Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Ladyboys 02/11/2020
A very big game for Glasgow; defeat would make qualification for the play offs a dim and distant prospect, victory for the Dubliners would put a lot of clear blue water between them and the (distantly) following pack.
Glasgow
Team
1. Aki Seiuli (14)
2. Grant Stewart (33)
3. D’arcy Rae (73)
4. Rob Harley (234)
5. Hamish Bain (1)
6. Ryan Wilson (C) (172)
7. Tom Gordon (21)
8. TJ Ioane (1)
9. George Horne (59)
10. Pete Horne (173)
11. Niko Matawalu (130)
12. Sam Johnson (63)
13. Nick Grigg (74)
14. Tommy Seymour (147)
15. Huw Jones (40)
Replacements
16. George Turner (52)
17. Alex Allan (104)
18. Enrique Pieretto (2)
19. Chris Fusaro (182)
20. Fotu Lokotui (2)
21. Jamie Dobie (9)
22. Brandon Thomson (24)
23. Ratu Tagive (16)
Leinster
15. Jimmy O’Brien (20)
14. Cian Kelleher (15)
13. Rory O’Loughlin (71)
12. Tommy O’Brien (5)
11. Dave Kearney (150)
10. Harry Byrne (12)
9. Luke McGrath (130)
1. Peter Dooley (77)
2. James Tracy (112)
3. Michael Bent (143)
4. Ross Molony (98)
5. Devin Toner (250)
6. Josh Murphy (34)
7. Scott Penny (15)
8. Rhys Ruddock (176) CAPTAIN
16. Dan Sheehan (1)
17. Michael Milne (10)
18. Tom Clarkson (2)
19. Jack Dunne (8)
20. Scott Fardy (63)
21. Hugh O’Sullivan (21)
22. David Hawkshaw
23. Dan Leavy (64)
I don't think there is such a thing as a week Leinster side, but I'll let our Celtic cousins comment on their line up.
Grant Stewart comes in at hooker. The Giant Red Crayon takes over from the gigantic Ritchie Gray in the second row. Big Ritchie, who has looked less than 100% fit since his return, is not in the 23 at all. Young Hamish Bain continues and there is no second row on the bench. Scott Fardy could have a field day when he comes on. Glasgow continue with the Trumpton RFC 9,10,11: Horne, Horne, Matawalu. In the centres Smilin Sam and Squiggsy will be hoping to catch Toonie's eye given the lack of creativity at Llanelli yesterday.
One to watch for Leinster fans? Feast your eyes on The House Elf when he comes on for Hornito. He really is one for the future.

Hazel, were we typing at the same time?
I'll let Flounder or GC find a way of merging them. Or sneak into your room at the Home For Distressed Gentlefolk and smother you while you sleep.

I like the look of your thread better Jumbopip. Will allow the admins the joy of merging the threads or picking yours
Is it sad that I reckon that Glasgow have two centres on the park that are better than Scotland's? Also what happened with Ritchie Gray? Was he travelling reserve in Llanelli?

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Ladyboys 02/11/2020
Thanks Hazel.
I think Ritchie just isn't match fit yet. The team as a whole ran out of steam around the 60 minute mark against the O's but Ritchie has looked "peak and drawn" ,as my old granny used to say, since returning.
I think 9-10-112-13 will all be auditioning for a place against Italy. Tagive and Shuggie must also feel they are in with a shout.
I just feel that the Molony-Toner v BBB- Bain The Wain battle might decide the match.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Ladyboys 02/11/2020
Harry Byrne at 10 has more potential upside than his brother who was on the bench for Ireland at the weekend. You mightn’t have heard of either O’Briens in the back line but they both have a lot of potential. Leinster tight five are experienced (ie getting old) but the back row is a tasty proposition. Leavy and Fardy on the bench.... well everyone knows what those guys can bring. Should be an interesting game. Maybe Glasgow by 4-6 points.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Ladyboys 02/11/2020
Thank you BG
Also BWS, we are finding ways to not score and lose at the minute. Leinster by 10 - 15
In all seriousness, I hope our front rows can get on top of Leinsters. The problem is the rest of the pack. Glasgow's will fight but will likely be outclassed. Leavy and Fardy to come on vs Fusaro and Lokotui is a no contest.
The backs Glasgow probably have the advantage if we can give them enough platform!

I'd just like to stand up for the Offalymen, and the other boggers, Kiwis and Aussies in the team.
Free the non-Jackeen 12.
The Leinster bench is fairly raw outside of Leavy and Fardy.

You may not know this but I am awfully keen on language. Once when Rachel Riley from Countdown appeared on the tellybox Feckless Rogue, my son in law, let out a barely audible but still lustful moan. Princess Daughter said she didn't mind too much as RR was her girl crush so she understood his feelings.
My response was along the lines that RR was pretty enough but I'd much rather sit in a quiet corner with the dictionary woman, Suzie Dent, discussing etymology.
Soooo, what is a Jackeen? Where does that one come from?

Apologies Jimbo - only seeing this now.
Jackeens - as culchies call Dublin people.
Culchie - likely derived from the village of Kiltimagh in Mayo ( Coillte Mach In Irish). Coillte means wood or trees - where rural people live - in the snobbish view of the city types.
Jackeens - people called Jack English name or fond of the Jack (Union Jack) which people from Dublin were often perceived as by those living in rural Ireland.

Sneaky McGrath. Tapped the ball with his foot behind the ref and then ran around from behind him.
Another scrum half looking to up his game after Cooney got himself a MOTM accolade for Ulster against Cardiff Blue earlier.

and Leinster get there third from a 5m lineout
They have been extremely clinical, taking all their chances against a very game Glasgow side
Amazingly Byrne does miss the kick
22-7 Leinster

Got to say the Leinster league side are very very good at doing their job week in, week out. Dooley and Bent are a very solid And experienced front row pairing with Tracy. They don’t get enough credit at times.

Glasgow hold out for HT
We have not been playing badly against the Leinster machine, but they are at a different level and it has been one way traffic the past 20 mins

You get the sense if the Glasgow backs got a bit more front foot ball, they could let fly.

An excellent game so far; if only I was enjoying it as a neutral
I thought the Leinster pack would bully us and so it is proving. Harry Byrne looks a real prospect.
Pot Hale thanks. I knew what a culchie was thanks to Roddy Doyle's excellent A Star Called Henry, but now I now why.
As for a Jakeen
Would a francophone republican (like Samuel Becket, say) point to a Dubliner and cry, "J'accuse Jakeen!"?

Leinster stung into action and make their way down towards 22. Better Glasgow defending though.
But too much and they concede a penalty 10m from their line. Leinster attempt to drive but Glasgow frustrate successfully.
