World Cup 2021

Decision expected this week on whether the World Cup will go ahead. Rumours are that Australia don't want to travel and NZ not keen, I can only see this going one way.

I'm not so sure. With tickets sold, and you would think sponsors lined up. I think they will try and make it go this year. As if they postponed it for a year, you would imagine a major problem with the grounds they have chosen and availability. 

Australia just aren't interested in international rugby, the New Zealand being away from home and wanting to spend time with families was always going to raise an issue.

Aussies would prefer to play SOO than play in a a world cup. They are very insular

I just hope it can happen. The game in this country needs a boost, and the world cup would do that

World Cup going ahead this autumn. Hopefully the World Cup where England can finally topple Australia.

At this moment,would rather they postponed it till next year,  and we extended the season  to cover the postponed games. This season at the moment is getting ridiculous.

Should also say this is slightly false. The announcement came without the nrl signing up to this. So there is no guarantee that Australia will be here, or any nrl players representing any other country. 

Just put it back a year.

And it's confirmed that Australia and New Zealand have pulled out of all formats (men, women's and wheelchair). As the Nrl again show how much there against not only international rugby, but it becoming bigger than there soo. 
To be honest whilst it's no surprise, it is a disgusting decision. 
And before anyone uses covid as an excuse, then why are there rugby union teams quite happy to come over and play test in the autumn?

I agree & New Zealand sent their cricket team over for the World Test Final too.

Normally I would be thinking no Aus/NZ = no World Cup but I would be seriously considering going ahead to send a message to them.

Agree, add another country and a combined all stars who are over here, or a combined lions not picked for there countries.

Problem is not them, it's if the nrl back it up by refusing to release players for the Polynesian countries.


To be honest, a wc without them in my opinion could be just as good, and not have the it's Australia and x in the final hanging over it.

And as expected,  another blow as All 16 nrl clubs vote in favour of the Australia/New Zealand decision.

And it's been confirmed that it will be pushed back at least a year (providing Australia and New Zealand feel like playing it next year).
Not a suprised, just a very disappointing decision that puts the Nrl & there  clubs

Agreed, the whole matter stinks of the NRL protecting their own interests.

It's just very disappointing,  at a time when the sport need a a boast, and every other sports are having international games. The greed and the self interest of the Nrl is damaging to the sport in general.

The ARLC don't want anything undermine SOO. Very insular on their part
