RIP James Small
James Small was an absolutely ferocious winger who was part of South Africa's 1995 RWC winning team.

Re: RIP James Small
Third member of the 95 team to die early. Throw in Jonah from the opposition and that is one hell of an attrition rate.
Small was indeed ferocious, and for me often ended on the wrong side of the line. Kind of guy you would always want playing for you rather than against.

RIP to him. I’ve seen a few people say about his defence v Lomu in 95, but my biggest memory of him will always be his battles with John Bentley on the 97 Lions tour.

Re: RIP James Small
Just seen this news elsewhere .
How sad ...one of my favourite players at the time. Small but wow aggressive and that Final in 1995. He played a fantastic game v Lomu.
And yes those battles with John Bentley....epic

Loved his battles against Bentley and his amazing Lomu defence in the 95 final. Superb player, much underrated. 50 is too young.

Re: RIP James Small
Really sad news, I remember him well from the 1995 RWC and the spat with Bentley.
I recall him trying a blatant trip to stop Cullen scoring so he was no angel at times but he was a great player and character in the post professional era.

RIP - respect to his family.
No Angel is the word. Just watch the 1997 Lions tour video again, or read this.
