Re: RL season 2022
Thanks george,
Like i said didnt see anything of the 1st half, so no idea how that went.
Todays result,
In the 1st 1895 cup semi final (played before the challenge cup final at Tottenham stadium), Featherstone win 46-6 at Barrow, to go back to try and retain the trophy they won last year.
In League 1 today.
North Wales continue there fantastic form, niling Doncater in Doncaster to win 46-0. Hunslet beat Cornwall 52-16, and Swinton beat London Skolars 58-14.
Couple of games next week.
Toulouse are at home to Wakefield, which could if Toulouse win tighten things up at the bottom.
But the big game is Cornwall v West Wales. Which will either see Cornwall get either its 1st professional league win, or point. Or West Wales get there 1st win in about 2 1/2 seasons. Can't get any bigger than that.

In league 1.

Re: RL season 2022
So today's games (minus the Hull Kr one, which wasn't really a game, more a training session).
Cas win the training session v Hull KR 32-0. In the big one Toulouse win again (20-14), and in doing so bring themselves within 2 points of opponents Wakefield. Ledds change head coach, might need more than that as they're comfortably beaten at Salford 23-8.
In the Championship.
Dewsbury put in a good performance v Featherstone losing 26-46. Halifax continue there home form, this time putting Sheffield to the sword 38-14. Barrow win the latest Cumbrian derby, beating Workington 26-12. Widnes get a great win 56-16 v whitehaven. And Bradford unsurprisingly lose at home to York 6-20.
In league 1.
In the big game, West Wales win for the 1st time in over 2 years, and nil Cornwall away 20-0. Got to say West Wales looked very impressive (especially there number 8, who was faster for his 2 tries then Hull KR was all afternoon). Cornwall looked like Hull KR, lost when they had the ball.
Keighley continue there unbeaten start, with a good 40-16 win v Rochdale. At Swinton get a great result at Hunslet 28-16.

Whitehaven are this weeks' recipient of the Featherstone treatment, hammered 78 - 0 at Post Office Road.
Bradford beat Newcastle despite a second half come back 36 - 20
Both sides had a player sent off (Tom Holroyd and Jake Shorrocks) after 30 mins for punching.

Expected Catalan to win, and if I'm honest a scrappy game
We are just so out of form it ridiculous, next the wewk off next wewk. Foid win for Hull though.

Championship;
Batley come back and beat London 28 - 12 (I do wonder if the home side played downhill in the second half)
Barrow win at Dewsbury 20 - 18
No great surprise as Leigh batter Whitehaven 58 - 6, Blake Ferguson scoring 4 tries on debut.
Great win for Halifax at York 40 - 24, aside from the top two not many others will win there..
League One.
Keighley overcome Midland Hurricanes 29 - 18, the latter showing some good signs of improvement.

Today's championship.
Workington are the recipient of Leigh getting 50 this week, as Leigh win 56-6. Perhaps the suprise result if the day is at York, who lose to Halifax 24-40. Barrow gain another narrow win in west Yorkshire this time 20-18 at Dewsbury. And Batley beat London Broncos 28-12.
In league 1,
Keighley keep up there 100% record after beating Midlands 29-18.

There is only 1 league game next week (London Skolars v Oldham) who always play on the friday to try and get a good crowd. As the challenge cup final and 1895 final take center stage this weekend. And to be honest both finals (Wigan/Huddersfield and Featherstone/Leigh), should be cracking games.

Wigan overcome Huddersfield 16 - 14 in the Challenge Cup. Decent game on the whole. I appreciate Lolohea's missed kicks will be mentioned however for my money the Giants after taking the lead back 14 - 12........stopped playing?
I then watched 30 minutes or so of the Union final Leinster v La Rochelle, watching the referee's performance made me appreciate James Child's referring of the CC final. The guy at the union appeared to me as wanting to be the star attraction, I had to check back on who controlled the CC game.

Re: RL season 2022
So after this weekend's break for most clubs. Back to normal this week, apart from the championship who are all playing on bank holiday Thursday (apart from Halifax/Dewsbury who are playing tomorrow). And then sunday (apart from Featherstone/Bradford which is the monday night premier sport game) for some reason.
Couple of big games (in my opinion) to look out for. On Thursday the bottom 2 of the Championship (Workington/London Broncos), meet in Workington. Who haven't won this year, you feel this is there chance, and they desperately need to.
And on Saturday, the top 2 in league one, who are both unbeaten North Wales and Keighley meet in North Wales.
The league tables at the moment.
In Sl,
St Helens are still top on 22 points, 2 points ahead of Catalan, (20 points)who are 2 points ahead of Wigan (18 points). The other play off places are at the moment filled by Huddersfield (17 points), Hull FC (16 points) & Castleford (12 points).
At the bottom are still Toulouse (4 points), with Wakefield just outside the relegation place on 6 points.
In the Championship,
Featherstone are still top on 23 points, then Leigh (22 points). The rest of the play off spots are York (18 points), Halifax(16), then Batley & Barrow (15).
In the relegation places, Workington still have 0 points, then its London Broncos on 3 points.
In League one,
Keighley are top on 16 points courtesy of points scored (top automatically goes up), then in the play offs. North Wales (16 points), Rochdale (14 and quietly having a great season so far), Swinton (12), Doncaster (10) & Hunslet on 9.
The wooden spoonists at the moment are Cornwall (0).
And in the NRL.
Top Penrith (22 points).
The rest of the play offs are, Melbourne (18), North Queensland & Brisbane & Parramatta all with 16, Sydney Roosters & Cronulla (14), and South Sydney (12).
Current wooden spoonists are Canterbury (4).

The other incident is another swinging arm not long before. Which is quite a few are wondering why he didn't get at least 10 minutes.

The rest of the Championship 1st games this weekend
In the big game, Workington get there first win 32-18 v London Broncos, very much needed. There's nearly a shock at Barrow, before Leigh hold on to win 30-28 im what sounds a great game. Featherstone meanwhile have few problems in beating Newcastle away 46-10.
York become the 1st side ro leave Sheffield's Legacy park stadium with the 2 points. Winning 34-14, Batley brush aside Whitehaven in Cumbria 46-6, Leaving Whitehaven nervously looking over there shoulder at the relegation battlw.
And the battle of the 2 coachless sides, sees Bradford gain a good away win, beating Widnes 31-6.

The 2 SL games tonight provide shocks.
1st Huddersfield gain an excellent win in Perpignan, beating Catalans 22-14.
In the 2nd, Leeds thump Warrington away 40-4. Not a shock Leeds winning, but the margin certainly is.

Great win for the Giants, very impressive given the Cup final/travel etc.
I saw a bit of Warrington/Leeds, the latter played some lovely rugby whilst the former looked at times all over the place.
Wigan dominate Castleford in the second half to record a good win at the Jungle 12 - 32.
In League One, London Skolars narrowly win at Cornwall 20 - 24.

From what i saw of Warrington/Leeds, wire's defence was just awful, Leeds where just running through them untouched.
The other 2 games today,
In the big game in League one between the 2 unbeaten teams. Keighley get a magnificent win in North Wales 56-12.
The other game in SL see's St Helens win in Southern France, 28-14 in Toulouse.

Re: RL season 2022
Today's games.
SL.
Hull KR brush aside the last month's poor performances, to ease aside Salford 43-16. And Wakefield put some daylight between them and Toulouse by beating Hull FC 19-18, coming from behind in doing so.
In the Championship 2nd games this bank holiday (apart from Featherstone/Bradford which is tomorrow).
Batley again score 46 against a west Cumbrian side, this time Workington at home who don't get a point at all losing 46-0. Neither do Halifax who lose at Leigh 36-0. Widnes's poor form continues as they lose at Barrow 44-4. Sheffield recover from there 1st home defeat, to gain a win at Newcastle 31-18. London Broncos put in a great performance, but still lose at York 36-34, it what sounds an entertaining game game. And coachless Dewsbury lose at home to Whitehaven 26-18, a win that puts abit more daylight between Whitehaven and the bottom 3.
In league one.
Swinton get a great win at Oldham 16-8, Doncaster continue there up and down season, getting a good win at home to Hunslet 36-6. And Midlands beat West Wales 56-12.

Re: RL season 2022
The NRL results from the weekend (yea i know should have been doing this earlier). There's only a few games, as it's the state of origin opener this week.
Canberra beat Sydney Roosters 22-16, Penrith beat Canterbury 30-18 both at home. North Queensland win away at Gold coast 32-6, and Manly beath New Zealand Warriors at home 44-12.
Just thought I'd mention, that at the moment the leaders of the women's rugby league tables are - York (SL group 1), Warrington (SL group 2) & London Broncos (SL South).
And in the NCL.
West Hull currently top the premier Division, Kells (Division 1), Barrow Island (Division 2), and East Leeds (Division 3).
The big game this week us Dewsbury at home to London, who should they win will be out of the bottom 2 for the first time this season. Next Monday night premier sport tv game is Leigh/Featherstone.

Re: RL season 2022
if further proof of Leigh/Fev's dominance of the Championship was needed the former's 36 - 0 win over Fax who were on a run of 7 (I think) wins and spent relatively big in the winter says everything anyone needs to know.
I await Bradford's game at Fev that kicks off shortly.........with some trepidation.

Re: RL season 2022
Final game of this weekend.
Featherstone did what Featherstone do, win quite comfortably against pretty much most sides. This time winning 58-12.
The top of this division is pointless, thankfully the battle for the play off places, and the relegation places are the only thing that's stopping the Championship being boring.
I know I'm massively in the minority on this, but this is where the 8's comp would have been fascinating (and in my opinion kept on), bottom 4 of SL facing a game against both these sides. With 3 guaranteed promotion and 4v5 for the final spot, would in my opinion been so much more interesting, then the what seems inevitable procession of Fev/Leigh stuffing everbody till they meet in the grand final for the promotion place.

It is certainly hard to argue against that Luke. As mentioned Monday night games are clearly an advantage to those sides, something they really do not need.
Best wishes to the supporter who was taken to hospital during the game.

Re: RL season 2022
Today's games are noteable for there effect on the bottom of the tables. And there is 1 game still on going (Swinton v Rochdale in league 1 which kicked off at 4.30, so will put that result up later).
In SL.
It was a bad day for Toulouse, who not only lost at Home to an injury hit Castleford 14-20. But Wakefield won again v Warrington (3rd time this season so far) 30-24.
In the other game, Hull KR put up a valient performance before ultimately losing at leaders St Helens 26-18.
In the Championship.
The big result was London Broncos winning at Dewsbury 26-18, which takes them out of the bottom 2, being replaced by there opponent's today. Workington stay rooted to the bottom after losing the latest Cumbrian derby at home to Barrow 0-58. Whitehaven lose at home to Halifax 12-24, as Halifax continue there really good recent form. John Kear's debut as Widnes coach ends in defeat at home to York 14-16, but an improved showing. Sheffield lose at home again to an improving Bradford 16-30. In the other game Batley dismantle Newcastle at home 58-18.
In League one (minus the late kick off).
Keighley' s approach to transfers continues to work, as they win in Cornwall 56-12. Oldham put there inconsistent form putting Midlands to the sword with a 66-0 hammering. And in possibly the 2nd result of the day (London Broncos is definitely the result of today), Hunslet hold off North Wales to win 30-22 at home.

Re: RL season 2022
The final league 1 game.
Swinton win 34-14 against Rochdale.
There are no league games next week, as England are playing against the combined nations (sl players from different nations, and some English players). in an international friendly.
Will put the NRL scores up tomorrow.
