SURREY VS KENT T20 VITALITY BLAST
SURREY HAVE NAMED A SQUAD OF 13 FOR THEIR CRUCIAL VITALITY BLAST SOUTH GROUP MATCH WITH KENT SPITFIRES AT THE KIA OVAL ON FRIDAY NIGHT.
With Sam Curran, Tom Curran & Jason Roy all in isolation after a Covid outbreak within the England camp, Will Jacks has been drafted into the international squad and is therefore unavailable for this fixture.
Kyle Jamieson’s glute injury sustained during the LV= County Championship draw with Hampshire has ruled him out of any further participation in his scheduled stay with the Club.
Ollie Pope remains unavailable with a thigh injury and Hashim Amla is out after taking several blows to his hand during his monumental effort to bat through the day at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday.
As cover for those absentees, big hitting 25-year-old Tim David has been drafted into the squad for the final two Vitality Blast matches.
David has represented Hobart Hurricanes & Perth Scorchers in the Australian Big Bash League and arrives at Surrey off the back of an impressive Pakistan Super League, in which he hit 180 runs in six innings for Lahore Qalandars. David has also played 19 international fixtures for Singapore.
There is no place in the squad for Matthew Dunn.
Whilst Ben Foakes , Liam Plunkett , James Taylor and Reece Topley remain on the treatment table.
FULL SQUAD:
Gareth Batty (c)
Gus Atkinson
Rory Burns
Jordan Clark
Rikki Clarke
Tim David
Laurie Evans
Ben Geddes
Conor McKerr
Daniel Moriarty
Ryan Patel
Jamie Overton
Jamie Smith (wk)
Losing Jacks and Pope is a massive blow to our hopes of qualifying.
Patel will definitely miss out, so it's between Clarke , Geddes and McKerr to join him possibly McKerr as David can bowl some right arm spin.
Over to you chaps

Re: SURREY VS KENT T20 VITALITY BLAST
Thanks, JimBob.
I woukd guess Patel (he always seems your banker to miss out! ) and McKerr to be on the bench.
However you cut it though, very difficult to see us scoring many runs or having much oomph with Roy, Jacks, Pope, Amla and the Currans all absent.
Not confident, not confident at all.

Re: SURREY VS KENT T20 VITALITY BLAST
Regardless of the pitch excuses, clueless batting from Evans and Geddes, happy admiring their forward defences and not looking for singles every ball

Take the pace off Gareth....1 Overton over later, 15 runs conceded

Re: SURREY VS KENT T20 VITALITY BLAST
Defeat obviously accepted before the game, manner, not so much, sadly, not a lot we can do about it with a team filled with so much dross batting, bowling, fielding, captaincy. Does anyone else get very annoyed listening to that Church bloke and his endless sycophancy, does he ever have an opinion that veers from Jim Bowen style, super smashing lovely
