Another penalty under no pressure. These are the sort of mistakes that France have been making less frequently with Edwards involved.

I don’t think we’ll score. French defence is good, and JD2 just fluffed the best opportunity.

Offt. That would've been a beauty.
Faletau's ability to come back from injuries and be instantly world class is remarkable.
Navidi has returned pretty darn well too it must be said.

Wales only have themselves to blame here. You can say good defence but bloody hell they're not helping themselves at all.

That was a frustrating watch as an Englishman. God knows what it was like if you were Welsh.

That game followed an incredibly consistent pattern - France concede a penalty, Wales get up the field, Wales' attack breaks down, France clear, France concede a penalty...and repeat.
France are good at winning ugly.

Yep, lots of opportunities, possession and territory squandered it must be said.
France roll on though and have the grand slam decider at home next week.

Well France won the game.
But to be honest i thought France would of scored more points. The way they despatched Sccotland, the way they won against Ireland.
Having said that it was a cracking game i really enjoyed it.
But the thing is Wales could not score a try with all the time they spent in the French 22.

Oh dear, JD will be sent to his room with no supper. One that got away - Either Wal can't finish or Fra's defense is outstanding.

Any one know what the crowd capacity was?
Did they sell out the stadium?
Or was their still empty seats?

Try Google/Siri etc. You clearly have some form of internet. Stop clogging threads up with your stupid questions.
You’re the person that thinks U20 results mean something, but ignored the Italy v England U20 result.

Faletau is incredible. I thought I would enjoy watching a few French players perform, but he was the one I enjoyed the most. His intelligence when carrying his something else. Always looking for a soft shoulder and always an under rated yard maker.

You know what, I’m ok with that result/performance. I thought it might be a humping. Lots of posters (on social media) and press thought it would be a humping. But Wales fronted up and gave it a good go. I never expected a win. My hope was to give them a good game and I think we did that. We made some strange decisions but I wonder if that was to surprise them? Nothing formulaic about Wales today! We were off the cuff a lot. And, in fairness, little of it came off. But I think it rattled France.
In the end though they were more powerful. But I’ve seen those go the other way. France are not infallible.

I think England can take a lot from what we did tonight. We shut them down, just didn’t offer a lot in attack, as such. I assume if Pivac is still playing mistakes, he’ll drop JD2 next week. That looked horrendous in the stadium, to drop that.

To be honest at the end I was disappointed Wales didn't get over the line to take the match as it was there for the taking ...

When France scored that try i thought the flood gates was about to open. But full credit to Wales for stopping France scoring any more try's. If,If it was not for the penalties Wakes gave away tey may have won.
Just notice that 11000 empty seats for the game. a crowd of 63000. attended.
I understand some ticket was selling for £100 a ticket.
Is that to much? I know finances are low because of the pandemic.

Re: Wales v France Match Thread
Just read a comment re the you can tell the ref had a good game by no one moaning on social media. Certainly much quieter than the stuff aimed at Adamson last week. But...I'm not sure I agree Carley had as good a game or is as good a ref. More both teams got what they wanted, or at least more than expected from a Wales pov?
Risca, that drop by JD looks worse on TV replay!

Re: Wales v France Match Thread
Wales really suffered from sending 1 up runners into contact. The support was often too slow and we were turned over in crucial areas on a number of occasions. It was like the polar opposite of Wales under Gatland where securing the ball was paramount and we were able to put together phase after phase. Not saying we need to go back to that but I think we might have got more out of the game if we gave the ball carrier more support.

Great performance from Wales in defence, thank goodness they weren't like that against Ireland .
I thought Biggar managed the first half very well with some excellent kicking, but slipped off slightly in the second. JD2 drop was the only real clear scoring chance and very disappointing. When Elias(?) was held up over the line he was isolated as the French maul defence had been so good.

Feel bad for Wales. Like just about everyone, I thought France would go crazy after nailing that early try. But after some nervous moments, Wales steadied their ship and, frankly, had more and better scoring opportunities. If not for some poor decisions inside the French 22, they could (should?) have have gotten more points on the board. I am still wondering about that up and under on the French line.

Re: Wales v France Match Thread
Yeah that was an odd one from Hardy (I think) to go for the up n under! It was off first phase as well I think. I feel that we could have gone for that if nothing was working but that was the first (and only) time we were that close to their line so it would have been nice to at least try a few phases and see if we could score that way before reverting to a high ball. Maybe it was another attempt to confuse the French! As I said above we did a number of off the cuff things that I think was just to attempt to bamboozle the French and be a bit unpredictable.

Agree, I'm sure some of those kicks were pre-planned. But I think if Wales were just a bit more patient, they had a few decent shots to get over the line. Still, just like the England match, just a hair's breath away, and not much between the sides.

I do not think that England was the better team yesterday, we ( England ) was a better team than they have been ib this 6ns....Ewels red card seem to galvanise England and they put up a real fight....But no Ireland won and won by playing the better rugby and out thinking England and England was really out on their feet.
No complaints from me on the out come of the game. Ireland the better team on the day.

Re: Wales v France Match Thread
No surprise that you’re a headline reader and can’t understand context etc.
Even the studio guests yesterday praised Wales and said the difference was France took their one chance and Wales did not. France’s one chance also came when the referee probably should’ve stopped play with Tomos Williams struggling.
But that all said, it’s a waste of time discussing things with you.

The thing that annoyed (and annoys) me is turning down kicks at goal. We turned down two eminently kickable kicks at 13-9 down, against a side who are known to have a mean defence, and let's face it we don't have the sharpest attack in the world. It's as if we really did think that we needed to 'get over the line'.
I honestly don't know why you'd turn down relatively easy points, unless you're clearly on top up front.
