What is the Best Christmas Gift You Have Bought This Year? (Two Votes only, please)
Culture Cup Christmas Special - Round Seven Voting - Best Gift You Bought for Someone (including who) this year
Well, we got to the final rounds of the Culture Cup with barely any tears at all. I think we should all be proud. As I sit here in a burning country on Christmas Day (it's begun here, Merry Christmas PJ [and Alfie, who doesn't frequent this area of the forum but is in Australia and clearly a lovely bloke]), drinking neat rum alone because people didn't seem to accept my Christmas Eve tradition of getting smashed, I appreciate you all.
This message will start the same for each of these three threads because I don't have the motivation or desire to find any difference, especially nearing 1am and drunk.
Round Seven, denoted as such because I am writing it second, is the best gift these people have bought for someone else this year. Vote for two, if you can accept doing so.

Samo - Lynx Africa Set 4
PJ - Harmonica 4
Twist - My one is Scalextric - no real reasoning needed lol That's the most excited I have been opening a present. 4
McLaren - Anal 3
Me - Big TV 3
Trebs - N64 3
Me - Big TV 3
Hero - First born child (born December 28th) 3
Jules - Whatever my wife got me last year - I have no f*cking idea!
That makes it sound like I've never had any great presents - which I'm sure is not the case - but I don't make a point of remembering them. 3
Daggers - An original oil painting depicting the Incredible Hulk signed by Stan Lee, with providence. 3
LT - A Pregnancy Tester Kit - showing positive. We had been trying for a few years including attending the fertility clinic. I had needed to provide a "sample" which I dropped on the bus (all over someone!!) so was told to provide another at the hospital. Unlike in films they did not have a special "five knuckle shuffle room" so I was consigned to a cubicle in the toilets. Not ideal but it all came good in the end. 2
LD - Atari 2600 2
Galted - the box of assorted runs-inducing fruit squares I inexplicably received from Granny every single f*cking year - miss it now 2
Beer - SNES 1
Marky - PS4, because I purchased it myself and I was incredibly happy 1
Superfly - £1,000 cold hard cash (my Dad won the pools and was easing his guilt at leaving my mum two years before). 0

Re: Culture Cup Christmas Special - Round Seven Voting - Best Gift You Bought for Someone (including who) this year
Talking of Christmas pressies, and this is no lie, this is a true story, genuinely. One of the blokes who drinks at my club is a LFC season ticket holder, he has been for years, about 20-30 years, he follows them everywhere.
Anyway, god, I'm laughing whilst typing this.
Well, anyway, he was going up to Liverpool to watch them every other week, and when he was in our club, he would remind us, that there is always an empty seat infront of him and to his right, as he knows how valuable these seats are, he enquired about it, but he was told all the time, nope sorry, it belongs to a season ticket holder, hes asked numerous times, he was even asking the people sitting around it. But nope he could not get to the bottom of why this seat was always empty.
That was until a boxing day fixture a few years ago, when to my mates surprise, there was somebody actually sitting there, finally. My mate could not stop himself, and he tapped the guy on his shoulder and asked him where has he been ?????
The other guy shook his head and told him, his wife bought him a season ticket for Christmas, as she knew he had been trying for years to get one, his wife did not realise he was missing half the season as she kept it as a surprise for Christmas day.
I thought that this story was hilarious, does anybody else have any of these types of stories ???

There was a Millwall supporter site thread doing the rounds a few years back about a Millwall supporter who'd bought a season ticket. He thought he had to reserve his seat before each game and when he phoned the ticket office was told it was taken and so repeatedly bought an additional ticket for games while his allocated seat stood empty. He went onto the supporter site to complain and still could not grasp why he couldn't reserve his seat despite unsympathetic advice and insults which soon went viral.
Unfortunately the original thread is either restricted or has been deleted, but references to it are still available. There is the chance it was just a wind-up, if so it was superbly done. But living in the SE myself, I know plenty of people that thick.

That’s fantastic.
I guess as it’s hard to get on the list, it was worth it in the end, but Christ I think I’d be a little ticked off too.

Must admit the first time I heard that story it was about Newcastle United.

I'm shocked that 'batteries' doesn't appear on the list. Battery buyers are Saints at Christmas.

Could do with some some double As. I've got a surplus of triple As at the minute which is good.
Or do you mean car, solar or phone batteries?

Yeah, Triple As have collapsed in market value. Too much surplus supply in people's drawers!
Oh Missis! Cheeky!
