Definitely off to Aston Villa, McLeish is a quality manager and he deserves to be in the PL!

Listening to the radio now - its a mixed bag.

Some are happy with his defensive record others saying they wont step into villa park ever again!

Expect Billy Davies, Chris Hughton and probably Dave Jones to be linked with this job now. All three are good managers and could probably take them back up.

only Chris hughton has form - the other two will take you to the playoffs and lose.

Did Davies not get Derby out on the first go?

I don't even think Birmingham will make the play offs. There is little or no money in the transfer kitty and half a dozen of their decent players are expected to leave.

It could be a long hard slog next season.

He won the playoffs in 2007 I do believe.

It's been rejected by Birmingham, they are demanding compensation and calling him disrespectful.

I say well done Birmingham, standing up to what was disrespectful, he resigned by e-mail and seems likely to move to Villa after the board put their faith in him after he got them relegated.

Birmingham would do well to remember how they acquired McLeish in the first place. They poached him from the Scotland job! What goes around...

As for resigning by email - It was payback - McLeish found his chief-scout was being sacked....when he was copied in on a email.
