They've been outmuscled before they've been outplayed. England needed Farrell's missed penalty. Would have made it 15-12. Instead it went 18-9, then 18-12. They've never had that jeopardy on the scoreboard.

Kolbe magic. More danger of SA in broken field on the turnover. The perfect gameplan in the end from Rassie, but the game was closer than the scoreboard suggests.

True. For all the SA pressure , England have just made far too many mistakes. Losing Sinckler at the start was a cruel blow ; but since then they have let themselves down badly , I'm afraid.
Players - and Eddie - will be gutted. As are we.
Congrats SA .

It’s pretty obvious Kolisi is a political selection. The commentators keep gushing over it.

What a day to put in your worst performance.
Sinckler going off was huge, as well, but some players have been tested and found wanting. Hopefully we can finally be rid of this myth that Daly is a top class player, he's had enough chances. Cole is well past it.
Credit to SA, they've been pretty decent, but they haven't needed to be excellent when we can't catch the ball and concede a penalty at every scrum.

Here's the thing - there's one person trolling repeatedly, and there's the other person defending themselves. Would appreciate some modding before it gets to the point please?
He's getting the reaction he wants, spoiling the game for everyone else, contributing next to nothing. It's not an equal thing.

Congrats South Africa. One team turned up and brought their A game. One didn’t. Set piece dominant, defence dominant, played some rugby when they had the chance.
As for England, we’ll you can argue they weren’t allowed to play by SA but when they look back in this they will look at unforced error after error that gave the saffers the chance to dominate.
You see it so often in team sport, you get rattled early and it spreads through the team. Didn’t get the 50:50s from the ref, but when you’re on the back foot you generally don’t.
Thoroughly beaten by a better team in the day.

Fantastic performance by SA
They deserved that.
But England really did have a shocker . They will see that as The One That Got Away , given the form they had coming in to the game.
Must admit I never saw that coming.

Well done to South Africa. A very comfortable win in the end. They were too strong for England. In the end the Southern Hemisphere was too much for England (beat Argentina; beat Australia; beat NZ; lose to SA).

Anyway, have to say...like last week in the NZ game...not wildly out of what was anticipated.
Hate to say I told you so, but SA scored 2 tries exactly as predicted - from turnover ball against a broken field defence.
And SA's pack the difference. Just sheer forward power and, in particular, the scrum set piece.
England will feel they didn't quite get to shoot a fair shot, and without front foot ball, didn't have the experience of how to both stay in the game nor how to get over the gainline repeatedly and score tries. Again, another criticism I've made, but it's the Sarries effect - not enough practice at play in or behind a pack that's on the back foot.
Either way, England contributed very well to both the tournament and the final itself, but sheer, brute power was the difference, and the savvy gameplan to know how and when to pick England off.
Rugby's a simple game at times - very simple!

Well done South Africa. They did to England what England did to New Zealand, and ultimately won convincingly.
I think losing Sinckler early had a huge impact on the team, but right from the off they didn't look to have the intensity they had last week. It's a shame it was such a one sided game.

Have to admit it does seem to be a bit of a theme. Gatland made a fair point and Eddie sunk to a low level by taking a cheap swipe. Is EJ staying on?

Re: RWC final 19 - England v SA Match Thread - 02-11-2019 - Kick Off 09:00am
Well done to the Boks and bad luck to England
England peaked a week to soon and SA timed their form perfectly. Losing KS so early on, in hindsight was also devastating to them, if the England team has a weakness, it is maybe their depth at prop!
It will actually go down as a great final, won by the underdogs with two great tries putting the icing on the cake
What a tournament it has been!

Seems to be a theme...beating NZ in a World Cup semi-final is a bad omen for the Final
Ah well : has been a great tournament. Japanese have hosted it superbly (apart from the storm!) and England did everything right until today so gave us all a good run.
Sun will come up tomorrow.
Still gutted though.
