Awful call that. No reward for the Lions.
Rewarded Ezebeth from the side, for the penalty that was missed though.

Huge loss for South Africa with du Toit not making it much past 21 minutes.

He's been struggling since that Duhan hit. I think he landed awkwardly and already had a shoulder knock.
A huge blow for the Boks. I'm so surprised that Jacques du Plessis isn't in the Boks squad for this reason. He's a very similar style of player to PSdT.

Great defending by VDM.
Refs seem to be being guided so far for the hour long rant.
Tongue in cheek for the defending by the way. Just annoying that the clear yellow at least has been ignored against SA to level out last week.

Shouldn't have been a yellow as Kolbe shouldn't be on the field.

Very fair yellow. He's nowhere near the ball, knows what he's doing and hacks Kolbe's legs out.

The Lions chase had a massive dog leg if SA shifted the ball to the left wing there.

Utterly dismal refereeing. Murray landed on his head, not his back. Biggar got a forearm in his back, but Jonker was more interested in Curry's little shove.

Definitely a red, he would have landed head first if his hand didn't come out.
If eyes on the ball discount all punishments, I look forward to someone drop kicking Rassie while watching where the ball is

Re: South Africa v British & Irish Lions, 31 July
Never in a position to win the ball + dangerous action (not for the first time from that player) + Murray lands on his head = red card. Easiest call of the test, bottled by the officiating team.

This is a situation where reffing the outcome frustrates me. It could be a red for Kolbe due to how Murray lands but Kolbe's eyes are on the ball. With how these are now reffed his eyes being on the ball doesn't matter but reffing the outcome means there's so much luck (or lack of luck) involved in the decision. If Murray happens to land on his feet or knees from the exact same action from Kolbe it's just a penalty and move on.
In my opinion that is the correct outcome (yellow, Lions penalty) for the collision but whether it's consistent with how those collisions have been reffed recently is a different discussion.
A messy collision that will no doubt produce a messy debate regardless of the result of the match.

Both wingers on the same side being in the bin is fascinating if either side chooses to shift the ball that way. Potentially an incentive to keep the ball in hand and play 'coast to coast' a bit more

This must be one of the slowest tests in rugby history. 49 minutes since kick-off, only 29 minutes of rugby played.
