just punished by silly mistakes.

I don't think any Edinburgh player is coming out of this game with credit, with the possible exception of the shoe, who was decent when he was on.

We could lose every game leading up to December and I'd still be confident beating Glasgow!Eejit wrote:Fancy just sending the 1872 cup over in a taxi now so we don't have to bother with the games?RDW_Scotland wrote:Mistakes!!!

How many knock ons???
I think Bradbury will have little trouble getting the 6 jersey back.
We should really focus on that bonus point. Historically we've not been able to salvage those from these situations.

Tight game. Probably one that got away but LBPs are important.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Would like to see a replay of that maul given it was charging forward!
Ospreys did what they needed to do and had george North stardust to get the tries.
Edinburgh were crippled by errors yet still could have won the game.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
There was a lot of mistakes in that side, hopefully down to players still coming back from preseason.
Berghan was losing the ball in contact and wasn't great in the scrum. But this was his first action this season
Hamilton - don't rate him, nothing i have seen so far has changed my mind
Scott & Bennett - I forgot Bennett was playing at times.
Hickey - going to take him time to adjust to the league
Kinghorn - few missed passes and losing the ball in the contact
hopefully next week they're a bit better.

Some good signs by the Ospreys last night, good atmosphere at the Liberty. Thought the Davis and Davies halfback worked really well. Hope young Luke prices’ injury is not to serious.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Just watched the game a little while ago. Both sides very good defensively and will be hard to beat this season. Not entirely convinced by the attacking shape of either side but you have to say George North showed his class and took both his tries very well.
Cockers will be fuming though at the amount of ball Edinburgh coughed up and how they struggled to turn their periods of domination into points on the board.
First game up though and a losing bonus point at the Liberty may not be sniffed at later on in the season.
Ospreys certainly look a better team this season than for the past few!

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Well done on the win Ospreys, North looks as good as I have seen him in a while. If he can stay fit and play at that level for the rest of the season, i think you could have a successful campaign.
Result was probably fair in the end, but neither team looked great in attack (North aside), think both teams have stuff to work on and can probably improve.

Yeah, the Ospreys pack looks decent overall and outside of the halfbacks the backs look good (on paper). But I'm concerned that about their halfbacks. They've gone from Rhys Webb and Dan Biggar to Aled Davies and ANother (Luke Price/Sam Davies). That's some step down in quality and experience. They've strengthen wing and centre with North and Scott Williams. Those two have their critics but they score tries and have often worked well together for Wales. Just not sure that the backs will be getting that much quality ball with the half back pairing they have. Is there anyone else on the horizon for Ospreys at 10? I also think they need a big grizzly ball carrying no.8 too. If they can get an 8 and 10 then they'd be a handy side this season I feel.

Re: Ospreys vs Edinburgh
Price is pretty good with ball in hand and looks a lot faster than Davies. I’d probably have Habberfield and Hook as my starting pair - Hook has enough quality outside him not to frick things up.
