New FIFA based Challenge League
First topic message reminder :
The Challenge League is coming to the end of season 3 and preparing for a reboot as we move on to FIFA 19. We are spreading word to see who is interested in playing.
In short, you buy and sell players, build a squad, then pick a team/tactics to play matches that are simulated on FIFA19 (CPU v CPU). The games are streamed live on Twitch, so you can also watch your games (and other teams for scouting purposes!!) each week.
Think Football Manager, but with the game engine being FIFA 19.
Players can be traded within the league with other managers, but each week you will also get randomly generated offers for two of your players. On top of this, you also get to buy two players from out of the league each week.
All player valuations are done based on the TM website http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/detailsuche/spielerdetail/suche.
Players values are frozen at the start of each season so that their value remains unchanged throughout that season. All offers from outside the league are based on the frozen value, and all purchases of players outside the league are based on the current TM value.
If you want to know a bit more, have a look here:
https://www.606v2.com/f265-the-miky-challenge-league
https://www.606v2.com/t66501-challenge-league-rules
We have the final week of the existing game still to play, so you can also take a look on Twitch to get a feel for it.
https://www.twitch.tv/hero606v2
The new league will start with a low level of players and build, with FIFA 19 rating caps. The aim is that these caps will increase each season so that the league grows with them. We also plan to move on to each new version of FIFA, each year, which offers the options of buying for future potential too!
At the moment, it looks like being League 2 teams, with some degree of a mini-draft to start shaping your side. Budgets and ratings cap will then be set to what is appropriate to the teams we have in the league.

Think I’ll wait until I know my team before scouting and nominating for draft.

We should. Contingency could be 1 CPU Manager until a 16th Manager comes along.

Yes, another one of the JA managers said he'd sign up but is just taking his sweet time about it. I think he mentioned the formatting on mobile.

The formatting on mobile is horrible. But you can change to web view which is much better.
But for some reason it’s started to switch back to App view after only a few days.

Any sign of a 16th manager?
If not, can we have one CPU managed team i.e. they use default FIFA team and tactics each week, with no injuries and their players can't be bought

So this is what I make the 16 teams then.
If anyone has a team they want, I suggest they state on here, and if no one else says they want them by the end of the day tomorrow, then they can have them.
Then we can randomly assign the rest.

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
Will start to generate the fixtures and get everything set-up over the next few days.
I assume we want to do a 30 game season, playing each other home and away once?
A cup competition will only take up 4 rounds of games, with only the first one involving all teams. How about the first round takes up a normal week, but for 2nd round, semis and final, we do it alongside the league week (but with no injuries perhaps?), so everyone still has a game each week. And we have two cups, one on the first half of the season and one in the second half. So a season will last 32 weeks
And we do Marky's suggestion with the no-rules

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
Sounds good, so things to do are:
1. Allocate teams - anyone with a preference to say so by the end of tomorrow
2. Draft - decide how its working, and for everyone to nominate 3 players - defender / midfielder / forward
3. Tactics - a sample tactics sheet based on FIFA 19, and a summary of tactics options? Not sure we need the full list of formations again as I can't imagine its changed much from FIFA 18
4. Team pages - I've got a format for everyone to use, will post it up later

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
I would prefer Colchester please, being an Essex boy and all. Essex by birth, Canadian by genes, Belgian by choice.
Also, speaking as a West Brom fan whose team keeps being linked to spending ridiculous amounts of cash on him - you can keep Bradley Dack and shove him up your Lancashire a$$. If I'm spending £20m on a player I want him to have some pedigree, not 3/4 of a good season in the ruddy Championship. Joao fricking Moutinho cost £5m, give me him and his three quadruplet brothers rather than that podgy tap-in merchant.

So how about everyone gets £5m which is split between team and cash. We take MK Dons out of the list, as they are a bit of an outlier in terms of valuation.
So if you have Bury, its £3.8m for the existing squad and £1.2m budget.
Everyone then gets £1m extra for the draft, which can be spent on up to 3 draft players, or added to the budget for future use
Is this still the plan for deciding starting budgets?

No. I think we were just going same budget for everyone.
Will confirm soon.
I have no preference for team.
Note that requesting a team doesn't mean you are guaranteed them. If someone else wants the same team, then we'll have to assign it randomly.

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
Right average League 1 player value is £214k. Take Sunderland out of the equation, given they really skew the numbers, and the average valuation is £179k. As this is the level above ours, we should use this as the guide for budgets etc.
The suggestion is £1m main budget each, and then £200k bonus each week for submitting tactics on time.
Then a budget of £1m for the draft.
You can use some/all of your main budget towards the draft bids, but not vice versa. You lose any of your draft budget that isn't spent on the draft.
How does that sound?

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
Interesting one. I would say you are allowed only a certain amount of free's a season. Not looked into it too much but guessing you could build quite a squad on those free's.
What research I have done shows me there are a huge amount of options out there. You can really mould your side. In some respects, now that I have looked, if capping it all including drafts at 70 kind of makes the draft pointless. I would just go out and buy.
I know it is a bit late, but maybe say you can make 5 foreigns in pre season instead of a draft? Or have we said anything about the number of transfers a week - is it 2 as normal?

£0 - so fill your boots
On that topic - are we doing the whole youth team idea again or will it go a bit crazy with this many teams
I'd stick to 2 foreigns a week, yes. I see no reason to change it to 5 foreigns in pre season, that goes against the whole principle of wanting to start from a slow base. As far as I can see there's only 1 70 rated player in League 2 at the moment, that rule would allow up to 70 of them in straight away

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
The only thing going for the draft is that there is no first come, first served.
Using Angel Gomes as the example, on a normal foreign someone could just buy him for nothing as long as they were the first to do so.
With the draft, they have to bid for him and could easily be outbid if someone else wants him too

Yeah, thats what i thought. Which means, and i think we are all savvy enough to do this, we are keeping the players we want close to our chest. Which again makes the draft a bit pointless as we will be throwing in any old crap.
Instead of us choose, can we randomize it in some way?

Re: New FIFA based Challenge League
Its because we're all savvy that I'm assuming that between 15 other managers someone will have identified the same players that I would want! So I'm going to put them in the draft and make sure that they get bid on rather than be there for easy pickings
