Starlite - the "wonder material" still waiting to change our lives
Just saw this on the BBC website. Its a series of 6 short videos, about the accidental discovery, 30 years ago, of a compound thats resistant to extreme heat, that can basically just be painted on to any object or surface. Its creator - a hairdresser from Hartlepool, of all things, had the scientific interest and was great at promoting his product. Unfortunately he lacked the business sense to strike a deal with any of the many interested companies, to make a commercial success if it.
His children are still hoping to rectify this situation.
